  • Exactly what I wanted
Size: 29x29in Color: Natural-n
I don't usually bother with product reviews but I had to for this one. I've wanted a kotatsu since I first found out about them, and this one is super nice. I didn't want to bother with a converter for the plug, and this doesn't need one. I thought the table might be on the flimsy side, but it's actually really nice and sturdy and will work well and look good as a coffee table when the weather is warm. It definitely looks like real wood in a light oak shade instead of a fake woodgrain print. Since I'm taller I thought the table might be too short but it's the perfect height, and the lower part of the legs look like they remove in case you need the table to be shorter instead. The heater is quiet and cozy, and this works with any type of blanket - no need to buy a fancy expensive kotatsu blanket. The instructions are a little hard to read due to small/blurry print, but if you've ever assembled a piece of furniture before you can probably manage without them. It was also really well packaged so that nothing could shift around or get broken easily - plenty of foam and wrapping to protect corners. You could probably fit 4 people around the table if they sat cross-legged, perfect for 1-2 people who want to stretch out a bit more. Altogether, I am thrilled with this thing. ... show more

  • Expensive, but looks good.
It works! It's expensive! I took a big gamble buying something so expensive with no reviews and poor pictures. My intention in buying this was twofold: I wanted a kotatsu as the centerpiece for my living room where my friends could hang out and where I could chill on the ground. I also just wanted a good looking coffee table. I'll update this review in a few weeks when I've used it more regularly. First things first! The positives! It looks great. I was kind of surprised? The pictures aren't the greatest so I wasn't quite sure. I love the table height extenders because it goes from a nice kotatsu into a nice coffee table. This is very easy to build. The instructions... kind of sucked though? I felt like it assumes you either have knowledge on how to build furniture already or just have common sense. I do not have either. It took me a minute to figure it out what the instructions were trying to say but once I did, I realized I was just an idiot and it took less than 5 minutes to fully assemble. Now! To the not so good. Bottom side of the table top doesn't look the greatest. YOU WILL NOT see it normally, but I did not like seeing it first thing upon taking everything out. One of the leg bottoms were cracked! It's probably not a big issue, but it was a little concerning. On top of the cracked leg bottom, one of the leg bottoms were a little scuffed - like, it has small splinters on the bottom kind of scuffed. I'll find out how noticable it is when I move into an apartment without carpet. Right now? Don't notice it. Picture added. Overall, I think... This will have been a good investment? Even if I never use the kotatsu function like I plan, this is going to be a good looking coffee table at worst. I'll update this entire review in a few weeks after regular use. For now? If you want a 120v kotatsu that doubles as a coffee table, I think this might work out for you. I did not want to mess with a converter, so this was a blessing in that sense. ... show more

  • Strudy and well-made
Very good so far. Nicely built. Easy to assemble. Beautiful natural wood finish. The top is hollow with a wood veneer. But, it's expertly done and looks like solid wood (but is much lighter...which is an advantage when removing the top if you're petite like my wife). Somewhat pricey, but I think well worth it when you consider the alternatives. I've owned kotatsus that cost less. They had plastic tops and were not as sturdy. Overall, I think it was a good buy. ... show more

  • Fantastic table but for the legs (and you can make it work)
This table is tall enough to be comfy but short enough to fuction as a nice coffee table. Heat ranges from very light to kneecap sauna. There are little bolts under the table to screw into your tabletop to hold it in place. I plan to puncture my futon to keep it in place even with the cover. My cat adores it, if it's off he's having a blast in his "tent" (blanket is sold separately I bought my own) and on low heat he likes taking naps. I've gotten my hand on the heater groping for the temperature dial and on/off switch and am pleased to report it burns neither my very sensitive hands, or my cats little doofus face. He tries to touch the stove, y'all. That's why I got this table. 0 cat burns from ill advised boopage. It does stink a bit the first 1-2 hours it's on as dust etc burns out. If you've ever had a space heater you know the smell. Your room doesn't even need to be well ventilated and it'll dissipate fast. My only complaint (which was enough to knock off a star) is that the legs are wobbly no matter how you tighten them. So that's incredibly frustrating. Instead of moving via push/pull the you need to lift and shuffle or risk a wonky leg going weird and causing damage. Not...ideal for a $400 table. ... show more
