These work great. Have had them for 2 years and still work well. I have 2 plugged in all the time for living room lamps and 2 I use when needed like Christmas lights etc.

The setup instructions changed, most likely due to an app update for the phone, and led to unnecessary confusion. I had a box of 4 and programmed 3 devices easily. Didn’t need the 4th for a couple weeks. Went and bought 3 more boxes of 4 and started to program them (starting with the 4th one from the original order). I couldn’t complete the setup. Having 12 new ones, I tried them in case the other one was just defective and none of them worked. Went to get support from BN Link and the phone number didn’t work. The website did but didn’t have any different information. Contacted Amazon who only offered a refund. I wanted the product to work and not a refund so I tried email support with BN Link. Went back and forth a few times and their information was confusing. Asked for a way to talk to someone and wasn’t answered. Kept trying to call and finally, one day, the phone not only worked but they answered. They helped me so quick and easy! Turned out something changed and they knew how to help me. The documentation was out of date and they didn’t address the email or phone issues, but at that point I didn’t care. I can now use the devices and am happy but disappointed in the support process and with limited support options by Amazon. In the 3 additional boxes of 4, the instructions were still all wrong and not sure how you expect people to use a product with wrong instructions! At least update the website and make it clear, or provide better support. Noticed some other updates in how they work now and like the new options. If documentation was updated and support was better I would rate higher. UPDATED: just needed support because my schedule stopped working as it had been for a very long time. It took 7 days to get through on the phone after the emails were rejected stating the email address no longer existed. The main page for the support said they are open 24/7 but another page has limited hours. Tried calling during those hours and many days later, they picked up. Trying to work through the problems with the app and the support person hung-up on me in the middle of the call and now it is constantly busy again. These work when they work, but don't expect a great product or any support. You get what you pay for!

I was looking for some smart plugs to monitor my electrical usage in certain areas of the home, and I came across these BN-Link Smart Plug Outlets. installation and setup was very easy and quick; I did have to install the SmartLife app first, in order to configure each smart plug to my home network (more on this later). One good thing I noticed was that I could program all of the Smart Plugs beforehand using the app. From there I could unplug them and move each outlet to their actual location in the house, plug them back in, and the Smart Plug would retain the programming - very handy. With each Smart Plug installed, in the SmartLife app I could see and control the state of each outlet, optionally program schedules and countdown timers, and most importantly (and why I chose these Smart Plugs) I can see realtime and graphed power consumption. The status page for each outlet shows me current power in watts, the voltage output at the outlet, and accumulative (total) electricity used in KWh. A sub-page shows energy consumption as a bar graph for easy inspection. As far as the "Smart" compatibility is concerned, these Smart Plugs are not compatible with HomeKit out of the box (they are for the Alexa/Google side). However, with a HomeBridge and the SmartLife plug-in, I have successfully and easily added all of the BN-Link Smart Plugs (I bought 8 total) into my Apple HomeKit. The BN-Link Smart Plugs are controllable in the Home app on all of my Apple devices; however, it is limited to on/off functionality only. I cannot check the energy consumption through Apple HomeKit. There are only 2 small things I would ask for with these Smart Plugs. 1: it would be nice if the SmartLife app had an "energy overview" page showing all of the Smart Plug energy consumption on one page; as is I have to go into the setting page for each plug one at a time to check individual energy consumption. 2: I wish there was a simple toggle to turn on/off the LED light on the front of the Smart Plugs; they're not blindingly bright, but in a dark room they definitely are noticeable. Aside from those two small things, I have no complaints about these smart plugs. They are easy to set up and work great. I don't take any points away for not being HomeKit compatible becuase they clearly stated they were not. So, if you're looking for budget-friendly smart plugs that allow you to track energy consumption, be sure to give these a try!
