I'm also collecting my hair for a wig (for my future self). I was able to tie off the hair, cut and buzz the back (just above the neck) successfully. The rest of my hair covers the undercut fully. Please note, I have never used trimmers on myself before and it was surprisingly easy. I was able to switch the different size guards, cut smoothly and clean rather well. I was luck enough to get these on half off sale so the value I received was insane. Much less cost than having a pro do this cut for me. When the time is right I'm going to harvest the rest of my hair and go fully buzzed with these clippers. Super happy with this purchase!

compared to what i was using this is great. i use just the shaver, no heads and this thing is sharp. and doesn't nick me. just what i needed. the usb cord is usb c, i use usb a on it.

What You Get This is a cordless, rechargeable trimmer that comes with 4 clipper guards, a blade cover, lubricating oil, cleaning brush, carrying case, and a standard USB-C cable for charging. Charging and Power Button I like that the charging is non-proprietary - you can use any USB-C to USB-C cable to plug in and charge the unit. The unit has a nice, informative display that clearly indicates the charging level (see photo). I like that the power button is positioned in an indent and requires you to press and hold it down to turn it on. This prevents the unit from randomly turning on when traveling. Missing Blade Guards The blade guard sizes this comes with only cover the short side. You get sizes 1/2, 1, 1 1/2 and 2. I got this not only for my husband to trim his beard, but also for cutting his hair. This set does not include the #3 guard, which is needed to do the longer part of a fade. I suppose I shouldn't have expected this, since this is marketed primarily as a beard trimmer and not a hair clipper. That said, the cheap clippers I already had came with a full range of guards that covers both beard and hair clipping. It would be nice if Artimaven would offer the longer guards to purchase separately so I could fill this hole. Without them, I'm stuck using the old trimmer that I wanted to replace. Price Comparison Within Brand Artimaven sells what looks to be an almost identical version of this clipper for about $20 less than the current price ($48) of this one. The most significant difference I can discern between this model and the cheaper one is that the cheaper one uses a proprietary wall charger. The other differences look pretty minor (packaging, included toiletry bag, slightly different set of blade guards). You can compare the two right here on Amazon and decide for yourself if this model is worth a $20 premium. Performance and Value I got these to replace a cheaper clipper that's less than half the price of this one. As mentioned, those clippers came with a full set of blade guards that cover hair cutting as well as beard trimming. I can't fully get rid of that one as intended because I need the hair cutting guards that Artimaven doesn't even offer for purchase separately. The Artimaven clipper is better than my old one, but is it twice as good? It has the indented power button that makes it more travel-friendly, a non-proprietary USB charging scheme, and a useful charging indicator. Those additional features to me are not worth twice the price, especially since this one cannot fully replace the old one due to the missing blade guard. As a clipper, it clips. It is as easy to use as my old clippers. It doesn't clip exceptionally well or is quieter than my old clippers. The weight and durability also seem to be about the same. My husband says the shaving performance and comfort when using these clippers isn't noticeably different from the clippers we already have that are less than half the price and come with the full spectrum of clip guards we need for both beard trimming and hair cutting. TL;DR: Cordless trimmer with USB-C charging, good display, and travel-safe power button. Only includes guards 1/2-2, missing #3+ for hair cutting. Artimaven sells nearly identical model for $20 less with proprietary charger. Performance not significantly better than half-price alternatives with complete guard sets. Can't fully replace cheaper clippers due to incomplete guard set. Rating: 3/5 - Good features but incomplete guard set and price not justified compared to alternatives
