After years of using a corded weed wacker, I finally had enough the other day fumbling with a cord that kept falling out if you looked at it the wrong way and a spool feeder that always jammed. Man, why I didn't upgrade to this one sooner... I love the adjustability, the weight, the power and battery saving options, and the fact I'm not tethered to a (censored) extension cord! The first battery charge took several hours, but I was able to do the entire yard in one session once it was done. This thing handled Japanese knotweed with ease, which is an issue here. Other smaller weeds stood no chance either. And I'm not a tool savvy guy, but this was up and running in minutes once the battery was ready.

I absolutely love this trimmer! The weight is good, adjustable is great, two power options, self feeding string is super helpful! And the drop in trimline is easy! The battery takes awhile to charge but lasts about 20 min on high but just when I need a break from the heat!

The unit itself is very nice. Seems sturdily built and is lightweight. Adjustable length works well and locks securely. I question the need for two speed control, but their claim is the lower speed saves battery power. I am not sure how much of a difference it makes and changing speeds in use is not very intuitive. A better choice would be an in between speed which is permanent to get better cutting and a little longer battery life. My annoyance comes from the lack of much information about the "automatic line feed" and how it operates. The fact is, the user's manual is bare bones for user information. The booklet is small, is divided into three languages, and all of the "icon" diagrams to explain things are so small you need a magnifying glass. I wanted to know what triggers the line feed, how it knows to lengthen it, and how it knows to stop feeding. None of that information is in the book or on the Black and Decker website videos. Aside from that, the unit is built well and should be durable. It is a good value for the money.

As others have mentioned, I’m going from corded Black & Decker (cord getting tangled up in the bushes, pulling out of the unit, etc., etc. wasting time) until the line finally wrapped around the turning unit and broke the shaft. Time to go cordless I love the two speed on this, the edging wheel is a brilliant edition, and the battery lasted longer than I needed to to do the whole yard, I would highly recommend.

This is my third one of this brand and model. My first one lasted for years until I left it outside and it got rained on....and it died. The second one, same thing but only made it through one season. You'd think I would remember to keep it out of the rain! All kidding aside, I love the features of this, switching from edger to weed eater and back. The 20V batteries that come with it don't last too long so I would recommend buying more and an extra charger. There are also aftermarket batteries that are 40V and I think there is a 60V available that will have longer lives. I haven't gotten them yet because I think they may make it too heavy for me. I need it to be lightweight, which this weed eater is very lightweight. I am a 51 yr old female with limitations/disabilities and I prefer this one over a heavy gas one. Also, you can find pre-filled spools in bulk on Amazon. Just popped the empty spool out and pop in the pre-filled new one. No more need to have to wind up the spool, which I hated to do and never did it well. Do I recommend this ABSOLUTELY!! Black and Decker better not discontinue this or I have to stock up on them if they do.

5th year now and I am alive, and still extremely happy with trimmer. I have bumped my stars to 5. All that I wrote before still applies, I am older man with respiratory problems and I need all the help I can get maintaining the yard in the hot summer heat. This trimmer and my new small ride-on mower are my new two best friends. 1. No extension cords. What a wonderful freedom. (Circle a bush twice then go straight to the next !) 2. Lightweight. The shaft and work head rotate for sidewalk edge trimming and that's it. No head tilt or similar extras. I figure that's what keeps it lightweight and in the cost range it's in. 3. I bought this trimmer for trimming grass around places a mower can't get, weeds before they reach 3 feet tall and trimming sidewalk edges. It does that just fine in less than half the time it took with my old corded whacker. 4.Battery- I have busy yards with playthings, a garden, bushes, trees and flowerbeds with borders and more. They are fair size yards and it uses about a battery and a half. Unless you have small yard I suggest you buy an extra battery also 5. Dinky Charger. Yes it comes with a slow dinky charger but once again I believe considering the price range warrants a no star reduction. After purchase I found out I could use my Porter Cable 20v fast charger after a small simple battery alternation. It's a convenient, but I believe with the two batteries I could have made the slow charger work. 6. The wheel and sidewalk trimmer. Cool idea I think, just pull shaft collar up, turn shaft around then roll along sidewalk edge cutting grass hanging over the sidewalk. ( No, not made for trench digging like gas edgers :-) 7. Line out works as advertised. My string nightmares might be over. The filled cartridge it came with worked like a charm. Line out automatically when needed and no jams. I bought 2 extra refills later. There is an art to refilling your own and my lack of patience in the past has cost me grief. 8. Two speed. If you're thinking about it you'll probably will go with high speed, however the other day after finishing one yard I then noticed I had it on low. If your needs and thinking parallel mine somewhat I think you will find this a great buy.
