At first, I thought this waffle maker was a great purchase. I loved the compact design, the flip feature, and how easy it is to store. It heats well and makes thick waffles. However, after some use, I noticed small cracks or grooves on the plates that look like heat damage. Also, the nonstick coating only works well with very basic batter. Plain waffles are fine, but when I tried banana waffles or added chocolate, everything stuck badly and turned into a mess. Overall, it’s nice for simple recipes and looks great in the kitchen, but it’s not ideal if you like adding ingredients. That’s why I’m giving it four stars. ... show more

Fo context, one batch of waffles in the picture has fresh strawberries and the other one doesn’t. This waffle iron is amazing and so very easy to use. I’d say 3/4 cup of batter is sufficient to avoid spillage. My third grade child helped me. It’s easy to clean and can stand up or lay flat for storage. The outside of it does get warm, when in use.
