This top feeder is a great! Make sure all the plastic lids are securely placed in their grooves and you will not have drowned bees. Because the bees cannot pass through the ventilation vents, you'll be able to block robber bees without an inner cover as long as the feeder sit straight.

This result happened twice the first spring I used this feeder. Lost a good number of bees. I would not recommend it. Went back to traditional top feeder and had no drowning bees.

Lots of bees will drown if you don’t give them structure to walk on (like lots of small sticks/pinestraw). Top feeder was excellent for keeping out small hive beetles though. Highly recommend over a frame feeder.

Haven't used it yet, I will. I think the design concept has potential! The dimensions are lacking.. seems like jumped the gun without owning a Langstroth hive. The stops, front and back, give too much movement (like the designer didnt know that there is a relief for panels to land in the top of the boxes) and nothing side to side. It would also be nice if the center cap would lock into place. In all, I think that the next revision will be amazing for the price. I had planned on modifying this purchase prior to ordering and dont find the products quality bad enough to return. EDIT: I finished my modification with a base plate and vented. Currently in a nectar dearth.. I think this product will perform amazing with the added base plate. Will try to remember to update b4 winter
