  • Easy to setup, picks up well
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
We used a Bissell pet specific model of vacuum for the longest time until it died recently so we needed a new one. This one was our selection and it has been working rather well. It's powerful, easy to empty, and it has a lot of versatility in terms of its function given you can detach it from the body part. Setup was easy as you get all the main pieces and you just need to attach them together following the guide. It's also nice in the sense you see how that detachment piece functions so you're doing less guesswork when you want to utilize it. The detachment part is my favorite element as you can carry it up stairs more easily without a giant vacuum head piece banging around. In general it's a good vacuum that is a reasonable size, powerful suction, and easy to clean. I would recommend if you're in the market for a nice vacuum. ... show more

  • Top quality!
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
Just got my new Bissell 2998 yesterday and it’s already been used four times. It is light enough to lift from the box and assemble without instructions but I referred to them anyway. I like the way it all connects with a twist & lock or just a click without needing to refer to highly technical schematics. This is my third new vacuum in six years. Both prior vacuums, a Shark Liftaway and Bissell ClearView, still operate very well but my back and shoulders couldn’t take it any more. The ClearView is significantly more difficult for me to push, and the Shark is awkward. The new 2998 has fantastic suction and for some reason, I suspect it’s the closed HEPA filtration unit, it’s not pulling at my w-2-w carpet up the way the Shark did. Yet it’s powerfully extracting the finest dust particles! I’m just blown away by the power, quality, versatility, and most of all ease of cleaning. It came with an attachment for high dusting or hard to reach corners and the other for upholstery. I wish I had a before picture to share of my ottoman but I literally brought the original color back after two passes using the upholstery attachment. I also like that I can use the rollers or not and adjust for bare floors without having to bend or reach for the switch. The unit is more compact than most vacuums although it’s certainly weighty enough and it’s not made with cheap plastic. It’s actually a pretty appliance if you can believe it. I don’t know after so many months of searching, googling, using AI resources and finally the one embedded in the Amazon app - which I love! - I’m just so thrilled to finally have something to use that doesn’t make me feel my age. My back didn’t hurt once! I nearly selected a Eureka model for about $90 less, and for $200 more I could have the Shark Stratos that was in my cart for four days before finally finding this one. I made the right choice. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Bissell 2998
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
I like this vacuum. Pros: * It worked straight out of the box (i saw others had issues). * It was easy to put together. * I do like that this vacuum has long or short carpet switch. * I can see when it needs to be dumped and it is really easy to dump, too. * A little heavy but I have noticed lighter vacuums dont work very well so I dont mind. * You can get flexibility with the vacuum head (whatever you call it) but it also takes some getting used to. I was able to get it in corners and a little ways under my low couch. * When vacuuming the living room where everyone is (including my pittie), it seemed to be picking up the carpet as I went, lol. So that makes me believe it did a pretty good job. * The lights are very bright. I did not think I needed LED lights on a vacuum but here I am liking them! They help to see a lot better. Cons: * I didnt noticed much with the handheld attachment for dog hair. * Hair does get wrapped up around the roller even though it says it doesnt (when it actually picks it up). Im not sure how this would be avoidable and have never seen a vacuum that did not have hair wrap around it. My hair is also VERY long. * I did notice it doesnt pick up everything. We tested it on my daughter's NASTY floor that had earrings, fake nails, eyelashes, nose rings, etc everywhere (because if a vacuum could get that floor to look better, its a winner), and there was a clump of hair it would just not pick up. It wasn't that big either. It just flattened it to the carpet every time it rolled over it. * My allergies did start messing with me during and after vacuuming. Which I was hoping wouldnt be the case especially with the HEPA filter. I do wish there was somewhere I could put the attachments on the vacuum. Especially at that price. It picks up wayyy better than the Shark vacuum that looks very close to this model, but purple. The Shark smells awful and makes a horrible noise after only having it about 6 months. Hence, why I bought this vacuum. I can't really speak to build quality yet, but so far so good. I hope this vacuum lasts years to come. Do I think it is worth the almost $300 I paid for it, not really but i also havent figured everything out on it yet, either. Do I like it though, yes. I also appreciate that this company helps animals in shelters. Good causes will make me a sucker to choose your product over someone else's. ... show more

  • Absolutely Great!
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
I had a Bissell for about 5 years that stopped working. I guess maybe it was a clogged brush roller or broken belt. I did a ton of research on a new vacuum cleaner. As usual, there are always mixed reviews. I decided on this one because of the pet hair issue. We have 3 cats and the amount of hair that needs to be vacuumed is ridiculous. We recently had the carpet removed from the stairs, which was always difficult to clean. Today was the first use of this vacuum cleaner, and let me tell you, it's a great cleaner! Easy to assemble, much lighter than the previous one, suction is phenomenal, and so easy to use. I forgot it was a swivel type, and although I wasn't looking for that feature, it really is helpful. I like the power switch being close to the top, and the ability to turn off the roller is great for cleaning area rugs that can get sucked up. It even sucked up a cat toy by accident and was very easy to remove. I have a bad back, but this is very easy to use without any pain. The light definitely helps a lot too. I can't believe how much of a difference it made after just one use! The canister was full after just doing 2 rooms! Cleaning the machine is a breeze. Everything swirls around the center of the canister, and just falls out into the trash bag without having to pull it out like my last one. The cord rewinder would have been a nice feature, but that's about the only thing missing on this. Oh and the pet hair attachment is way more powerful than the previous one. Easy to clean that, too. Plus the HEPA filter is a definite necessity. All in all, I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner for everyone! Good job, Bissell! ... show more

  • fantastic piece of equipment
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
Wow, this works well for dog, cat and human hair! I don't have anything wound around the brushes and I'm picking up dust that I didn't know I had in the carpet. I'm very pleased! After a week of use (and continually dumping out the dog hair) I cleaned the filters, which is a simple job. The filter for the motor was not dusty at all. ... show more

  • Good vacuum, cleans well if only it had....
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
First, this vacuum cleaner cleans very well and overall I'm happy with my purchase. I was surprised how dirty my rugs were! I had an old Bissell Pet vacuum - bought it about 10-12 years ago and it was still going strong, but evidently not as strong as I thought. The versatile attachments are great! Having the option to remove the canister is great for when you need it off the ground (like for stairs or very high ceilings). This is for when you'll be holding the canister - it'll tip over if you set it down and stretch the hose - that's just physics. Having the option to remove the wand (whether you detach the canister or not) is also great. Having the option to remove the hose and use it without the wand is also very useful for getting under things. The cord is plenty long and there is a cold holder on the handle for when in use and is very helpful. It doesn't retract - it's manual wrap on the side of the machine; but I knew that when I bought this and that doesn't bother me, it's just one more thing that could break. Emptying the canister is very slick! Now, what I don't like: The handle (which is also part of the wand) is very tall and doesn't lower for storage. I'm 5'9" and it just makes it a little more cumbersome to move around. Using it as a wand, detached from the machine, is a little off balance and on the heavy side. It could be balanced better to hold as a wand is all. As an upright vacuum it is on the heavier side - halfway between my old Bissell and my heavy-duty Hoover. It does not have auto-forward, so it's difficult to move around but I've found if I keep the brush on "plush" mode it helps propel it. It's on a swivel but is difficult to reverse out of, if that makes sense. The brush attachment I've used once and it didn't work all that well. It has holes on the sides which lessen the suction. I didn't see a way to close those. I may try putting tape over them to see if that helps. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think so. The stick attachment is nice with a retractable brush. I do wish it were longer, but my stick from my old vacuum fits so I'll just keep that around. So, as a "budget" vacuum I still give it a 4-1/2-star rating and, like our last Bissell, it seems like it will last a long time. ... show more

  • I have NO idea what''s up with this model.
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
SORRY THIS IS SO LONG- EDITED WITH UPDATE ON JULY 6, 2023: After waiting for them to get back to me by 6/28/2023 (the date they gave me) I ended up calling them again on 6/29/2023 and for some reason I had to go through the issues all over again with a new customer service agent. They again went through ALL the same steps as before; take it to a service place, send it back and they would send me a new one, etc. At this point I told them I would like another model sent as I didn't have any confidence in this model. They agreed to send me another new model that was comparable; they had me look at it on the website while we were on the phone. I told them to send me a return label and I would send this one back and they could send me the new model. They then told me to "dispose of the machine". ??? Didn't they just tell me to send it back a minute ago? this makes me pretty sure they tried to fix the other one I sent back and then resent it to me. So, I got the "NEW" vacuum last Saturday (7/1/2023 - pretty fast since they didn't even call me back like they said they would..) and they sent me a USED machine. It had fingerprints all over it and it was dusty on the bottom part and the hose that came with it was as well. I was disappointment but I was just praying it worked. And of course, the back wheels locked up and the left one didn't want to move at all. At this point I almost wanted to cry, but I just didn't have the energy to call them yet again. I got the WD40 and tried to get the wheel to work. It's not perfect but at least it turns. It was completely locked up before. Hopefully this will work out, but this machine also has a 5 year warranty and I don't even want to jinx things by putting that out in the universe, but I will keep calling them until I get a working machine if I have to. They really won't want to keep hearing from me. Pray for me please. I'm so sick and tired of all this... I bought this in December 2022. Bissell is my go-to brand for vacuums as I've NEVER had issues with them. They've lasted YEARS until someone would physically break a part and we had to replace it. After a couple of months, the wire had frayed and after contacting Bissell they told me they would replace the machine and to throw out the old machine as it's a fire hazard (I did send them pictures as proof). Great. Got the new machine and it's fine. FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS? The machine just stops turning on. The on/off button wasn't clicking and it just was dead. They sent me a return label and I sent the unit back. Keep in mind I had thrown the box out so I had to create a new box in order to send it back. They then sent me "a replacement machine after checking" the one I had sent back. They sent me the second replacement in April. Third times a charm right?? Last Friday (June 23, 2023) the machine died AGAIN. The SAME button issue as before. Now, I don't know if they just tried to fix the button and sent it back or if it's actually a new replacement. I called them and they told me they would have to "look into the problem as it's the third time" I've had "issues with this model". I am now waiting for them to get back to me, but it could take them until Wednesday so I had to go and buy another vacuum in the meantime because my parents are extremely immune compromised so the hepa filter and other features seemed perfect for our situation. I will see what they can do for me, but I cannot recommend this model at all. ... show more

  • Worked well until it didn't
Style: MulitClean Lift-Off
I purchased this on April '25. PROS: I found that it worked really well on rugs and pet hair. Worked decently on hard floors. Had good settings. The pet hair attachment worked really well. Overall great suction. The bristles hardly got caught in anything. Long enough cable for a full tour in a studio apartment. Great for vacuuming the car too. Great filters and generally easy to clean. CONS: It's entirely too heavy for what it is. It doesn't weigh a ton but for a vacuum it shouldn't be so uncomfortable to transport. Unfortunately, in this day and age a cable is a con because in a large enough house you'll need to keep unplugging and plugging it back in. The cable CONSTANTLY got caught under the vacuum despite my best efforts, to the point that the cables rubber cover was completely exposed after just a few seconds under the suction. The narrow bristle is absolutely useless. Just a cheap piece of plastic and cheap bristles that doesn't work well when attempting to reach for tight spaces. Then the difficulty of even attempting to clean the roller is entirely unnecessary. I had to undo 6 screws just to check for a clog. I am no longer with this vacuum since the belt responsible for the rollers movement became damaged. This is on June 2026. So I had it for a total of 1 year and 2 months. So not really worth it in the long run. I'd only recommend this to somebody with a lot more understanding of this brands machinery. Because the moment it doesn't work it's done for. It's too expensive for the time I had it. ... show more
