I somhow misread the sales webpage and thought this slider would fit both the 4.5 quart Artisan and the 5 quart Artisan mixer. "4.5-5" is what made me think that. well, I happen to have both because my wife used to work for a restaurant. Anyway, it only fits the 4.5 Artisan well as intended, it doesn't fit the 5 quart Artisan Kitchenaid. The base on the 5 quart is too wide. So, I'm a little disappointed, I thought I could use one slider for both. Anyway, this is a helpful thing if you keep your kitchenAid on the counter, it allows you to move it around without picking it up. As you know, these mixers weigh a lot. The only thing you need to be sure to do is make sure that where you're moving the mixer, the counter or surface is clean. I had some dried rice on the counter, and the slider wouldn't move past it. Other than that, they slide pretty well for something so heavy. The bamboo itself is rather light, so not sure about long term durability, but it looks good and slides good so far.

My wife has been using a 4.5 qt, kitchen Aid mixer since we got married over 40 years ago. They are excellent and strong and can handle anything she's thrown at it. But the power and strength results in a heavy mixer that's hard to move. We don't have a dedicated cabinet in the kitchen for the mixer, so we have to pick it up and place it on the counter whenever we want to use it - no way around this heavy lift for us. And up until recently once we had it on the counter, it was very difficult to move due to the rubber feet on the bottom of the stand. This new sliding tray is a simple, economical accessory that significantly reduces the amount of effort needed to move the mixer once it is on the counter. And the good news is that so far it doesn't seem to have affected the operation of the mixer. This accessory is a thin, tray of bamboo that has been cut to mimic the shape of the mixer bottom plate. I would say it is about 1/4" larger all around. This tray has a large, recessed area in the center that results in a narrow ledge around the entire tray. The ledge supports the edge of the mixer base allowing the rubber feet to extend down and sit on the floor of the recessed area - this design is easy to position and provides tremendous grip and stability for the mixer. On the bottom of the bamboo tray there are 4, nylon feet that sit on the counter. These feet support the tray + mixer, like the standard mixer base, you don't even notice the change. Except when you go to move the mixer and you find out its slides on the counter very easily. You can push it sideways or spin it around with minimal effort. It's still heavy with enough weight to keep it in place during use without wobbling, shaking or creeping. It's just not stuck in place. I can't say we have tried every mixing accessory and feature using the tray. We've made batches of cookies, mixed cake batters and frostings, mashed potatoes, whipped cream and any number of typical mixer applications. But mixing bread dough is power intensive application we haven't tried, simply because we don't make bread very often. So, if this is a big use for you in your kitchen, I would give the tray a test once you get the tray. The sliding tray is an eye opener for the mixer making it much easier to move. For us It functions the same, but now we can just slide it out of the way when it's not needed. And being able to move and turn the mixer around makes cleaning much easier. This is a great accessory, that is strong, simple to use, takes up little storage space and is easy to clean. The price we think is very reasonable. We would definitely recommend this accessory.

My kitchen has limited counterspace. I'm constantly having to move my mixer back and forth. This bamboo sliding mat is just what I needed! As silly as it may sound . . . a thin, grooved and shaped bamboo board with feet was the answer to all my problemsTh. It appears so much cleaner than my previous solution, a retired kitchen towel. I'll admit I was skeptical about how stably the plastic sliders would hold while mixing a batch of pizza dough. It passed the test, no animals were killed by falling mixers.

This Bamboo Sliding Mat for KitchenAid Mixer works great under my KitchenAid mixer. I usually do not like the striated look of bamboo. This has some wider bands of color differentiation, making it look more like wood. It will be covered, but still, the edges will show. I am happy with it and hop some tiny casters will make it slide better. The rubber feet don’t really slide much better than it did without the bamboo pad. But that might be due to the counter. Update - gave the counter a super clean and it worked great!

I knew I would use my Kitchenaid mixer more often if it was easy to access. This mat holds the mixer and its easy to slide the mixer from its storage spot to where you want to use it. I wish I had found this product earlier. It's a game changer.

The description includes the Artisan 5 qt size, and that is exactly what I have. Unfortunately, it does not fit. Instead of the base sitting inside the lip, it sits awkwardly and unevenly on the lip. Otherwise, nice finish, seems well made, and slides easily on our marble countertop. The actual measurements are about 13.25” x 8.25” inclusive of the outer lip. Hopefully it fits the 4.5 qt size, but definitely not for our 5 qt, so faulty description.

The media could not be loaded. So my mixer slides great but does not fit in the groove that was created on the bamboo slider. Not sure what I am doing wrong or if this is exactly how it should sit, just seems strange to even have that groove like that. 3 stars due to that.
