I was able to take these and use them on a camping trip this weekend. They are larger than I expected, and pretty heavy-duty. They cannot be used one-handed. I like that they fold down relatively small so they tuck away in my camping gear nicely. They were able to grab decent-sized pieces of wood so
that I could rearrange the fire (after the teenager threw a bunch of wood in that shouldn't have been there). They're a nice addition to my gear.

Very sturdy and easy to use

m to try them, and now he loves them! The tongs are very well made, a good weight, and easy to use. The function of the tongs is very easy, and allows him to reach wood pieces, even underneath other pieces, as needed. r of the Bettermade Fireplace Tongs is commendable. They easily picked up logs of various sizes and shapes without any struggle. This feature came in handy, especially when dealing with heavier pieces that would have been a challenge to lift with ordinary tools. With these tongs, I could effortlessly arrange the logs in the fireplace, creating a cozy and well-stacked fire. The length of 26 inches was ideal for maintaining a safe distance from the fire while still having a firm grip on the wood. This kept my hands protected from the heat, and I could maneuver the logs with ease. However, I must admit that the tongs felt a bit heavy after prolonged use. While the weight contributes to their sturdy build, it did cause a slight strain on my arms during extended periods of fireplace maintenance.

Great for Small Firepits or Braziers

I really like this pair of tongs. They feel well constructed and can handle a bit of abuse (which I'd expect from wrought iron). This does have limitations, but it's all but perfect for my use case. The typical 4-piece split firewood for a camp fire is a great fit for the tongs, but it could be prett
y challenging to pick up something larger/heavier than that. I had a bit of hesitation since I wasn't sure about the finish, but it seems to hold up to the heat and scrapes from wood without a problem. Of course, iron rusts when bare, but if the finish does somehow wear off, I'd imagine fixing it would be as easy as seasoning a cast iron skillet.

Such a great addition to our backyard

Absolutely love this little fire pit and it's the perfect addition to our backyard. Perfect for smore roasting and being able to cook on the top grate. It does look like the bottom is starting to rust a bit but this is likely due to being left outside. Still-a great firepit for the value.

Overall, this is a pretty good fireplace tong. It is heavy duty and well made, almost to a fault. It is quite heavy and heavy duty. I like it, it works well, but I guess I am more accustomed to lighter weight indoor fireplace tongs, so this seems a bit more difficult for me to use than I am accustome
d to. All that being said, it is definitely well made and does the job, so if you are looking for something to help with your outdoor firepit and moving logs around, this definitely helps do the job.

This works quite well. It can scissor open all the way to the handle and when closed, it has a practical range of around 15 to 26". The arms have a small circular groove to help grip the log, but the diameter is maybe around 3". If your log is thicker than that, it can still grip it relatively well t
hough it won't be a tight grip. I managed to grip a 6" thick log at most, and it sometimes slips out if I don't grip it exactly perpendicularly. However, to be able to lift that ~15 lb without any twisting of the tongs and transferring my grip strength relatively efficiently is a testament to the quality of these tongs. Dragging a log is far easier than lifting it. The handles aren't particularly ergonomic but are sufficient. I think this can also be used in forging or smelting.
