Surprising amount of suction. The brush is powering through the carpet and the suction is picking everything up so It isn't a breeze to push, it's busy grabbing everything out of the carpet. I love the vacuum but would warn elderly people that it is too heavy for them, a lot of weight right at the hand and it's not a breeze to push. I owned a more expensive cordless , the brand name starts with an e and ends with a lux. It was a great vacuum, I was very impressed with it, it was light and easy to push, did a very nice job but the battery faded and replacing it is very difficult. And with that said, this vacuum does a much better job than the more expensive one. There are caveats; It is heavy on the hands and it grabs and sucks up everything so it isn't a breeze to push. I want to be clear, it isn't hard to push, but if you are 80 years old and your arthritis is bothering you, it would be too much for you. Like I said in the title, this thing competes and might even out perform our 11AMP upright, when you vacuum with this thing you can see where you've been, it is surprisingly powerful. I highly recommend this product. And the replaceable batteries make it an easy choice. We have 4 Black and Decker devices that run on the same exact battery, 20 Volt lithium. We have the drill, lead blower, weed eater and the vacuum (happy with all of them). I don't know how they test battery the amount of time the battery last. It probably would last 50 minutes on wood floors? For us it's closer to 20-25 minutes (100% Carpeting with rugs) I can do the entire down stairs (1200 square feet) with one charge and if I need it for a longer period of time I can just swap the battery out with any of the other three we have. I was a little skeptical of stick vacs. I have a regular hoover vacuum which works fine, but I only have about 1,200 sqft to clean and lugging it around and plugging in if fine for full house cleaning, but a little bit of a pain for cleaning more than once per week. I chose this vacuum as it has a removable/replaceable battery compared to others, which based on how batteries last, would end up throwing the whole thing out in a couple years. Plus I have a bunch of Porter Cable tools and wanted to use those batteries. (Which you easily can, looking at the B&D vs PC batteries, one has a small notch on one side of the battery track and the other, the opposite. With a Dremel or similar tool you can cut out a tiny notch and BOOM, all the batteries become interchangeable. Took me literally 5 mins with all 5 of my batteries.) I have a mix of hardwood, low pile rugs and medium pile carpet. I was very surprised to see this thing pull up the same and maybe a little more dirt as my plugged Hoover. Particularly on my entry rug. I use medium suction on my medium pile carpet which is new, so it mostly pulls up the carpet fuzz. For my rugs and hardwood I use high or medium. At times the suction is too much and will pull the rug up. It's nice to be able to remove the stick and just use the canister and brush roller to clean carpeted stairs and fluff of the carpet. Also convenient for the back of SUVs. Cleaning the canister is super easy and the replacement filters are inexpensive. I bought a couple extra to swap when the other have been washed and are drying. Overall, in the month or so I have had this, I have been pleasently surprised at its performance and would recommend for anyone with a small apartment or even medium house. Could do larger homes and areas, but would recommend extra or larger capacity batteries to swap. ... show more

Great for quick clean ups on hardwood and low pile carpet on the low power setting. Have not needed to use the 2 higher settings. Great for bathroom tile floor. Best of all, battery is interchangable with my B&D weed eater, blower, pole saw combo set. Replacement batteries are easy to get and about $32. With a B&D fast charger I can recharge in about 15 minutes. Update: after light use and 5 months, the power level button is not working and it is stuck on high power (medium sometimes if I toggle it alot). Cannot put on low. ON higher levels it uses the battery much faster. On high it goes dead fast. The box in came in and the manual cite a 2 year limited warranty....amazon sent no other documents re: warranty. Looks like I may have to send it to a service center. Can't call until next Monday. Disappointing. Update: Called B&D phone No. from the product manual. Their rep asked for email with copy of receipt, and photo of date code on Vac. Upon receipt of same, they sent me a UPS shipping label. I shipped product and 2 days later received a new replacement Vacuum. Excellent customer service by B&D. Hoping this one has a better power level switch. Fingers crossed. ... show more

I don't leave reviews. This product is awesome! My favorite part is you can break down the entire vacuum and clean it. You'll need to clean the filter or it will lose suction but once you do it works like new. I've had it for over a year. My house is about 1500 sqft, I did by a larger battery on Amazon, before it would get the job done but only on half power, with my 8.0ah battery I can vacuum entire house on high with ease and I tend to go over the carpet with a few passes. Would purchase again. Mom has a Dyson, is it as good as the dyson, not sure, but for the price we)l worth it ... show more

I got this vacuum after reading lots of reviews and thought it would be a great option for our home. During the winter I thought it was a nice vacuum other than trying to suck up crumbs under the dining room table that my robot vac can't reach. however now that it is spring dirt, sand and rocks are coming in (i live on a farm and have 3 kids and 3 adults and a dog in our household) it is horrible. It doesn't have enough suction power to pick up small rocks and it will just leave them behind or worse fling them back at you when you go to move. This vacuum also doesn't like changing surface heights so if you have area rugs and exposed flooring it will not suck up where they meet. It clogs easily in the tube that goes from thr floor head to the pipe. Dirt bin is a horrible design to remove and replace on the unit. I only use this vacuum in our entryway, stairs and stairwell landing and part of our basement. So far the only thing I still like is I can make it short enough for my toddler to use. I also like that I can use the same batteries as my drills. It's fairly light weight which I also like. I guess I am still searching for a good vacuum that has the power i need to remove the dirt. The photos I posted are of the rocks it leaves behind. And the stair rug I already vacuumed. ... show more

I LOVE this cordless vacuum cleaner. The vacuum power is great! Have had several other types/brands, and the internal battery gets weaker and I am racing around my house to try and clean before the battery dies. After awhile, the battery doesn't charge at all and you end up throwing the whole vacuum cleaner in the garbage. I was hoping Black & Decker would have a cordless vacuum, and behold they did! It uses the same external battery as all of my lawn/garden tools. The battery holds a much longer charge so I'm NOT racing through the house; but if I use all the battery 'juice', I have another one already charged (because I have them from my other tools, but I can also purchase extra batteries if I want). Getting the dirt bin on and off is a little tricky but I'm getting better at it with time. Wish I had thought about looking into Black & Decker years ago. Would have saved me money and frustration. You get what you paid for I guess. It's not particularly bad in getting the job done but it also does not perform exceptionally well such that I feel that I got a great deal out of this. There are 3 suction strengths to choose from and I generally use the strongest option for everything as I find that even then, it sometimes doesn't suck certain particles on the first pass even though they're just dry crumbs. The construction of the vacuum feels rather cheap and I find myself worrying that I'd break something on the vacuum every time I adjust it. Battery lasts approximately 20-30 minutes at full power, but takes a while to charge, and the light is very helpful in spotting dust in dim areas. Definitely not for deep cleans, but very sufficient for general use over the week. Overall, I would say I am satisfied with this purchase in regards to what I needed for my house, but would probably go for a more premium option in the near future. ... show more

I have many black and decker vacuums. And they are almost all car related. Even this one can break down to be portable. Black & decker is super cheap but they honor their warranties with lightning speed and zero hassle. Not everything is covered by warranty and warranties can be 1, 2, 3years etc. mostly 123 time frames tho. I've had some products that I let have it and aside from little minor things they are great still. This one I barely use but it performs fine. The fact that I can have multiple batteries so that I have a back up and one in the house charging is my main selling point and that alone coupled with the fact that unlike most no name vacuum brands it's not total trash. This one actually picks up dirt. The filter looks like something I would not want to replace tho. Although it pretty much will last a good long while. I even clean off my filter dry and reuse as well with the others so no reason why this wouldn't be the same. Use an old toothbrush some dawn soap good as newish. Aloha! ... show more
