I had looked for a portable bed rail to use while traveling. I have one installed permanently at home and use it regularly. The hotel I often stay at has rather high beds that let you sink in. The rail would help getting upright. This rail seemed to really fit the bill for what I was looking for. I really liked that it would fold up, making it very portable. The upright portion is not all that tall but I wanted it mostly to provide a hand hold. That it does. With the flatter tubing to slide under the mattress it did slide in easily. It may seem to be "loose" as it is easy to move about. However, when you are laying on the bed your body weight holds it in place pretty well. They provide some screws and the long rails are pre-drilled for the screws to go through. Not sure what you would screw it to so that seems a wasted effort on their part. Putting the thing together proved to be a challenge. I don't feel the upright portion fit onto the base as it should have. I tried multiple ways and even tried fitting the upright over the base on just one side to see if one tube would fit over the other. It did not do so as I felt it should. I did contact the seller to ask if I was missing something in how I was trying to assemble the piece even though the process was logical and should have been easy. The seller was less than no help. I was able to get the parts put together with the help of a friend. It should not have been that difficult. Had this bed rail assembled as it should have and had the seller provided any insight or help I may have given this 4 or even 5 stars because it did ultimately do what it was supposed to.

My hubs had hip surgery, getting in and out of bed was a little challenge and then this game changer came along! He felt a lot safer using this, and was really glad to have it. It simply slides under the mattress, either on the box spring or bed frame and works very well.
