I lost my earlier model of this favorite of mine do I got the new version, even better than the other one. One of the best features is the ability to turnoff the rear headlight and it stay off the next time you turn it on. That way you don’t have to turn it off every time if you don’t want to waist bat power on it. It’s also WAY more bright than the earlier model. I want to praise this light’s utility for more than just running. This light evenly illuminates the area near and in front of you. So it’s great for doing handy-person type work at night — which for me often includes using hand tools, digging, fixing things immediately in front of me, and/or working in dark spaces/room. I find this light preferable for most of my tasks, over and above other lamps I’ve tried, the main function of which usually is serve as a spot light (including My wife’s spot 350). Those lights cast their beam further but tend not to as brightly & evenly illuminate what is near. This enables me to see well enough while working, and is small and lightweight enough, that sometimes I forget I’m using it, which is basically ideal. I also like that I can use the same light for running and have a rear lamp if I want to use it. And I like the simplicity of the user interface. Don’t get me wrong, the other Black Diamonds with more options are great too. But this is the one for me. Note: If you want a red headlamp for reading in bed without waking your partner, or for working with other people without blinding them, you can just turn this one around on your head and use the rear lamp by itself. ... show more

I have ordered two of these now and they appear to have a basic design flaw. After running and sweating in them each once, the red light on the back just stays lit unless you just take the battery out. So to say this is made for running is just not true.

Great headlamp for running. Stays in place, lightweight. The weight distribution between the battery pack in the back and lamp in the front is good. I got this one to replace the previous model that I used for six years. Be sure to remove the tab from the battery pack before first use, otherwise it only works when plugged in to the USB charger. ... show more

What else can I say, worked great for 2 months, then stopped working. I used it when jogging only and never dropped it, took good care of it. It broke any way and would not hold a charge.

I have multiple older versions of the Black Diamond Sprinter that I purchased at REI which worked fine until the band stretched too much & it no longer fit my head properly. The item I purchased through a vendor on Amazon, while labeled "Black Diamond Sprinter" is NOT as bright as previous models. Unfortunately, I realized this after my money back guarantee expired. I have tried working with the vendor, but am basically stuck with a headlamp that is not safe for me to use for my outdoor running activities. I will be forced to try & purchase this item locally from another vendor & confirm it works properly before the return policy expires. DO NOT but this item if you use it for night time outdoor fitness activities as it is not adequate for safely illuminating your surroundings. ... show more
