I have a SyncUP DRIVE from T-Mobile and I use it as a wifi hotspot. I had a check engine light turn on, and the SyncUP Drive didn't give me enough information as to what the issue was. I saw this was a low cost option for getting some more in-depth info for my car, and I thought I'd give it a shot. Worked great right out of the box, connected quickly, gave me a ton of information (see video), and I was able to get the info I needed to figure out what was wrong (turns out it was a faulty spark plug). Would highly recommend to anyone, I'll keep this in my glove box for next time an error pops up.

Does NOT CLEAR/ ERASE code! Check engine light came on in my car, bought this scanner, it gave me the same code I got using a friend’s scanner, so I’ll say it’s accurate! However, after making a repair in my car, I plugged this OBD2 scanner into my car again to erase the code, when I found out that it doesn’t give you the option to!! Reached out got the seller but no help! So I had to go back to my friend’s house to borrow/use his scanner again. So it does half a job! However, in the product name/ description it said it does, which is not true.

This is so cool to have live engine feedback for tuning or just something monitoring better than your standard dummy lights. Also really great at figuring out the fault codes before I have to go to the auto store. Makes it easy to clear them too. I was able to use it on my Honda Element and my Toyota RAV4 without issues and it saved the profiles so I was able to switch it back and forth if I wanted. Wish there was a way to connect it to my stereo and get the feedback on my stereo that would be amazing but it works great on my phone as is.

This is an inexpensive code reader for most cars. It's a little different from others, besides price, it's that it powers on when you plug it in to the cars interface and it starts broadcasting thru Wifi. So you have to connect your phone or tablet to the Wifi signal. You download the units program and set it up to the correct model. Then you start you car and get live data. I admit, that's what I wanted it to do. But it was fairly confusing for me. Of course I'm not an auto mechanic and it would be easy to say well what did I think would happen.. True, but I thought it would give me a clear picture of what was going on with the functions of my car. After all, it's priced for people like me who are not versed in mechanical lingo or engine status statistics. People who are use code readers that cost hundreds of dollars or more. It does read and report codes and you need to choose your car from it's database, so it knows what the codes relate to. The problem that seemed to hinder my effort and it's 5 star rating here, is it kept losing the Wifi connection. That's hard and dangerous to monitor and drive at the same time. It did report some things, but they didn't seem related to the problems and ultimately they were not the problem or indicating something that was a result of a problem. Not even close. So, I'm disappointed in this reader and in myself, for thinking that it would be so understandable that I could deal with it, even if I had someone else do the work. You know - knowledge is power! In the end, it meant nothing. It found some errors, but missed the ones it should have found and that the shop repaired.
