This inverter runs my Haier refrigerator no problem. I used a 35 amp hour Mighty Max AGM battery from Amazon. It starts and runs fine, but only a couple of hours. I think I was able to add 0.4 kwh to the charge and then got about half that much in AC back into the fridge so I would need a few of those batteries to go all night. Also, a BIG success and the main reason I got it was that it runs my electric 8 amp chain saw perfectly with that same battery. It outlasted me and still showed a 95 percent charge on charger after working for an hour in the woods. Cuts through those trees like butter, and unlike the inverter I got at Walmart it doesn't shut off. Of course, the bigger battery may help too. I love that electric chain saw. No gas, no smoke, no yanking your arm out of the socket. It's great for trimming. I think I have used that same saw to cut up a 12" diameter oak last year too, and it could go bigger probably. So, if you have to chain saw away from an outlet this is a good inverter.

I love it, but it will not be adequate for power tools over a particular amperage. I have a 13 amp Sears Craftsman circuar saw, and I need the 2000W unit. I was even recommended to me, that I look into a "2nd battery" setup in my truck, so that I do not have to use the battery which starts the truck. This prevents having to let the truck idle - burning fuel - while I use the saw. I heard, through talking with a Stihl tool representative, that most battery operated power tools (which require a charger), that the charger doesn't endure the power inverter through frequent usage. You could prematurely wear your power tool charger out. I just buy three or four batteries for the power tools as such, because the charging time is often too long, and my trip from my shop, to the customer is not that long. It wouldn't have time to charge in my truck, anyway! 'Just charge them all in your shop, overnight. It's fine for a winch, though. This unit is okay for small snowblowers and lawn mowers with electric start features, but the 2000W is better for them also.

This inverter works well, and hasn't broken on me yet. The fan only runs when under load, which is a big deal for me on the rare occasion that I plug in a low power AC device for longer periods of time. It runs my 1/2" drill, small hot dog air compressor, and 400W blender just fine. It can't run my 1650W circular saw (obvious, but I tried it anyway). At this price/watt you're never going to get pure sine, so I don't take off any points for the modified sine wave; the only thing that I've had modified sine fail for is an electric blanket. My only complaint is that the overvoltage threshold is a bit low. When lead acid batteries are used in cold weather, applying the proper temperature compensation results in a rather high charging voltage. In my solar setup this causes the voltage to go high enough during a cold sunny day that the overvoltage limit trips if I have the inverter on. It doesn't damage it, but it does either cause the fan to run continuously when not under load or shut off the inverter entirely. If I need power, I can turn it on and quickly start a 300W+ load which causes the battery voltage to dip just enough to exit overvoltage territory. This isn't an issue if my batteries aren't below 50F, I'm not actively charging, or if I didn't do temperature compensation (a bad idea for deep cycle battery longevity, but a car alternator probably doesn't compensate).

I'm finally reviewing this 1000W inverter after 7 years of reliable service! I've left this thing outside just under an awning for the last few years and it's been completely soaked and covered in snow more than once (northern Michigan). I just set it next to the wood stove for a bit and it's fine. I know I've been doing it wrong, but dang this thing really is a trooper!

Don't have solar? Don't have a stand alone generator? Well this inverter is the next best thing. Last time the electricity went out in my neighborhood I was the most popular guy on the block, hooking this up to my neighbors cars every six hours to save the stuff in the fridge. Now, than goodness, they all have one of these and so should you. Don't trust the grid and don't let your car go below half tank and get an inverter like this one. Very simple to use and if you want, you can use it to watch TV and run a few lights too.
