  • Relatively Easy Upgrade that gave me a 2nd Hdd in my MacMini 2014
Relatively easy to install (It's much easier than taking everything out to replace the SATA drive) but it seams like the SATA connection is faster than this one. For anyone embarking on this upgrade use this as the 2nd drive and an updated SSD in the SATA port for the OS. That will make it feel like a brand new computer. Even with the OS on this drive this 2014 mac mini is very snappy now in late 2024. ... show more

  • Great deal for Mac Mini upgrade but use 3.3v 1.4A NVMe
Great deal for mac mini upgrade but had issues with a couple of 512GB 3.3v 2.8A NVMe. The system would crash after formatting the drive, so no installation was completed. I prepared the drive in an external case, and loaded the OS, but when the drive was reinstalled in the system it would crash a few minutes after the OS loaded and kept boot looping. I replaced the drive with 512GB 3.3v 1.4A NVMe and tested with a few 3.3v 1.2A and it worked fine. This upgrade speeds up the boot time for the mac mini a lot. Thanks. ... show more

  • Perfect way to upgrade 2014 Mac Mini
This was simple to install and worked out of the box. I used it to upgrade a 2014 Mac Mini that had an HDD. This adapter is way way simpler than replacing the HDD, which requires taking apart the entire computer. Now I just use the HDD for time machine backups.

  • Immediate 200+ MB/s internal disk transfer increase over apple supplied SSD
Put this into my I7 2014 Mac Mini. Mine came stock with a drive already in the slot on top, but it was an M2 SATA drive. It had the factory installed adapter in place which I chose to completely remove in-tact in case I needed to revert to it if the drive I bought ever failed. Black magic speed tests on the factory were about 400-450 MB/s. It was also 256gb which to me was too small as I planned on installing Windows 10/11 on a bootcamp partition. I chose the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1tb drive and along with this adapter transformed the little mini. I now get 700+ MB/s. Huge increase which you can feel when launching apps. To do Windows 11, it's easiest just install Windows 10 first using the bootcamp assistant, then while booted into windows put a bootable windows 11 thumb drive in and run setup. You're going to have to edit the registry at the point where it says this device doesn't support Windows 11 and viola I'm now running windows 11 and yes you will be able to do windows updates without an issue. For anyone interested just google search "install windows 11 on an unsupported device using registry edit". The proper keys to hit on the mac keyboard are: shift + F10 to bring up the command prompt during the installation. Couldn't be happier with this, the increase in speed is a welcome upgrade and keeps this mac mini now viable. ... show more

  • Didn't work for me
Sorry - maybe it's my Mac (late 2014 mini), but it was not recognized by this machine. Cleaned the connections, used a recommended m.2, but as far as my machine was concerned it didn't exist. Great idea, would've been perfect had it worked in my machine.
