I got these to replace a similar light that we had above our basement stairs. That light was stuck up with Velcro and kept falling down. I was really impressed with the mounting hardware for these. They have two metal pieces with adhesive pads that can be screwed where you’re hanging them. The lights then stick to them magnetically. They’re also quite bright. Much brighter than our old light. You can choose between three different colors of light one is a little too blue for me, but the warm white setting is perfect. You can choose between the light being on, off, or auto. In the auto mode it comes on by motion for a few seconds and then shuts off, perfect for our basement stairs. I really only needed one, but it comes with two and after playing with them I realized that it would be great above the toilet. We can set it to auto and if one of our kids wakes up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night the light comes on for them. It has improved the boys’ aim quite a bit! The battery life is good, but I don’t think it’s as great as the listing claims. I found that left in the “on” position the light is usable for about 4 hours. After a certain point the light starts getting dimmer and dimmer until it isn’t super useful anymore. That said, we’ve been using them in the auto mode and I turn them off during the day when we don’t need them. I get a little over a week between charges this way. Overall, I’m impressed with these. At some point I will need to hardwire under-cabinet lighting. However, in the meantime... I needed six lights, initially. But always having a charged-up set of six lightwands when I needed LIGHT seemed an impossible task so, I bought a SECOND batch of six lightwands. THEN, I found having all those lights charging in my kitchenette to be a space-hogging, cords-everywhere, cumbersome pain... until I accidentally got one lightwand half-stuck for a second on the side of my microwave and, like Dorothy and her ruby slippers, realized I had the solution to my problem all along. Now, whenever the first set is attached to the underside of my cupboards, the second set is charging tidily on the side of my microwave. It was lucky I had a slender charging station (link) and a bunch of short usb cords(link) from Amazon lying about, unused (see photo). Some suggestions/thoughts, from MY experience/needs, which may be different from yours: * If I turn all my lights to the brightest settings even brand new, all lightwands aren't equally bright. With 12, 8 or 9 get truly bright. The others, not quite. * On a RECENT, full charge I get one night of steady moderate light (with some moments of bright light while cooking, prepping, or doing dishes). I need to have the lights I'm using FULLY CHARGED every night or the light will fade when I need it. * When I have last nights' set of lights (first set) in their brackets. The second set is charging on the side of my microwave. After all lightwands are fully charged, I unplug the charging station (I don't trust keeping lithium batteries hooked up longer than I have to). However, the charge with these lightwands dissipates FAST. So about 30-45 minutes before I switch out the first & second sets (I actually wrote "1" and "2", in marker, on the undersides of each lightwand so I don't mix anything up) I plug in the charging station again, the red (no charge) lights all come on, but I usually have all blue lights again within 30-45 minutes. Weird, but at least the lightwands still have most of their charge, from earlier. * I keep my lightwands ON, at about 35-50% brightness, but for short bursts I use 75-100% brightness. * I find the automatic on/off sensor utterly unreliable. Some come on immediately most come on nd shut off fast, some don't come on until I step away 🙄. So, yeah, these lights are working for me, for now. But I will be much happier when my cabinet lights are hardwired and on a single dimmer switch for all under-cabinet lighting. Though, these will probably still be used with my stove hood. Not sure that area can even BE hard-wired. These little lights are fantastic for back lighting under your cabinets. I even added 2 over my sink area. I'm probably going to buy more for other areas of my house, and I think they would make a great gift. The light is dim yet you can see very well with it, and the motion sensor feature is so incredibly handy and I don't know why but fun to use. My kitchen lights up one by one when I walk in and the lights go off in order once I leave. Lol I guess thats just one of the little things in life to enjoy. They charge pretty fast and attach with sticky tape on wall +metal +magnet so you can take them down easily to recharge with USB cord. ... show more
