This item is well built for the most part. The rail is pretty long so it is hard for the patient to get into bed and be high enough in the bed. There is a very long strap used to secure the unit to the mattress or the bed frame. The moveable buckles are plastic and simply too weak to tolerate even the modest tension on the strap needed to secure the unit

This bedrail is heavy duty and provides wide coverage to preventing people from accidentally falling out of bed. The mechanism to drop the handrail is a cable at the base that the caregiver pushes down to release the lock but the patient can't easily reach. That's different from the button type usually located under the horizontsl rail where anyone can operate. The bed rail is constructed using permanent rivet type screws which gives it a snaggy quality. It comes with a screw type height lock to hold the height adjustment which is less secure than the pin in hole type. It didn't come with assembly instructions but the assembled illustration helped us put it together. Our patient is elderly and frequently uses the hand rail on either side to help them turn over by putting their hand through the opening to get a firmer grip. We hoped we could replace the smaller hand rail with this wider coverage one, however the openings are too small increasing the likelyhood they will get their hand stuck. We thought about putting this at the foot of the bed but the legs on the bedrail and the bed leg configuration will block the hospital table on wheels from being used. This bed rail may be usable for adults who have awareness and son mobility but I wouldnt recommend it for elderly or kids who might get stuck easily. It's not smooth all around which makes it less than ideal to have in a place of rest.

What a spectacular invention! Someone staying over my place had a traumatic injury elsewhere and so I made accommodations for them in my home. With the guest room being a bit small, dragging their walker all over the place was a nuisance and not practical. Having this has been a game changer though and I wish we had it as soon as they were discharged from the hospital. It keeps them safe, and makes them feel independent because it’s helpful for getting in and out of bed. We adjusted the height so it’s perfectly aligned with the height of the bed, and we were able to adjust the width of the handles so it’s not at wide and doesn’t take up too much room. I love the safety strap that goes under the bed because you can’t see it but it adds another layer of security. Took about fifteen minutes for my husband to assemble and only three minutes to install in the room. I love that it includes a light as well! It’s rechargeable so that’s super convenient. Now they don’t have to use their phone to get up to use the bathroom when it’s dark. It also has a little bag with pockets and a zipper on the other side to keep important things close by. They really thought of everything. This has made my guest really happy and it I just so convenient and helpful. It’s very strong in its design and doesn’t budge. We love it. Great great product
