This bed rail is only 11.75" wide, which is smaller than most others; it's exactly the size I need, as I just wanted something to grab onto when getting out of bed. Aside from the width, the rest of it is fully adjustable, as you can see in the official OCBAiLi video they have on the product's webpage. Requiring no tools, you can assemble it and easily make adjustments so the rail fits on your bed exactly the way you want. It comes with an added safety strap that goes under the mattress and anchors to the other side of the bed, but I have not yet tried that and may not, as the rail's frame under my mattress, plus with the added weight of my body when I'm sitting up, makes it feel very secure. There is a Velcro-attached storage pocket you can add on either the inside or outside of the rail, and it seems like a desirable safety feature, too, to avoid having arms or legs going anywhere they shouldn't be. Though my new rail is a big help for getting up and out of bed in the middle of the night, at first I was feeling a bit claustrophobic, which is unusual for me. It dissipated, though, as I became more and more used to having the rail in place. The only thing I don't like is the awkwardness of making my bed, having to work around the rail. Blankets and comforter on that side are pushed up against the rail, because I've got it fitting tightly against the side of my mattress. From what I've read, it's important to keep bed rails snug against the mattress, again to avoid having arms and legs going where they're not supposed to be and potentially getting stuck. All in all, I'm very pleased with my new bed rail, and my claustrophobia (felt so strange) went away as I gained confidence in using it.

I'm having hip replacement surgery and do have a rail on one side of my bed that I've used for years but ordered this because I wanted one for the other side, but not as wide. At 21.5" wide this one is perfect. The rail was easy to put together, took 5 minutes to look at instructions and connect the tubes. There is a strap (“Fixing Strap”) one puts on the tube that goes under the bed. I obediently did this but cannot figure out its utility. The photo+text wasn't clear enough, but that's probably on me. There is a pocket that easily attaches to the rail with velcro pieces to store bedside things. I am not using it because it's not as convenient as my bedside table, but nice to have if one does. The rail feels high quality and the padding where one grips is very comfortable. I put the rail under my mattress and adjusted the height which is straightforward and easy. The rail is the perfect width, stays in place, and the mysterious strap lives under the mattress without function. I'll see if my handyman has a clue when he comes in a couple of weeks! I assume it is meant to attach somehow for stability? My mattress is pretty heavy and the rail is extremely stable for me as is. A great benefit of the rail is that my pillows (I sleep with a lot of them!) no longer fall off the bed on that side and stay available. Now my other rail feels overly wide and I'm considering replacing it with another one of these.

Fantastic Bed Rail SOLUTION! Not just for Seniors or the Injured, this is also very child appropriate. It’s very simple to put together, and can be used in a number of different permutations, depending on your needs. It’s nice looking, clean lined design in a very washable white enamel finish could only be improved by sewing a custom made cover for the attachable storage pocket, so it’s not black, which is a major sore thumb in many interior schemes. This so so well designed though, watch the product video and you can see how the L shaped pieces can be flipped to face one way or the other, making the grab bar height higher or lower to start with ( and then highly adjustable from there with the use of the pop up button feature which locks the collapsing arms in or out, is or down. And you don’t just have to count on this being held in place by your mattress, because it has that nice screw down clamp that will hook to your bed slats or frame. Honestly, at this price, it’s a real steal. We can’t see how it could be any better! Five strong Stars for this sturdy grab bar! We always edit if anything changes.
