Description

Philodendron ‘Birkin’ is a wonderful houseplant whose appeal can be pinned on the generous creamy white streakiness that’s overlaid on dark green leaves. The best part? No pattern is exactly the same, so each leaf sports its own look. Philodendron ‘Birkin’ takes its time to grow, so no worries about it quickly outgrowing its spot or crowding out neighbors. Yet, with time, it can reach 3 feet tall. 'Birkin' is a self-heading philodendron (meaning it does not climb and is self supporting). ‘Birkin’ thrives in medium to bright, indirect light, so near windows but not so close for direct rays. Such light will bring out the patterns that make ‘Birkin’ a standout houseplant. This is where sheer curtains are your friend, softening the impression of light that would otherwise be too strong. ‘Birkin’ won’t be its same festive, streaky self in low light. This philodendron is no water hog. Aim for slightly moist soil, allowing the top couple of inches to go dry or just about before watering again. Prefers average to above-average relative humidity. Although the stripey variegation is relatively stable, you might find yours producing some unexpected colors or patterns. All green, slight variegation, full cream, or even some pink. You never know for sure what you’re going to get with each new leaf, but that’s what makes it so fun!

Revision: they got it right this time all 4 of the Philodendrons came right on time. Everything was beautiful and healthy so I changed my 2 star rating to a 5 Star. Super happy with this purchase. I had been wanting one of these for some time. It was a good size an beautiful for about 2 weeks. Then the decease/fungus showed up and pproceeded to destroy it. (10/24) I had spent $25 for a copper spray I was assured would work. NOT SO. 2 yrs before I lost 1/2 of my plants (8-10) to this same thing. It starts with a dark spot on a leaf that speads out with brown,orange and yellow. I no longer by plants on Amazon as this is not the only company I've had this problem with. ... show more

My little Philodendron Birkin arrived healthy and intact. It was already somewhat root-bound in its 6” grower’s pot, so I’ve temporarily transplanted it into another vessel, but it appears stable and robust! The uppermost leaves exhibit visible white variegation, while some of the lower leaves are solid green or slightly mottled. The mission statement of this company appeals to me, and I’m anxious to see how this plant changes and develops once it becomes acclimated to its new east-facing windowsill. I anticipate this little houseplant will be easy to care for, and I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far. It will add some variety to my indoor plant collection! ... show more

I hot evey color, even one not shown, it's yellow and orange, leafy, lots beutiful. I mixed them all I put light over them, I saw my pictures but the asked for another review, I'll show my yellow/orange/green one ( box came crushed twice and one was open taped back up with 2 plants missing, so it's not looking great) plant lites make them a centerpiece!! Love them last 2 are only one month apart, it's huge, not one was wilted, even after planting. the last picture is a month later, one on the right is my lamp lover, ive had for years,) its the other one of course,even after planting, well, I did use B1 and rooting hormone..to help transplant shock. I got their Philodendrons, I made a cute plant stand with lights, all from them! Pyladendendons are from them. Beutiful! Just planted them in one 2 baskets. Those are a must have, can't killed, never have yet! Low light, I had one in hot storage and 2 months later a little water and I still have him. Robert plant. Lol to zeppelin fans Great for beginners!! Kids, and make new cuttings. That how gramma taught me, now I bonzi, I'll take a cutting from anything I like, or strleal them!lol ... show more

Well packaged. 3 out of 4 plants were in great condition, the 4th was terrible. I find it hard to believe that this happened in the quick shipping time frame....i.e. I'm pretty sure they just shipped a dying plant and said f it. Without that one plant, this is 5 stars, but dropping to 3 simply because I find it hard to believe that it wasn't already dying and shipped anyways. ... show more
