Phenomenal performance! This tiller only weights 24 pounds, but it chews up the grass and soil easily. After the first few passes in each section we stopped, cleaned the air vents, unwrapped vines from the tines, and kept going. We raked out clumps of crabgrass and any rocks before adding fortified top soil with peat moss and blended it well to prepare the bed for planting. The tiller helped by kicking the clumps to the side while we were using it, simplifying the process. By the way, when I say "we", I'm referring to my 80+ year old mother and myself. That's another reason for the excellent rating. Even a petite older woman can handle this machine! I selected this one for her after much research, including reading these reviews.     • Does the hob, worth the money and easy to assemble
Yes this item worked fine for what we needed it for, we just needed to till up certain areas in our yard to plant grass seed and it did a good job, alot better than having to rent a great big tiller for a smaller space. It will also be alot easier to store than a bigger tiller. It was well worth the money and very easy to put together and its not big and bulky like most are. ... show more

Hang on tight, or it will get away from you! If you have Bermuda grass, clean the blades very often. Although mine is mostly brown, I went the full length of the garden before checking the blades and it probably took me 20 minutes to get it unwound. (There won't be any of that in heaven!) And the soil is rock-hard and dry, and I have quite a dust storm going Anyway, I didn't think it was that loud but it sure shakes me a lot. This is the first time I've tilled it so there's a lot of that dang grass. I did plant vegetables in it and just kept it halfway under control with the weed eater. I want to do it right next summer. 8 SW Missouri, and this is the first time I've had issues with Bermuda grass strangling out my flower bed, so this garden will be a big project. This tiller can handle it, but it's not going to be done in a week! I bought the smaller one, the 16".I also purchased the extension cord it suggested and it reaches from the house to the back of the lot by the sound wall. It was also very easy to put together just by looking at the photo in the instruction book I do wear safety glasses and recommend gloves, or you will have blisters in 5 minutes. Update: I am half done already so I'll have it finished in 2 days total. It's going faster than I thought. ... show more

I bought this tiller to help me dig out a perimeter drain around our sunroom. I needed something to soften up the dirt so that I could shovel it out. It worked great. The soil was packed down hard and there were plenty of rocks and roots to contend with as I dug out approximately 50 feet long and 18 inches deep. I had to use a pick axe and mattock for the big stuff but this little tiller exceeded my expectations. If it hit a big rock or root, it would bounce up and I’d stop and cut or dig the item out. It could handle little rocks, roots and hard dirt just fine. We completed the project and it still runs strong. My wife is looking forward to using it in our small garden this spring. ... show more
