Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Fantastic bed cover. I bought this through amazon because it would be to me faster than through other various bed cover and truck accessory websites. It also ended up being cheaper through amazon. I received it in 48 hours and installed it in about an hour. I recommend watching the instructional video if this is your first install. It went in easily and looks very clean, to include the drain plugs that you don’t even see. It seals very well. Not water tight but there is so little water that may work it’s way in that it slowly will make its way out of the bed through the normal indentions in the bed. My only initial concern was that the cover I received had some spots on the edge seal(s) that were a little damaged. Well I contacted Bak and was immediately replied to. After providing the requested information and photos they manufactured and sent me an entire new cover right then and there. The only request was for me to destroy the damaged one and send a photo. This makes sense because I’m sure I could have easily sold even the one with the bad seals for several hundred. But I took the opportunity to see how it stood up to a ten pound sledgehammer. It did exceptionally well. This thing is so durable that the hinges took at least 5 direct hits with the sledge and were barely warped. Obviously I was able to go through the panel but only with a strong hit. Bottom line is this is a tough, mostly weatherproof, clean looking product. The only thing better than Bak’s product is their customer service. (And I was not paid at all for this review nor was I asked to write it) ... show more

So, starting with the instructions, they were easy to understand and they made installation a breeze. Illustrations were clear and there was no question what you were looking at. Actual Installation took about a half hour and I did not have to do any trimming to work with my GMC branded drop in bed liner. Functionally, the BAKFlip cover is amazing. When opened all the way you have access to the entire truck bed. And it looks great on the truck. It is also much more secure than cheaper soft top tri-folds. The only thing I would take away a half a star is in the lack of a piece of weather stripping between the back of the cover and the tailgate. It has rubber weather stripping on it which would be perfect if the back of the cover rested on top of the tailgate, but the design is such that the back cover comes right up to the end of the rails which must end before the gate so the gate can close. A piece of weather stripping adhered to the gate will probably fix this relatively easily. ... show more

Really enjoying my x4s I installed on my 2015 GMC Sierra w/ 6.5' bed. High-quality engineered tonneau. Solid structure, easy-install (only took me about 45 minutes). It's also easy to roll/unroll with one-hand operation. Overall definitely a premium rollup tonneau cover that I'm glad I purchased. My only hold-back is how far the slam latches protrude horizontally into the path of the bed. They are slightly (and I stress, slightly) adjustable but it wasn't enough. I have an AMP Research HD Max bed extender which I had already installed on my truck years prior. I ended up having to get spacers from amp to install and slightly shorten the extenders width so it clears the slam latches. AMP spacers part no. 74609-01A should have 8 spacer plates included. I had to use the max of 4 on each side. ... show more

I bought this bed cover because I live in the city with many people walking by my truck daily. I also like to keep a lot of "stuff" in the bed of my truck so I knew I needed something secure. This truck cover accomplishes all of my goals. -quality material that seems like it will hold up well in the elements and from use and abuse -sturdy design -seems like it would be very difficult to 'break in'. Can't cut anything open with a knife or anything -lays flat so doesn't protrude over the rails or aynthing. -Aesthetically pleasing -folds up easy - functionality is good -doesn't "get in the way" - I've hauled several loads with the cover fully opened with no issue -good customer service. I did break one of the clips when installing it. BAK sent me a replacement immediately, no questions asked (they just sent the clip - easy to swap out) ... show more

The latching mechanism broke for this cover. (Very fast after the install as it is fairly flimsy/cheap plastic). Called customer support for a replacement (warranty) and they said they don't even send this part...instead you have to purchase a new $80 bar kit which requires riveting into the bed cover. Not to mention that I was passed around 10 times before someone could even tell me this...it's a bit ridiculous. When I looked at the bar latch kit...it had horrible reviews....mainly due to customers simply never receiving theirs from shipment. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO TO THEIR WEBSITE TO LOOK AT REVIEWS. The bed cover is nice enough but I would never buy from them again on customer support alone. ... show more

Very happy with this product. The main reason for purchase was to keep my equipment, luggage, etc sheltered from the elements. Although there are some tiny spots near the tail gate where a very small amount of moisture/rain seeps in, overall it does a good job otherwise. Super easy installation and removal. The last time I removed the cover so I could load my dirt bike, the corner caps near the tailgate fell or broke off. I contacted Bak Industries and they sent me replacements at no cost.
