This is an awesome griddle. We've used it for home cooking and for camping. We've cooked everything from eggs, bacon and pancakes to burgers. The griddle seems to very good at heat distribution - almost all areas are evenly heated - but YES there are spots which get hotter and those that are cooler, like all griddles. My son has never cooked so much since we got this Blackstone we cook on it on the weekends and sometimes during the week once or twice. It’s excellent. I recommended get the 22 inch is just a little too small. You will be happy with the 22
