  • This thing has a ton of vehicle monitoring features
I initially ordered this thinking it would be a replacement for my handheld OBDII scanner. After setting it up for my car, I'm thinking I may go a different direction with it. Initial impressions and setup: The construction seems to be of a good quality. It's a smaller form factor so I assume it's designed to just live in your car's ODBII port. I left mine in there and it's not noticeable unless you are looking for it. Once you plug it in, you are required to download an app that works for Android or IOS to operate. That is done via a download from the manufacturer website. A QR code on the box gives you the shortcut. I'm an Android user and you do need to make sure your securities are setup to sideload third party apps (AKA you don't get it through the standard app store). That was super quick and there's a quick setup process where you can create an account to save your data. When I say quick, I mean under 5 minutes. There is a pictogram that tells you the broad strokes, but you aren't supplied with any paper instructions. Some may find that disappointing. I have no issue with that after seeing how easy it was to setup. Operation: The app seems intuitive enough. You do have the option to setup a record for your car based on the VIN number. There's a dashboard on the main page that displays engine coolant temp, battery voltage (both of which are unfortunately not displayed on my dash in my Subaru) as well as vehicle speed and RPMs. From there, you have options to run trouble codes, a diagnostic service function, obtain real time data, a way to save trouble codes that might clear up on their own, fault indicator detection, O2 sensor monitoring, as well as some other functions. There's a lot of functionality for the same price as standalone code reader. Which brings me to my initial point. I bought this to replace a stand-alone code reader. It absolutely has the ability to do that. However, after seeing what all this thing could do, I'm leaving it connected to my car. Should I need to run a diagnostic code on my wife's car or for a relative, friend, etc. then I'll use my stand-alone reader. The port on my Subaru is tucked up almost at the firewall and seems a little flimsy (or at least the area around it seems to move around a lot). I think I'll leave it where it is. All-in-all, you get a lot of bang for your buck, and I definitely recommend this product. ... show more

  • Does not work at all for a Ford Ranger 2001.
Pros: Device connected via Bluetooth right away. Cons: App on the QR code is from non-approved sources. I was able to download it from Google Play Store by searching for the name. I have an old Ford Ranger 2001. Any OBD2 can read and clear the DTC code. Not this device. See screenshot. Other thoughts: I am not interested in all other features. I have a CEL on and I need to review and clear it. What any $5 OBD2 can do properly. But not this one. Funny that when it connects, I can see some information, but right after that, it tries something, and I get an error that this is not compatible and disconnects right away. Fine, I do not care about the most advanced stuff. All I want is to review and clear my DTC code from my phone. But no, it just doesn't work. ... show more

  • Not bad
It is pretty easy to connect and the app seemed to work well. It's not super clear though how to use all of the app features, or even what the features are for. Once I played around with it for a bit, it seemed to have a lot of features that I wouldn't expect for the price point. It didn't have what I needed for my specific problem (electrical issue), but that is okay, it will be a great addition to the toolbox. ... show more

  • App doesn't suck!
I was specifically looking for a BT OBD2 dongle like this for test drives after repairs. With so many flooding the market I didn't really know which to go with. So I totally just took a shot in the dark with this one lol! The quality of the hardware is a little low feeling, but I don't foresee this even being a problem. However the accompanying application is easy to use, very fast to connect, and provides a pretty interesting/aesthetic look. The application does however ask for you to manually input the vehicle make/model (factual values are required according to the app) as well as owners name and phone number (factual values not required). So for my particular use case, it kind of slows me down a bit, but still very useable. The "Performance Gauge" option is pretty neat, I tried it out on my own car, and it was a fun interaction. It does basic SAE codes, some core live data PIDs, readiness monitor status, and even has enhance vehicles specific information for a few select makes. Plenty for your average car owner, and exactly what I was wanting. Overall, I'd say I'd recommend it to a friend. ... show more

  • It works
This was easy to install, easy to set up, and easy to use. I downloaded the app from the play store instead of the direct link with the QR code as my phone wouldn't let me install it from there. Just click on the link for installation problems and it will take you to the play store or apple app store. It plugs into the port under your dash and your car has to be running or have the ignition on. It gave me a load of data and has a trip analyzer. I haven't had the opportunity to try reading and clearing codes because my truck doesn't have the check engine light illuminated. I will find a vehicle that does, and try this out and add it to the review. Like other code readers, you'll have to tell it which vehicle to read and there are more types listed than I had any idea even existed in the world. I can't say much more, it appears to work well! ... show more
