This is an excellent pump for most pools. You must buy adapters for Intex pools or for Hayward pool fittings. My local pool store had the adapter for the intex 1.5 inch hose to the internal 1.5 inch threads on the pump. Matched up perfect. Someone else posted about hayward pool fittings. 1. People comment about this not having an on/off switch. Most people will want a timer for this because it does not need to run more than an hour a day. The media could not be loaded. Bought this to replace a Hayward PowerFlow Matrix 1.5hp pump. Might I add the Hayward I replace was the second one in 6 years. With the old one only lasting 2.5 years. So I was looking for a more economical solution and took a chance. Pool size 12x24 48". It has only been installed for an hour to be fair. Everything lined up to a "T" to my old setup. Used all the old fittings. This thing has every bit the power of my Hayward PowerFlow Matrix Xtreme. It is so quiet that you don't know it's on and same power. Would recommend it at this time. Easy $100 less than a complete Hayward with basket system. Hayward pump by itself was $168 plus new gaskets and seals ( est. Another $20-$30) plus your labor time, if you are handy and I am. Had my pump running within 30 minutes of unboxing. Can't beat it if it stays working and no issues.

Product received in well packaged. Easy installation. Nice quiet pump. Ran great for 3 weeks. Just stopped. Emailed suppler BlueWave for an exchange and warranty coverage. Emailed them twice, and called them once. On phone, person told me they would be getting back to my emails within 48 hours. It has been 5 days now. Anyone with a pool knows you need to filter frequently to maintain good water health. Disappointing that BlueWave is not responding. I finally had to arrange for a return through Amazon and purchased another pump from another vendor.

I bought this as a replacement to my Pentair 1.5 HP pump that had lasted 10+ years running 12 per night during the summer for most of those years. This pump installed easily (they provide the adapters and teflon tape) but once I plugged it in, I immediately noticed that the pressure was much lower than the 1.5 HP Pentair. The description of this pumps says it's a replacement for Hayward, Pentair, etc. but I would have expected a 1.5 HP pump to have the same power as my previous 1.5 HP pump. Now, reading the label that is on the motor of the Pentair pump and this one, the Pentair is 12 amps and this one is 9 amps so clearly not the same power. I wish I had known this prior to purchasing it but I did not find that info in the description - only that it was a replacement with the same HP. I've already installed it and I cant let my pool go another couple of weeks with no circulation so we'll see how it does. Bottom line: half the cost = half the pressure.

The most positive thing I can say is it arrived quickly. Trying to put connectors on - hand tightening; The front half of the pump broke off. There is just one little plastic tab holding the two pieces together. It is a brittle low grade plastic that simply snapped right off. I couldn't believe it even happened and then when I saw how it was made - Ughh!!!!! A replacement is on its way ..... hopefully a better experience :( ... Well got the replacement running. Kudos to Amazon prime who replaced it within 12 hours - Amazing. Pump has been running fine for a week, Still a bit nervous that I am going to open the top to clean the skimmer basket and have it snap in 2 on me,

Pros: Extremely quite. Mounting holes lined up just the same as my previous Hayward pump. Came with fittings and Teflon tape. Has both a side AND top outlet. Supplied cap goes on whichever you don't use. Cons. Not true 1.5 hp. More like 1. Still cycling my 24' pool just fine though. Also, no power switch like my previous pump had. Overall: Would've given 5 stars if it were advertised as a 1hp pump. But for a hundred bucks, good deal.

This pump is not rated accurately. I purchased it to replace a Heyward 1 horse pump and it is about 2/3 the power when in fact it should pump faster and at an increased water volume. My heater keeps kicking off showing an error message of low pressure and the slightest build up of debris in my filter slows the discharge of water back into the pool. Now I continually have an algae problem. I had a service technician come and inspect everything ($300) and he said the water circulation is too slow and I should get another pump. I trusted Amazon to carry only merchandise that lived up to its advertised standard but that didn't happen. I was smart enough to purchase an extended warranty but I will have to shut down the pool to return the pump and receive a new one and that is a dilemma that will create a major water quality problem. Blue Wave should not be in your sales inventory. Very frustrated and angry!!!

I loved the idea of increasing the horsepower and the reviews were okay. What we have discovered is that this pump is not as consistent and as powerful as the previous 1 hp pump we had. When we vacuum the pool, we have to backwash 5-6 times because it loses it’s power to keep the water moving. We have never had this problem before. During normal operations we find that we have to backwash for 10-15 seconds several times a day to keep the water flowing as it should. I am not happy with this pump.
