  • Beautiful and Excellent Quality
Color: Black
This is a beautiful curio cabinet that goes together very easily. It does take time but the parts all fit correctly, and the instructions are easy to read. The only drawback I would say is the light, the lighting is not good so I’m not even using it. I took the light out and bought some puck lights and put those inside there. ... show more

  • Beautiful China cabinet! A lovely upgrade.
Color: Cherry
After years of storing China and crystalware in a clunky old cabinet that had space for a tube TV, we finally decided to graduate to something more sleek and functional. The cherrywood finish is very pretty, and the cabinet, though compact, is elegant, and it holds everything we wanted to showcase. It because quite the showpiece during the holidays. Is it tricky to build? I can see how it could be for some. I like building stuff, so I laid out every piece and every bag of parts and made sure nothing was missing. My husband helped me, and yes, you do really need two people and patience. We did not kill each other! Think of it more as a team building experience, lol. I found it fun and relaxing. Of course if that sounds like a horror to you, there are plenty of pre-built cabinets out there, but not at such a great price point. I love turning on the light and admiring my antique china and stemware. The fact that I built it myself, the WE built it, makes it all the more special. ... show more

  • High Quality, Looks Good, But..
Color: Oak
This a good looking cabinet. Looks higher quality for the price paid. But, Negatives: 1) The single upper light fixture cheapens the over all look, it's far too large, is right in your face when it's on and the 25W bulb is about 3X too bright. Looks like something you put in a storage shed instead of a nice curio cabinet. I'll be replacing it with an LED touch light. The bottom section, without a any light is a dark dungeon because of the solid wood section between upper and lower sections. I had to add an LED touch light to even tell anything was down there. 2) The mirrors are made of thin plastic and scratch by just touching them with anything. Like your finger nail. I don't believe you could clean them with anything without doing significant damage. I accidently touched one with a shelf and it made a deep scratch. Note I said (touched). 3) It's good the instructions say to have two people for assembly. Don't even think about doing it solo. Positives: 1) Very good and complete assembly instructions. A caveman could do it. But, don't think you can do it without following every step. The parts are numbered which makes putting them in the right place easy. 2) Quality and cosmetics are excellent. It looks like cabinets I've seen costing $1000 plus...maybe better. 3) It was packaged for shipping better than any item that heavy and that large I've seen in years. Though FedEx gave the box some abuse and got it wet (no surprise from them) the contents were in perfect condition. Considering it contained glass components that surprised me since FedEx is the worse delivery outfit we have here. 4) Everything fit together perfectly. Make sure you have the helper the instructions specify you need. This will serve our needs well once we get rid of the obnoxious light fixture. ... show more

  • Really good curio cabinet for the price
Color: Walnut
Solid quality, pretty easy to assemble. The instructions were okay. There is no light on the bottom part which is a negative. But, can be fixed easy enough. My wife whom I bought this for loves it!!

  • Looks good but a drill is necessary to build
Color: Cherry
The cabinet looks quite nice when put together. I purchased the cherry cabinet and the wood is good--not real thick though. The glass is tempered and quite strong. I only found one very small nick in the wood pieces. The wood pieces are held together with dowel pegs and large bolts screwed into metal sleeves. There was no problem putting the basic frame together. The difficulty was in putting on the back sides (as the cabinet sits in a corner, there are 2 back sides). The "mirror" is not a glass mirror but is thick and bendable with a nice reflective coating. I did not find the mirror easily scratched as another review said. However, there is just a narrow lip in the wood frame that the mirror lays in. The lip is barely as deep as the thickness of the mirror and the lip edge that holds the mirror is only about 1/8". So it is difficult to hold the mirror in place under the backing as the instructions indicate while attaching the actual backing. The side backing is bendable but is thicker--about 1/8"--than a lot of bookcase and desk backings that I have put together in the past. There are pre-drilled holes (16 on each side back) in the backing through which to screw the back onto all 4 sides of the wood frame (one which has tempered glass inside the front side frame section). HOWEVER, there are no starter holes in the wood frame in which to place the screws holding the backing. So you really do need a drill to make the starter holes. (I've done IKEA bookcases and other items that say you need a drill but the starter holes were already there and a drill was not needed.) Additionally with the 5-sided shape of the cabinet (which I love except for the build), you cannot have the side back securely parallel to the floor or table while installing the side backing. So you have to hold the backing in place (about 3' long) at about a 45 degree angle while making the holes in the frame around the outside edge of the 3' x roughly 1' backing sheet. I also found I could not have the mirror in place under the backing while doing this. So I had to get my holes drilled without the mirror (the screws do not go through the mirror). Then after I made all the holes, I loosely screwed on the backing in a few places and slid the mirror under the backing before putting in all the screws (16) into the backing and wood. By my third side (the bottom and top section each have 2 sides so there are 4 side backings for each cabinet) I found that it was best to do the middle screws on the long sides of the back before sliding the mirror underneath. I could then make certain the mirror was securely in the lip edging that is to hold it at the top and bottom as well as along the long side. (The mirror slid off the edging easily.) After I had the mirror in place, I could finish screwing on the back. The instructions say it should take 80 minutes to build, but it took me a LOT more time. I did not use the light that came with the cabinet but got some small round LED puck lights. I will enjoy displaying my curios in the cabinet. ... show more
