This top feeder is a great! Make sure all the plastic lids are securely placed in their grooves and you will not have drowned bees. Because the bees cannot pass through the ventilation vents, you'll be able to block robber bees without an inner cover as long as the feeder sit straight.

This result happened twice the first spring I used this feeder. Lost a good number of bees. I would not recommend it. Went back to traditional top feeder and had no drowning bees.

I wish I could give more stars but I can't. The amount of bees you lose using this as intended is a lot. They cram into the vented areas and get stuck either by other bees or they drown in the syrup. I switched things up. I use this feeder but I pop all those clear vents off and use a jar feeder inside and place a empty box around it

I love these for my hives. While I have not used them to dry feed over winter. They do great for syrup. Im able to get more food out there for them than the old way with the round feeders. They didnāt fit my hives without a gap, so I did have to use shim frames between the feeder and the hive but honestly itās worth it. They do fit perfectly under all 5 of my telescoping lids though. They hold about a gallon but my hives are angled so I get about 3qts. They are sturdy enough I donāt worry about them cracking when I have to pry them from the hive because of propolis and I can tap them upside down on the ground to get any dead bees/wax flaxes or small hive beetles off. I tend to torch my beetles and it surprisingly held up with that too. To be fair I donāt hold it in one spot itās a quick pass, but it was still a pleasant surprise. The plastic didnāt even bubble. I haven't counted anymore dead bees in it than the traditional feeders leave, and in my opinion they are easier to clean and I have way less mold/mildew issues. Which I really appreciate.
