This tank cooler does perform its base function. I have had this for over a week and it keeps the water around 64F in a 40 gal tank without issue. The temperature control is ok, but you need to have a second thermometer because the internal one is influenced by the cooler. I'm set at 64 with a 3 degree span. This gets me a 64.1-65.2 tank temperature. This is fine, but an external probe would make this way more precise and easier to find the optimal settings (it took a couple days for each test to settle in and was not intuitive). On the accessories side, the pump is loud with a grinding sound; the tubing has a strong chemical smell that I didn't love using, but I did since I needed to get it installed. You'll probably need to replace at least the pump. unless noise (and concerns about voltage leak) are not a concern The unit itself is LOUD. The fans are shrill with weird harmonic whines. I will eventually replace, but there has to be a better 120V fan that won't sound like I have a bitcoin miner in my living room. I don't know if other options are better, but if this one fails I'll but a different brand.

I bought this for use in a shower cooler setup with a cold water storage tank and a heat exchanger. This works well, apart from the enclosed pump being a little cheap. The pump has a pressure fitting on the pump side of the adapter from the pump to the tubing, and the vibration of the pump made the fitting come undone several times in my setup. I swapped the pump for a better one with a screw fitting. The cooler part of this device seems to work well enough. It cools faster now with the higher flow pump, so I recommend replacing the pump. Even with the extra pump cost I think this is a good value.

Unit arrived broken. I was hoping to get a partial refund but was asked to only return not exchange even. I was able to get the unit mostly back into one piece and online operating okay

I got this chiller for my 60 gallon axolotl tank and it actually does a really great job. It easily gets its down to 60 degrees and doesn’t seem to be working overly hard. It does put off a lot of heat around it so you want it in an open space. The tubing is a less standard size so I had to get adaptors to hook it up to my canister filter. It’s a little noisy but not obnoxiously so. We can watch tv in the same room with no issues. My only complaint is that the outside is really cheaply made. The brand label was actually stuck on the outside of the plastic film cover so it came off when I removed that and the front has fallen off and fallen apart after only a couple weeks of use. So it’s clearly just a no name product that different brands resell with their name on it. Because of that I feel like it’s probably overpriced quite a bit but it works well so I’m happy and my axolotls are happy.
