  • Cheap and good, but signs of low quality control are obvious.
Style: 3-9x32 Color: Black
I seem to be one of the reviewers who have been lucky with a working product, but there are signs of low quality control everywhere that make it clear to me that it is probably not unlikely to get a dud. First the pros: It is very easy to adjust windage/elevation, zoom, and focus. It comes with 3/8 rail scope rings and even has them preinstalled for you. The bikini style scope cap is nice- it is transparent so you can have it on the scope and still see through it, with a yellow filter for blue light protection. The picture is very clear up until 8x zoom, and the crosshairs are not blurry at any zoom. Now the cons: The first thing I noticed when I took the scope out of the packaging was that the little Barska logo on the adjustment cap had fallen off! This seems pretty ridiculous to me. I just glued it back on with a dab of superglue but this did not give me high initial hopes about the quality. The next thing I noticed once I put it on the gun was that it was canted in the scope rings! It was angled to the right by about 5 degrees. If you are going to install this part for the customer at least do it correctly. An easy fix, but again, one that should not happen with proper QC. As I adjusted the scope's cant I also noticed that the screws for the scope rings are not hex keys like on all other scopes I have owned before but a combination phillips head/flat head type screw. These are not good screws at all because they can be rounded out much easier than a hex while trying to tighten them down, which I noticed signs of already happening with mine. I slipped while tightening one of the screws and it got deformed noticably. It appears the screws are relatively soft metal and may need replaced (preferably with hexes) if you take this scope out of it's rings more than once or twice. The lack of hex key screws continues once you get to tightening down the optic securely. The screws for the rail attachment pieces do not have hex slots in them! They have a very wide flathead slot and a smooth round inside area that definitely could have had a hex slot in it instead of just being empty space. I found actually getting the scope focused was rather annoying. There is a large amount of threads to adjust the focus on but almost everything past the first 1.5 threads is superfluous and seemed to exist solely to send me on a wild goose chase. And no matter how much I tried to focus it I could not get the x8 or x9 zooms to be clear. They are blurry while x7 and below are very crisp. Overall, this scope is definitely great for the money but the quality control issues are obvious even on a working example. I can definitely see how other reviewers have had issues. I will be updating my review after zeroing it and testing how well it holds that zero. For now, a tentative 4 out of 5 assuming it works fine down the line. UPDATE: Worked great on my 10/22. Got it zeroed quickly and was very nice to shoot with and kept its zero fine after 500 rounds. Keeping the 4/5 due to the issues listed earlier in the review. I will be ordering a second one to put on my Marlin 60 as well and see how that does. ... show more

Great addition to my son's 177 pellet gun. Takes a while to calibrate with lots of clicks needed for small adjustments

  • Great value for those shopping on a budget like I was
Style: 3-9x32 Color: Black
Great value for those shopping on a budget like I was. Easy to mount, is clear and pretty darn accurate. If you are looking for quality of a $300 or more scope, don't look here, Great value for those shopping on a budget like I was. If it's no scope or this one, buy it !

  • Lots of eye relief
Style: 4x15 Color: Black
This is a small, low power scope for day use. The aperture is not going to gather much extra light, so you won't be happy with it in low light situations. It so happens that it also has remarkably long eye relief so it is good for eyeglass wearers, but that also makes it hard (in my experience) to get your eye lined up (optically) so that you are looking through the scope and seeing the optimum target image. This is not a big deal if you are shooting at something that isn't going to move, like a paper target or a soda can. In that case you can take your time and get everything lined up nicely to get that good target image you want. But if you need to be quick about acquiring your target this facet is very annoying. Because the eye relief is great and the scope image is not particularly bright, if there is stray light around, such as the sun shining from your side... it can infiltrate in between your eye and the eye-lens of the scope. This seriously diminishes your ability to see the target because the stray light washes out the image from the scope. Again at a target range this is a minor annoyance and can be dealt with by donning a cap with a visor or shading the stray light by some other means, but in the field this is a problem. Taking these limitations into account this is still a nice quality item for the price, and if you want or need a low power scope with lots of eye relief for target shooting this scope will do you well. EDIT: After some time and use with this scope I find I cannot get the accuracy I'd like. I know my QB-78 repeater rifle is capable of better because it was tested before shipping by Steven Archer of Archer Air Guns.... and I know that I am capable of better because I consistently get better results with my Crosman 2100 fitted with a Crosman 410 scope. I attribute my inconsistent results to the difficulty I have in getting my head/cheek/eye all lined up comfortably and consistently with this scope. I have fiddled with it extensively adjusting the mounting etc. and no luck yet. It is as if each time I try to sight a target it takes more than a little effort to get a clear view through the scope. This may be a different situation on different guns with different stocks or different users, but it isn't working for me on my QB78. Since I have had very good results with the Crosman 410 and it is very inexpensive, I will probably swap for one of those. ... show more

  • Henry H001
Style: 4x20 Color: Black
I ordered the Barska 4X20 scope after reading many mixed reviews. Most of the negative reviews were from people that do not have an understanding of scopes, had high expectations for a component that would not work with their application, kids looking for a airgun scope with features beyond this scopes capabilities and reviews based on shipping and or issues that had nothing to do with the product. This all aluminum scope came perfectly sealed in a box with plenty of cushion to handle any shipping mishaps. The ONLY plastic parts are the scope covers and I’m glad they were included. The dovetail fixed rings were a tad tight and “Snapped” into place allowing me to position the scope on my Henry .22 prior to tightening the Phillips screws. I was happy with the results of the adjustable eye relief and made the install simple with a solid mount. The fixed zoom was true as advertised and to my surprise, the adjustments I needed to make were very minimal. This was exactly what I was looking for when it came to scale matching up to my smaller classic .22 rifle. One inch grouping at 50 yards with no parallax issues. The scope is very clear, easy to find the target and looks great on a smaller .22 rifle. I do wish I could find a similar US made scope however; this works perfectly until it becomes available from a US manufacturer. ... show more
