  • Works great and the locking lid made it better.
Needed a new one and after searching for what I wanted this one came out on top. The easy to read and use controls and timer. And the way this lid locks down with latches rather than a bungee type, makes it easy to move or travel with. Not to mention safety if you still have kids.

  • Exposed Heating Element.
The programmable feature is great. Easy to use and easy to read. Only problem is there is an exposed ring of heating element between the ceramic pot and the base. I use liners when I cook and found the heating element was melting the liner. I was able to fix it by just not folding the liner over, but it was definitely a design flaw I was not anticipating. ... show more

  • Orientation of the stoneware pot is critical to performance, however its still a SLOW cooker!!!
Disappointing slow cooker.... I own many Black+Decker products and until now have been pleased with their balance of performance and value. That opinion is now changed with this slow cooker, which really is a SLOW cooker... like really, REALLY SLOW! When we first opened the box my wife said there must be something between the stoneware pot and the base as it didn't seem to fit level and teetered fore and aft... so I checked and nothing was amiss. I push the little round metal thingee on a spring at the bottom and it depressed easy all the way down and out of the way (I think it's a safety device that signals the controller when the crock pot is in the base and its okay to turn on the heating elements). The first thing I cooked in this slow cooker was a Chicken Stew which was supposed to cook in 4-6 hours on LOW... but since I doubled the recipe (which was originally calculated to serve two to three people) I knew it would take longer.... but I didn't bargain for how long it actually took, 18 hours!!! it took about 12 hours just to reach a boil(simmer). I figured it was my mistake for overloading the slow cooker past 3/4 full. The next thing I cooked in it was a Shepard's Pie... this time I stuck to the exact quantities of ingredients given in the recipe. The recipe said to take 6-8 hours on LOW... it actually took about 10 hours... not bad right? big improvement over the stew. Then tonight I go to make a sweet-n-sour shrimp recipe which requires it to boil because in the last 15 minutes I have to add a cornstarch and water mixture... cornstarch won't thicken unless its at boiling. To keep the veggies crunchy it says cook just 2-3hours on HIGH... I let it go for 5 hours and still no boil, not even close to it. My digital IR thermometer has it around 185F when I finally lift of the lid but after the lid is opened to add the cornstarch and 1/4 cup water it drops to like 160F quickly then after an hour sitting on HIGH it never gets close to boiling... grrrrr! I had to extract the juices and boil it on the stove to save the dinner. Out of frustration I look closely at the stoneware pot and see it is sitting very high off the sides (the way it came out of the box a week ago) where it rocks fore and aft)... the sides of the base unit (behind the locking handles) appear to be where the actual heating elements are located according to my IR pyrometer readings. For the heck of it I tried turning the stoneware pot around and lo... it seems to sit much flatter... not perfect but better... so much better that NOW it begins heating up noticeably faster. So that, I believe is why my Shepard's Pie seem to cook so much faster than the Chicken Stew did two days earlier... it was due to orientation of pot to base. By the way, both recipes eventually did reach a boil (simmer)... its just that one (Chicken Stew) took a heck of a lot long to reach it... I now surmise the orientation was the "wrong" way. By my observation is seems the orientation of the stoneware crockpot in relation to the base is really the important factor to the ability to conduct heat from the heating elements on the sides of the base heating unit to the sides of the stoneware pot. Placing the crockpot on a perfectly flat counter shows the bottom of the stoneware pot to be relatively flat enough (barely rocks), so the issue must be lack of symmetry in the shape of the sides on either the crockpot or the base heating liner... the reason it rocks in the base is the curvature of the lip of the crockpot (near the projection/handles) seems to keep crockpot from actually resting on the bottom of the base but instead balances it on the handles thus allowing the fore and aft rocking... I don't know if this is just (poor) design or in fact a manufacturing error. I just know the stoneware pot must be in contact with the metal sides of the base to heat efficiently through conduction and as it is there is a rather big air gap... a pretty darn substantial air gap really. Air is a really poor heat conductor (or a good insulator) and this is the crux of the problem with the slow conduction heat up of the stoneware pot. Knowing what I know now, I'd definitely return this slow cooker except that my wife has already thrown out the box. Guess I'll have to live with it now... fortunately as it appears if the stoneware pot is oriented the right way within the base (so it sits flatter/flush) then it will take only a little longer to come up to a boil/simmer than a normal slow cooker should but if its oriented the other way around it can take like 3X as long!!! ...but at least now I'm wise to what the issue is and so can deal with it by paying attention to the pot's orientation in the base and avoid those ridiculously over-long cooking times... and for that reason I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1, though I rather wish I could just return it... sigh. Judging from the other 1 star reviewers with the same complaint, likely all these B&D slow cookers must have the same slow heat-up issue and so B&D should really take this one off the market until they can come up with a manufacturing solution because the way it is right now... this slow cooker is really a "SLOW" cooker! ... show more

  • DUD
I purchased this crockpot thinking that because Black and Decker made it that it would be a good quality. No, It is not. It worked for approximately five times and would no longer heat. I cooked a roast and potatoes on low for 8 hours and the potatoes were only halfway cooked. I would definitely NOT recommend this Crock Pot. ... show more

  • Best crockpot ever!
This is the best crockpot ever! Its super cute and easy to use! I love how it counts down until its ready, lets out a little beep, switches itsself to 'keep warm', and then counts up so you know exactly how old your food is.

  • Great product for the price
I had a crockpot for 35 years and finally got a new one! This one is huge enough to feed a large family and is easy to clean and very user friendly! Great price, too!

  • Not impressed
Maybe I'm use to my old slow cooked, this just didn't seem to heat up and took forever to cook. I ended up taking my roast out of this and putting it in my old slow cooker
