  • Pretty decent tripod
Style: Carbon Fiber
This is a pretty decent tripod. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because of two issues I found. First, the rubber feet leave marks on my wooden tables and vinyl floors extremely easily if they sit for awhile or are slid. They need to be cleaned up with water and a paper towel. Very annoying. Second, the tripod is visibly off vertical right out of the box. I have all the legs fully retracted and the center vertical stem extended and it is visibly leaning to one side. Not a huge issue but it speaks to quality. Other than the above, it's a nice tripod. The included mount is decent for a basic one though I do like that you can remove it entirely and replace it. That's what I did. The included quick change mount is compatible with Benro's others. ... show more

  • Great tripod
Style: Aluminum
I have to say, it's hard for me to give the average review on the nature of its durability because I've most certainly put it to the test. This guy has been my throw around, backup for whatever project, bring it just in case, "can I borrow this" tripod for a couple of years now. Throughout its test of time, I have to say it has proven to be quite a beast in terms of handling the brutality of being the tripod that never gets put in a case. It's been on hikes, contorted in as many unique ways possible, thrown dropped tossed and borrowed. Rained on, trunked for weeks, probably sat on and most likely fenced with against other tripods. It's even been temporarily replaced by what I thought would be a better product in a Manfrotto, then returned back to the lineup after proving to perform better. In this time, yes, it's gotten a tiny bit shaky. Just about to the point that I'll most likely toss it's attachment piece in the extras bag and scrap the body into the land of misfit camera gear - but I have to say, this guy is worth the price you pay and will most likely achieve you a handful of solid years of use. ... show more

  • Great Tripod, Head could be better, No Spiked Feet
Style: Carbon Fiber
I purchased this tripod before going to New Zealand on holiday. It was amazing, extremely lightweight and easy to set up. It also comes with a great carrying bag. Now for the downside. The head only has one adjustment knob, so to unlock rotation you also unlock your ball. Benro was nice enough t place a degree of rotation mark on the base of the head, but I don't see the point as when you unlock the head your ball will rotate as well. Unfortunately it doesn't end there. the rotation isn't smooth at all, so this tripod isn't for anyone that needs a smooth sweep motion. At least without a new head. I purchased a carbon fiber tripod to be light weight, but that comes at a premium. a premium that doesn't include replaceable or spiked feet. It has rubber feet that seem to be glued in. I didn't want to pull to hard to test that theory as I was afraid I'd ruin my new tripod, which over years of use with rubber feet will get ruined anyway. With that being said, This tripod does have its uses, armature hobbyist would be the best description at to whom this would be a good tripod for. Fortunately for me, I currently fall into that realm so its the best for me! ... show more

  • Exactly What I was Looking For - Read My Update
Style: Carbon Fiber
Perfect simple, compact and lightweight tripod for travel and hiking. The build quality for this low price is ridiculously good. Update: I knocked a star off because before getting this outdoors, paint chipped off near the area where the legs meet the shoulders. No moving parts come into contact with this spot so it is simply a matter of a glitch in the paint. It is a small spot and not a huge deal, functionality the tripod is just fine. I am in the process of returning it, only as a precaution against further paint chipping. I have already ordered a replacement. I am still impressed with the build quality, but obviously, the finish turned out to be slightly less than perfect. After being hands on, I still think this gets the balance between size and stability right and at a very attractive price point. The ball head is basic but very solid. The only downside is there is no positive locking action (no release button) for the plate. If using the supplied Acra Swiss style plate (which is quite nice), there are two pins that provide a degree of protection by preventing the plate for sliding out is loosened only slightly. For plates without these pins, like my Peak Design plates which I have on all my gear, there is zero protection -- so be very careful. This is a contributing factor to dropping my rating by one star. ... show more

  • Wonderful Tripod for the Weight Conscious
Style: Carbon Fiber
I saw one of these in a store and thought the price must have been mis-marked; no way could there be a Benro CF tripod that inexpensive! I didn't buy it then, but later purchased through Amazon and I could not be happier. I've used a full size Benro for a few years and love it, but wanted something smaller for travel as airlines seem to get more difficult each day with weight and size. Like other Benro models, the build quality is outstanding, and all the mechanisms work with smoothness and precision. The ball head is great for photography and allows quick and accurate positioning of the camera (but other head choices would be better for video). I've found that I much prefer the circular leg clamps used by Benro over lever clamps used on some manufacturers - you can unlock all three clamps on a leg with one hand and one quick motion. The tripod folds compactly and fits nicely inside a carryon or I can strap it onto the side of my small camera day pack. Although I really like my full size Benro, I imagine it will end up staying in the closet and I'll take this little one instead for occasional excursions. The best tripod is the one that you have with you, and this travel model is much more likely to be at hand. Overall, it's a well built, low weight, compact tripod perfect for those who travel or want something light but don't want to give up the build quality and operation of a much more expensive model. ... show more
