  • Great Shampooer
Style: Revolution HydroSteam
I got this to replace my Rug Doctor shampooer. I hated the dirty water tank on the Rug Doctor, cleaning it was a pain and the drain was in a bad place. This one is easy to clean and the clean tank is easy to fill. The steam also really helps get stains out. I had a stain in my carpet that would never come out with other shampooers and this took it out the first try. I definitely recommend this shampooer. It's easy to use and clean, and it works very well. ... show more

  • Impressed with this carpet cleaner
Style: Revolution HydroSteam
This is a great machine. I like the steam feature, and the suction extracted well. It is super easy to refill the solution tank, and empty the waste. It did a good job deep cleaning a carpet.

  • Cleans well, fairly easy to use, not perfect.
Style: Revolution HydroSteam
This arrived well packaged and protected in a large box. It included the carpet cleaner, two attachments (one thin one and one with two changeable static scrubbers for the carpet), a hose, two samples of cleaner fluid, one specifically for urine, a nice bag to keep the attachments in, and a small manual. We have carpet that is 37 years old. It will be replaced, but in the meantime it is nice to have a carpet cleaner to brighten up the higher traffic areas. This worked perfectly and did a good job considering the age of our carpet (1988 or so). It did not get it perfectly clean like new, but I did not expect it to. The agitator (brush) worked very well. Brush spinning was fine without issues. The overall unit was surprisingly not very loud. Pretty much like a quieter vacuum. It did vacuum up most of the cleaning solution/water so water retention in the carpet was not bad, and dried fairly quickly (a few hours, although it was just slightly damp most of that time). I used the attachment with the changeable static scrubber and the hose to clean dark spots on the edges of our stairs. It was easy to attach and detach the hose, and it worked surprising well on some tough dark areas. The most difficult thing is the hose is shorter, about 7 feet. I was able to clean the whole stairs, but I had to do half from the bottom and half from the top. While this carpet cleaner is not very difficult to move around, it is somewhat heavy when full of water and you need to carry it up or down a flight of stairs. I only had one issue which is the reason for the minus one star. That issue was that after I stopped using the unit, dirty water would leak out that was apparently not fully suctioned up into the dirty water container (see picture). Now maybe I need to run the unit a bit longer after I was finished. I did run it some tho, so I do not know why this occurred. Luckily I had the carpet cleaner on linoleum so that the dirty water did not get back into the carpet. I wiped the floor with paper towels, and took the unit outside to clean and then dry in the garage. Overall, despite this one issue, I like this carpet cleaner and we will certainly give it a bit of use in our home. It cleans well, is not particularly noisy, and is easy to use and operate. ... show more

  • Great quality, did quite well on OLD carpet! Uses a lot of cleaning fluid, dropped carpet clumps
Style: Revolution HydroSteam
This has convinced me that if you have carpet (and choose to keep it), you should definitely own a steam cleaner--looking at the filthy water that came out from the tank is proof! I gave the Bissell a trial-by-fire on the old carpet at my grandparents' house which could be 80 years old, and perhaps never having been steam-cleaned before!. It's a pleasingly robust machine that is very easy-to-use (there's practically no instructions). While it would be a bit of a workout for a small person to do a lot of area with, it doesn't seem as laborious as the steam cleaners I've seen for rent at stores would be. It has attachments to use it on upholstery as well...so it's not just for carpet. The cleaner has two modes: one where it's quiet and pulling the trigger just blows steam on the carpet (for "pre-treating" stains), and another where it runs the vacuum and pulling the trigger will dispense the cleaner and steam. The cleaner/water mixture goes in the top chamber, and the dirty water is sucked up out of the carpet into the bottom chamber. NOTE: There is no stopper on the bottom chamber, so if you hold it wrong it will spill dirty water right back on the carpet--be careful or take it outside to empty it! While using this was satisfying overall, there were a few observations. One is that it you'll go through the solution at a good clip... it said use half a gallon of water + 2.5 oz of solution for a small area. I wound up needing to use over a gallon of water and at least 5 oz of solution to do two tiny strips on either side of a bed (they give you two 8 oz bottles of cleaner as samples with the unit...and say using non-Bissell branded cleaners could "damage the machine"). Granted--this was *dirty* carpet, but still it didn't feel like it was run over particularly many times to get the effect. What I found was that spot cleaner is actually pretty effective to get a lot of a stain up, so you might want to do a pass through with that so you don't have to do as many passes with the Bissel. The brushes also were quickly clumped up with bits of carpet fiber and dirt... so it left trails of bits and pieces of those clumps--which you can either pick up as you go, or vacuum after the carpet is dry. This may be particular to the very old carpet I was trying this on, it might have just had a lot of fibers that came loose easily and got mixed up with the dirt. Another thing is that it was variable as to how much water seemed to come out--I used the same process on the left half and right half of a bed and the carpet on the right half got far wetter for no obvious reason. But besides those surprising aspects it was a cathartic experience, and I'm pleased to have a carpet cleaner...until I rip this carpet out! ... show more
