The picture is a lot clearer than the previous version. More square, but a much better vision. Getting an additional sync module is great so I could separate my indoor and outdoor cameras. Posted an old pic and a new one to demonstrate the view. Three batteries instead of two is meh. Not too worried. The person detection is nice. I can have it record the people on the sidewalk 12 ft away without picking up the cars or their headlights. I can see the persons face when they come to the door now, and my packages on my step. All in all, much better and worth it finally.

1JUN2025 - Just got this camera a few moments ago, and I’d have to say that this camera has some bulk to it! This camera protrudes about 1 1/2 inches, but this accounts for the additional battery it takes, which are 3 lithium batteries that are provided. Blink also seems to have improved the mount on the bottom, where it’s now a push motion to separate mount from the camera. You receive some additional tools for mounting and wiring, which come in sealed bags. The instructions provided are very easy to follow and get your camera online. It’s a worthy upgrade from the previous Blink doorbell camera! Will see how performance goes as time goes on.

This new design is a fisheye camera. Completely useless beyond ten feet. Picture gets so grainy after ten or so feet that you could not make out a face for sure. Complete waste of money for me and now I cannot return it because I had to drill the rear plate to make it fit where I needed it. I assumed that it would work fine since all my other cameras have been decent. My fault for trusting this company. Edit : I just got off the phone with customer service and they say that the video looks perfectly fine , clearly lying to me . The camera is off center and you can clearly see see blacked out section on one of the corners and the resolution is so bad that I feel like I'm still in the 90's. I'm just completely shocked with the customer service and how they can stand up for a terrible product and try to convince me that it is great. Do not buy this new camera unless you enjoy wasting money and being frustrated.

I always hate slightly long reviews but this might save someone the trouble. Very disappointed with this update— I wanted to like it so bad. Firstly, there is too much of a delay to start recording an event if the subject is approaching for the left or right side of the doorbell even with the highest sensitivity enabled. I suppose since it prioritizes a head-to-toe view, this works best for someone whom only has a direct front line approach to their door. If you live in an apartment like me you’ll need a faster sensor to begin recording when subjects approach from the side because your door is likely facing a hallway. The 2nd gen HD doorbell works great for that application. I was hoping to upgrade to this camera from my 2nd gen to be able to actually see the deliveries left at my door but I immediately saw that the camera constantly didn’t start recording until a person was 2 steps from being out of frame when walking by. So theoretically someone could approach from an angle and scope your door without event being detected, that’s a no for me. With my current 2nd gen as soon as someone even tries to peak at view of my door from the side, they are detected immediately even with half sensitivity enabled. Lastly I was hoping the HD 1440 by 1440 video resolution would be a far better quality then my HD 2nd gen but it’s not visible at all. It just records a more portrait view rather than a landscape. And the so called “smart notifications” alerts you get with subscription is totally unnecessary and not helpful unless you live where animals often cross your door. Just seems like a gimmicky AI feature to please investors thinking every business needs to be apart of the AI buzz somehow. Overall if this is your first doorbell camera and you have only a straight line approach to your door, this is a solid inexpensive option, but if you’re just looking to upgrade especially from the 2nd gen, it’s not worth it.

I have had the original doorbell since 2022 and moved it to our new home this past fall. while it's served me well it lacked a lot of features i wanted in a doorbell that are common from other brands - most importantly person detection and head-to-toe field of view. The new doorbell delivers both of those features in a nicely refreshed, wife approved design (all white to match the house - no more white body and black lens)! Big plus is improved video quality and much clearer night vision (though I wish it was it had nigh vision in color like some other brands). Still early on but I didn't have any issues with battery life on my previous model so I assume I'd see similar performance on this unit. Biggest con on the new device is size - it's thicker and slightly wider than the old version so doesn't fit into the old mount. It's a minor inconvenience but something to consider as you will have to re-install if you're replacing your old Blink Doorbell.
