  • Solid, Basic Tub ... Still Wonderful After 5 Years
Style: Contemporary Color: White
I bought this tub after looking at tons of expensive, impractical soaking tubs. All of those other tubs looked really good, but when it came down to it I worried about one thing: water splashing out of the tub. With this much simpler, classic tub I could be sure that my tub surround would capture all of the water. It was easy to install myself and, having now used it for several months, this tub is great. (I should say that I bought the tub for a complete bathroom remodel.) The tub is deep and, most of all, keeps the water in the tub! That is just too awesome. My only complaint about this tub is the etched bottom. It has some kind of "safety texture" on the bottom that tends to get a bit dirty. Does it add traction? I do not know. Cleaning the bottom every month or so does the trick, so it's really no big deal. Note that tubs are all right hand and left hand, which designates where the drain is. This Left hand tub has the drain on the left side when you're standing on the long side of the tub that faces the room. UPDATE: After several years of use by our family, there has not been a single day when this tub hasn't been wonderful. No nicks or cracks or anything like that. When we clean it up, it's just like new. Note that in my video, which I'm posting with this update, that I mention the traction sections on the base of the tub. These traction sections are subtle and nice, but they do collect dirt just a bit during use. They easily clean up with BonAmi. ... show more

  • Very Happy With This Tub for our One Bathroom House
Style: Contemporary Color: White
I searched and struggled with deciding on a bathtub for our 1948 home remodel. I previously had a cast iron tub and wanted the look and cleanable surface of porcelain. I also like to take soak baths so was looking for a deep tub. I have been really pleased with this tub. It is deep enough for a great soak and comfortable. I find the americast surface feels like the cast iron tub I had, but isn't as cold when you fill it (takes less time for side of tub to warm up) and holds heat well. The finish is great. I don't like the little non slip marks on the bottom, but all new tubs are required to have these. I read another review where poster said he had used fine sandpaper to get them off. I'm afraid to try that. Anyway, it is a fabulous tub. I highly recommend it, I did order the American Standard Deep Soak stopper and overflow drain that is made for it. Yes it's plastic, sigh...most plumbing stuff has plastic. In our prior new build I bought a very expensive all metal tub faucet fixture and it failed after 2 years and couldn't be fixed....So I figured I would by the drain American Standard makes for this tub. It works great and looks fab. ... show more

  • THANK YOU, AMAZON!
Style: Contemporary Color: White
We are updating two *really* ugly bathrooms, and needed new tubs for both. We like the durability of porcelain over cast iron, but didn't want the weight. After doing much research, it seemed an American Standard Americast tub would be ideal. The problem was getting one within our time frame. Our plumber said that due to the years of rotten economy in our state and the abrupt halt of new home construction, his distributors were only stocking the least-expensive tubs because that's what was selling. Getting one of these would take at least 3 weeks, even though I gave him 4 different models as possibilities. We didn't have that much time due to tight scheduling with our drywall installer, so I started searching the internet for a source. Turned out our first choice was available on Amazon at a good price AND with a delivery date that fit our schedule! (Who knew?) The tubs arrived a day before expected, and we love them. Our plumber was very impressed with the quality and finish, they installed without a problem and look beautiful. The finish is incredible--slick and flawless. I'm sure these will be no trouble to keep clean, and this style has the simple, uncluttered lines we like to have in our home. A+ to Amazon on this product and transaction. I'm not sure what we'd have done if I hadn't found the tubs here. We probably would have had to go with something neither of us really liked, but, fortunately, Amazon's wide product range and great service solved the problem. ... show more

  • Nice tub with good size
Style: Contemporary Color: White
Nice tub with good size. seems to be well constructed and both sturdy and light at the same time. It was easier to install since it was on the lighter side, I could actually do it myself. Install is simple, you hang a stringer 2x4 up and set it in. After install is seemed very sturdy, not cast iron but not flimsy either. I didn't seem hard to clean or easily scratched but to be honest it was in the guest bath so it didn't get used much and then I sold the house. I would say I was happy with the purchase for ease of installation, construction, and looks. ... show more

  • Extremely fast shipping- quality tub
Style: Contemporary Color: White
In renovating our 50 year old bathroom, we wanted to replace an American Standard cast iron tub. We also wanted a deeper soaking tub, and this fit the existing alcove space. Our contractor told us to go to Lowes or Home Depot to order what we wanted, but the delivery was going to be at least 3 weeks, which would have delayed the renovation. I never really considered buying something like a bathtub from Amazon, but I did a search, and I was surprised that the tub was available and "in stock with Amazon" (I always feel better if Amazon stocks something large like this, if there is a problem). After I carefully checked the model and drain position, I ordered it on a Thursday morning at 8 AM. Amazon said it would ship withing 1 to 2 days and even stated that expected shipping would be Monday. However, I received an email that the tub was shipped the same day as the order on Thursday. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call at 7:30 THE NEXT MORNING that the trucking shipper (located in a town about 1 hour away from mine) had it and wanted to deliver it the same day (Friday). So I got the tub the next day with no shipping cost (Amazon Prime). As far as the tub, it appears to be high quality porcelain over a steel and epoxy laminate material, thicker than the original cast iron but much lighter. American Standard says the material is stronger than cast iron, and the installers like the lighter weight. We also ordered the deeper drain overflow - combined with this tub's deeper basin, you do have a true soaker tub in a five foot alcove area. The side of the tub that your back would rest is sloped so you can sink down to your neck easily. We haven't taken a bath yet, and I am curious about the non-slip bottom. There are numerous "patches" where the bottom has a finish that I would describe as feeling like sandpaper, when dry. I am sure that it would be very "non-slip", but I wonder what it would feel like on your bare posterior when sliding over it. I suspect that it will be OK when filled with water, and I definitely would want the protection from slips when showering. Overall, very pleased with the purchase. ... show more

  • Totally Disgusted with American Standards Lack of quality control. Totally Disgusted with American Standards Lack of quality control.
Style: Contemporary Color: White
My new American Standard Metal tub arrived and we hauled it up to the second floor. We left it in the box to make sure it didn't get damaged moving it to the second floor. We open the box and within seconds we see a significant chip in the finish. Now we can haul the darn think back down arrange for a painful return, reorder and moving a second tub to the second floor. No excuse on something like this leaving a factory. Chip is just on top of the spec sheet in the photo. ... show more

  • I love this tub.
Style: Contemporary Color: White
It's much deeper and a little bit wider than the original acrylic tub that was originally in the house. I did turn the overflow drain upside down to get an extra inch of soaking depth. The lightweight cast iron was awesome to get upstairs, easy for the plumber to install, and keeps the water hot longer. Never thought I'd order a bathtub from Amazon, but glad I did. Funny story... I first bought an acrylic tub from box store and they accidentally shipped to the other coast and it would take weeks to get me another one. So glad that happened. We ended up with a much better product for less money. It arrived in just days and didn't have to pay for shipping! Box store was going to charge $75 for delivery. ... show more
