Description

Style:Silver (Desk Lamp) Do your eyes sometimes hurt when you’re working on your computer, reading a book, doing paperwork or even just playing on your mobile device? You may be in a poorly lit environment. Most offices and libraries already have decent desk lamps to illuminate the room. However, even the best desk lamps perform poorly and can even cause reflection glare on computer screens and gadgets. That’s why we re-imagined, redesigned and revolutionized the common desk lamp to match changing times. Introducing the BenQ e-Reading Desk Lamp. The World’s First Lamp Designed for e-Reading. We live in an age where most of our time is spent staring at screens, from e-readers for reading our favorited books, to computer screens and mobile devices for work and play. That’s why we need a task lamp that is specifically designed for the digital era. Unlike the regular task lamps, the BenQ e-Reading lamp has wider lighting coverage. Developed specifically for the usage of monitors, kindles, tablets, and other devices, as well as for use in large workspaces, the desk lamp distributes light evenly across the desk. It delivers a 90cm illumination range, 150% wider than any regular reading lamp, helping you see everything from your keyboard to your entire desk. Its patented “brighter at the sides, darker in the middle” illumination is designed to eliminate glare. When using the computer, lighting should be sufficient for you to see the text as well as the screen. But in most cases, the bright light on the display screen "washes out" the images. The lamp's intelligent e-Reading mode reduces the contrast glare and the reflection on your screen. To enable it, just touch the metal ring for 2 seconds. The built- in sensor detects the ambient lighting, delivering “brighter on the sides, darker in the middle” illumination. Reduced glare on your screens means longer, more comfortable hours for work, play, reading, surfing the net or just enjoying digital media. The control knob makes this lamp completely adjustable to your needs. You can easily switch from relaxed mode to mode suitable for working with just a simple twist of the knob. Select warmer light tones when reading to relax. Select the cooler tones when doing tasks that need you to concentrate and be alert. With the BenQ e-Reading lamp, life, work, play and entertainment becomes sheer joy. Get your BenQ e-Reading lamp today. Illuminate more and see the difference.

  • Died immediately after the warranty period
Style: Swing Arm Desk Lamp (Silver)
So I bought this lamp and had a very good experience with it, enough to buy a second one as a gift. Unfortunately, 4 months after the warranty period finished (16 months of ownership) my lamp completely died, did not power on at all. The customer service is a complete disaster, taking over TWO WEEKS between each email exchange which resulted them just telling me that it was out of warranty and I was out of luck. In case your power supply or any individual components fail, BenQ does not sell any individual replacement parts. Absolutely do not recommend. 2 stars for poor long-term quality and useless customer service. ... show more

  • Best lamp for avid studiers / desk workers
Style: Swing Arm Desk Lamp (Silver)
Let me begin by saying this is the best lamp I've owned for studying / work. As a software engineer that is also a full time grad student, no other lamps specifically target people who need extremely clear illumination at their workspace. However, for such a premium / costly product, there are issues I have with it. Pros: + The arm is extremely stable and sturdy. There is no need to twist screws to hold the angle in place. No matter the angle, the lamp remains steady. + The lighting is so evenly distributed across my desk and monitor, that no glare occurs. + Lighting is extremely powerful and the dimness / color range is fantastic. + Cloth wire and metallic build is all very well done. Cons: - The touch ring is gimmicky and too pronounced. Several times I just hit it by accident and turn the lamp off. - The ambient light feature is not very useful for my purposes of studying from a monitor. There should've been ways to adjust the light strength that the ambient light corrects itself too. At the moment it seems too dim. - It could've been even better with charge ports built in. - Wish there was a way to save the current settings I have. Imagine one that you save for studying as opposed to one for near bedtime. - Should've came with the clamp (sold separately) - There are no resources online to give you an idea on the best placement for this light would be in your context. It took me a while to adjust it to my purposes. ... show more

  • Best desk lamp you can buy. Excels in every meaningful way.
Style: Swing Arm Desk Lamp (Blue)
My eyes are not what they used to be. They tire easily, particularly in the presence of glare. When I saw these lamps, which are designed to light your desk without washing out your monitors, I was pretty intrigued. The price was a bit of a shock for a desk lamp, but I had bought OTT brand lights before, which are similarly expensive. So, I decided to try one. This lamp is so much better than anything else I've used before that I purchased 3 more of them for my various work surfaces and my wife's office. The light actually delivers on the promise of not affecting the visibility of your monitors, while simultaneously lighting up the full width of your desk like no lamp I've used. Unlike the OTTs, these didn't become more annoying than helpful after a couple months of use. Those OTTs were daylight temperature fluorescent lights. The color was warmer than normal green fluorescents, but the fluorescent flicker eventually drove you crazy, if you are sensitive to that. The Good: 1. No glare on your monitor. I have 3 large monitors on my desk. None of them are affected by this desk lamp, even at full intensity. 2. Truly desk-wide illumination. The curve of the fixture allows for an even light to be spread across the entire width of a large desk if it is positioned high enough. My computer desk is about 6 feet wide. This lamp stands on one end of the desk. The adjustable neck is extended upward almost as high as it can possibly be. Every corner of the desk is well-lit. 3. The level of brightness is fully adjustable. The highest setting stops just short of becoming obnoxiously bright. The lowest setting would suit even the most light-adverse folks. It is infinitely adjustable to any level between those extremes. With my failing eyesight, I keep it on the brightest setting always. 4. The color temperature is also fully adjustable between glacier white and warm morning sunshine yellow. Different colors of light affect peoples' moods and energy levels. I personally prefer a light on the warmer side, around 3000 Kelvin, when I'm relaxing. The warm light lulls you toward eventually dozing off. But when working, I like to be closer to 4000 Kelvin. This temperature helps me stay wider awake and more productive by reducing the amber shift of the light. While everyone prefers something different, this lamp accommodates virtually everyone by letting you adjust the light infinitely between the lowest and highest temperature settings. I have even found myself adjusting it partway through the day for a boost to my waning energy levels or to reduce eyestrain. 5. Zero annoying flickering. You won't miss it a bit. The Bad: 1. Price. If you have never spent this much on a desk lamp, you may find yourself temporarily traumatized by the price of this lamp. I have to say though, it is worth the money. The flexibility and reduced eyestrain are hard to live without once you have experienced it. Overall, I highly recommend this desk lamp if you are experiencing severe eyestrain using other less-expensive, poorly-designed desk lamps. You can adjust this lamp to suit virtually any combination of brightness and color temperature you prefer. Through trial and error, you may even discover that the light you thought would help you best actually doesn't. That's the beauty of infinitely adjustable light. You aren't stuck with what you got out of the box. In my opinion, worth every penny. We love all four of ours. ... show more

  • Excellent lamp and design, questionable quality as failed in less than 3 years
Style: Swing Arm Desk Lamp (Blue)
While I have throughly enjoyed the design and function of this lamp which I thought was high quality until it failed and will no longer turn. I contacted BenQ support to seek repair options which are prohibitively expensive since my product is out of warranty. I completely understand the need to pay for repairs for an out of warranty product. What has me concerned is that this product only provided 3 years of use before failing. I expected a longer useful life. I was quoted $85 for diagnostic and labor, $20-$30 for shipping plus parts for a product that is less $300 for me all in with lamp and the floor extension. I will not be purchasing a replacement BenQ based upon the lifespan I have experienced. I have two more of these which, so far, are still working. I am hoping this was an anomaly and my two remaining working lamps continue to work for years to come. I hope others find my experience beneficial when making purchase decisions for this product. September 13 update. After weeks af back and forth with BenQ I was offered a replacement for shipping costs which I accepted. BenQ has stepped up as I am out of warranty. I will update my review once the replacement has been received and I know the final shipping charges. ... show more
