I have had a bee hive house for 5 years that is larger than this one. Because all of the tubes were filled, I bought this bee hive house to hang next to the one I have. The Mason bees moved into the new house right away. I hope they all will survive and come out next year around the 2nd week of April. If you're in to gardening then this is a must have. Each spring, I look forward to seeing my Mason bees busy at work. I did my homework on these and wound up ordering a variety. I needed to relocate my carpenter bees. They're great pollinators, but they were boring into my greenhouse frame and dive bombing my head while I worked. I ordered six different ones, all under $20, because I just wasn't sure what would work best. This one is IT! It was the heaviest, sturdiest one of the lot. The others came with cheap frames that are going to fall apart in a single season. (And will need paint to survive the first rain.) In addition, this one had the largest bores in it. I don't think anything more than a honey bee, if that, will fit into the other ones that came. For $15, you cannot beat this quality, realistic design and price! ... show more

It's cheap! Really cheap! The screws holding the outer wrap are rusty, although I received it just today. The bamboo pieces are not sized very well, as the Mason bees can't fit in some of them, and others are way too big. Several bamboo pieces fell out, and other are rattling around, as they aren't glued in. You can see in the pic that some of the pieces are 100% unusable, as they are reversed, so there is no tube for the bees to enter. Quite a number of the bamboo pieces are glued in at weird angles, which won't matter to the Mason bees, but serves to point out how poorly it's made. I've purchased hives like this in the past, and they were well made, leading me to believe that I got something from a very disreputable company. Wanted to like it but the bamboo is glued to the back of house so you can’t pull them off. Probably good , in my opinion, as a leaf cutter bee house but wouldn’t use it for mason bees.
