I contemplated giving this 3 stars, but the quality of the finished product is so good I can't justify it, but that is how bad the manual is. If this were a simple build, having 3 or more ambiguous instructions/pictorials would be forgivable. After all, it doesn't take much effort to bang your head through a wall of cardboard. But this is a complex build that, unless you work for a sporting goods store and assemble these in the back or some other experience, this is likely the first basketball hoop you have assembled. It was my first certainly, and when there are more than ten categories of packaged and labeled hardware, let alone the pieces, that is a difficult enough assembly, so the directions need to be perfect, and these instructions were flawed. For clarity, there are several small parts in certain hardware packets that are glossed over like they don't exist in both the verbal and the pictorial instructions, and placement, as well where hardware should go on parts, is quite unclear. I have assembled enough products on good and bad instructions that I have developed some intuition about it as anyone would, but this would be very challenging for a highly inexperienced person attempting to assemble it, and the instructions need to be so clear a child could dictate the assembly to you. Now, in terms of use, it is great. This behaves exactly as a basketball hoop should, but it is easily adjustable. As an added bonus, this hoop can behave as a vertical jump trainer as well, since there are markings denoting height milestones on the back adjuster part. The base is fillable with water, and that should handle a very young person using this hoop, but I recommend going the extra mile and filling the sandbag included and putting it on the base for added safety, maybe even putting spare heavy junk on top of the sandbag if that isn't enough. If the manual was updated to be detailed and meticulous as this product deserves, there is no question that this would be a five star product, it is made of quality thick gauge steel tubing on the main pole segments, the hardware is solid and up to the challenge of stabilizing this build, it is a high quality hoop.

This is a pretty nice basketball hoop for the price. It would make a great starter hoop to see how serious your kiddos are about playing basketball. Great for showing younger kids how to play and build confidence, and for also fun and silly games like HORSE. Took a bit over an hour for my husband and me to get set up. Would have definitely been longer and more challenging for one person. Quality is about as expected for this price point. It works well for us as a fun, family centered outdoor activity!

This is great for children because it is adjustable and easy to move around. I will say that the base definitely needs to be bigger because it is top heavy when you raise it all the way up and ours tends to tip forward pretty easily when raised all the way up. A bigger base would allow for more weight to be added to help stabilize it. Also, the backboard could be a little larger but it's really not bad since it is for children. There is a spring that is supposed to assist with raising and lowering the goal, however, it keeps popping off and we have not figured out how to keep it on there so that's a little frustrating as well. Besides it being top-heavy in the base being a little small, it is actually a pretty nice basketball goal for children who just want to play every now and then in the driveway. Our kids get a ton of use out of it and where the base is it has a little dip where you can sit the ball so that was helpful.

I got this hoop through the Vine Program. My daughter had been asking and asking for a hoop, and I’m so glad we got it. I timed the set up and it took around 90 mins from opening the box to shooting the first basket. I was able to do the first half solo, but when it came time to assemble the backboard, it really helped having a second person. I have strong confidence that the base will hold the hoop for my young kids. If this was a hoop for a group of aggressive highschool aged kids or adults, I wouldn’t be as confident. I like that it has a water base so I can drain it in the winter. I do wish the included hardware was painted black, instead of left stainless. The backboard graphics are a full sized sticker, so you can see small bubbles behind the plastic. Not a huge deal, but again more on the value in. Lastly, some of the welds are rusting after a few days in the rain. It’s small, but it gives me some concerns about the longevity. Again - I’m really happy with it and for the price point and quality I really think it strikes ‘value’ very well.
