I finally had it with the expense of keeping a Dyson Animal working and made a decision to try this. It is nice. Strong suction and works like a champ. I like the vacuum. The cons are no storage answer and no accessories. I spent another $50 for a wy to store it on the wall and a set of accessories so getting brushes (much better than Dyson BTW) was an additional expense. That said I am pretty confident this will work well. I recommend it. I would also suggest B&D add some extras. Updated after a few years of use and after having used two other hand vacs at similar price points. Originally rated this a 3-star but changed to 4. In other words, I’ve collected more data and reset my expectations to be commensurate with the price point/quality of this product relative to a few others. Great: The high suction mode works well. It’s a robust/durable vacuum compared to others in this price range I’ve tried since purchasing it a few years ago. Also, it’s proven to be a lot more robust/durable than I had expected (refer to the “Tip” part of this review). Neutral: Battery life is ok, about 20 mins of continuous use on high power. Roughly 3-4 hours to charge from zero. If charged and left unused, it seems to hold/maintain the full charge for ~3-4 weeks before there’s any need for a “top-off” charge. Room for improvements: The location of the waste hatch latch lends itself to getting bumped during normal use and is sensitive enough to immediately drop the hatch and dump its contents all over. The rubber flap which keeps the contents of the waste been from falling out of the suction tube tore off after a few uses. it’s been ok without it as long as I return the vac to upright before turning it off. Tip: I do not recommend buying the cheaper, generic substitution filter replacements. I do recommend getting the brand name filters which came with the vacuum. They are higher quality, last longer, and they fit better to form a seal between the waste chamber and the motor than the cheaper substitute filters. The two generic substitute filters I’ve purchased and tried with this vac didn’t form a tight enough seal between the waste compartment and the fan/motor/exhaust. It created an unpleasant situation (massive clouds of dust exhausted out through the fan/motor) and could easily have damaged the vacs internal components. That’s another reason I added a star - the vacuum runs very well even after the internal components were filled up with dust/dirt from two (generic substitute) filter failures. ... show more

It's good. It has good suction but I (so far) always use the high suction option. A lot of people here complaining about the noise. Of course it makes noise. It's a handheld vacuum cleaner for under $100 - what do you expect? Total silence? Easy to operate and easy to clean. On the possibly negative side, I can only figure out how to take out 1 filter whereas the included instructional manual says I should be able to take out two. That doesn't make sense. Otherwise, it's worth what you are paying for it. Ohh, and it charges quickly and so far has kept its charge for a while. I mean, I haven't run out of charge while using it yet, but I'm not trying to do my entire house with a handheld. ... show more

    • When i pay full price for something i expect it to be new.

So after i finally got around to using my "new" vacuum i got on Dec 7, i turn it on for the first use and white drywall shoots out the vents all over the area i was going to use it on one of the selling points is that it doesn't do that). Opening the dust bin, it was empty, however when i popped the filter off it was completely jammed full of and had a thick coating of drywall powder all over it (at least i hope that is what it was). I paid full price for a used item. In the last year I've has A LOT of issues with amazon products (most are inferior items, or not the item fully described), and especially the shipping, most of the boxes arrive with holes and crushed, or with a shipping label applied directly to the original packaging (so much for trying to be discreet when buying gifts). THIS EXPERIENCE IS THE WORST IN THE YEARS OF BEING A PRIME MEMBER SINCE JOINING IN 2007. Hopefully things improve in the next couple months or I'm going to be hard pressed in continuing my membership and go back to the good old way of buying things where i can see and feel them. ... show more

Works good. Relatively easy to dump the canister contents. The dirt filter cleans up pretty good with soap and water. Only complaint I have is the telescoping nozzle. The plastic nozzle can be pulled out (telescoped) about 12 inches in order to improve the reach, but normal cleaning pressure on the end of the nozzle causes it to retract. I have to keep pulling it out during cleaning...not a huge problem but kind of annoying. ... show more

I liked the suction of the vacuum cleaner and functional for some tasks that are minor. However, a brush attachment would be useful for vacuuming carpet, furniture, upholstery in the car. Usefulness is more limited than I expected.
