As a bow maker, these shavers go above and beyond. Good accuracy and they hold an edge well. I'm on my third bow and have not had to sharpen them yet.

My boy got into bow making. These work pretty well, had to sharpen them though. They weren’t shaving clean just digging in and kinda bouncing across instead of gliding and making clean curls. But for the price I can’t complain.

You will need to make some adjustments to the blades and if you wish to keep them sharp. You should heat treat the steel blades. Harder steel holds a edge longer. As for the little wood plain good luck with that thing staying where you locked it in place. Mine seems to keep getting loose. But after I drilled a small hole in the blade and then slotted it in my mini mill. then i drilled a hole in the wood I fixed a small wood screw to keep it from coming loose. So now it works longer than ten seconds with out falling apart. ... show more

Plan Blade Has Very Hard To Remove Coating The manufacturer gave not explanation or instructions about how to remove the protective coating on the cutting edge of the block plane. Not a good experience out of the box. I simply tried using the plane with the blade as is thinking perhaps use would clear it. It made it rough. I soaked in rubbing alcohol for an hour or so and got most off. Some lacquor thinner got the rest. The manufacturer should have given instructions on how to prepare this for use. ... show more

Ok so this is a little bit cheaply made but not at all bad and it works well, it's a super value. Maybe spend more if you going to use it daily or professionally. Don't do what I did and wait until you are 50 years old to get this. I wish I had this years ago. It also comes with the block plain, smooth it and bees wax and it's decent. ... show more
