Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Finally, the MX4 can hold up to 400lbs of evenly distributed weight and is backed by a 5-year, hassle-free warranty. BAKFlip MX4 is proudly made in the USA with globally sourced materials with a US-based support team. .

Great tonneau cover! Was expensive but worth the money. Fit and finish were great. Sealed the bed, no leaks.

  • 3rd truck, 3rd BakFlip
Style: BAKFlip G2 Size: 5' 7" Bed
This is the 3rd BakFlip I've purchased for one of my trucks, my F-150 was the first to get outfitted with a BakFlip and when the time came to outfit my Ram 2500 it was a no brainer. This past week I traded the F150 for a new 2020 RAM 1500 and again the 1st item purchased was a BakFlip! The install is quite easy, it takes about 30 minutes doing it solo, having someone else onhand only makes mounting the bed rails easier but doesn't make anything faster. Minimal tools required, 1 socket wrench to tighten all 6 bolts and screwdriver for the latches, that's really all you need other than a steady hand to secure the rails to the bed making sure they are totally flat and forward, again this is where another set of hands can help. If you don't read instructions, make sure you attach the strap snaps to the tonneau before you mount the tonneau to your truck bed, it's hard to put the thing together once mounted, also it's best to run the drain lines into the bed before you mount the tonneau and just after you attach the rails, just makes it easier. The tonneau can be installed by 1 person when the time comes, the hardest part is just getting it from the ground and onto the rails, don't open it beyond where it shipped and you'll be able to push it into position. The bolts that secure the tonneau to the rails are best installed top down so you can wrangle the cover front to back and left to right a little to get it into position. When the time comes to secure the bolts to the rail, 2 approaches work, one is to have someone outside pushing down a little while you lay in the truck bed looking up to set the washer and lock washer onto the bolt or you can do it solo, again not hard just easier to have someone there. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERTIGHTEN!!! If you overtighten you can easily make the fiberglass cave in and you'll leave a dent that you will regret. Also, spend some time in the bed adjusting the front back so that the cover lines up flush with the truck bed on the INSIDE and clean the surface before you install the 3M foam so that it stays in place. I opted to get a better foam tape from Amazon when I did my 2nd truck and 3rd truck because I knew that a rubber gasket offered a better seal but that's not necessary for most. Finally, once you close the entire tonneau, open it pulling the cord on one side, it should release both sides, if not you may need to adjust the latches (simple screw and alignment) to they are not so far under the rail that you can't open them from only 1 side. Again this is from experience and on my 1500 I had to do this because I found that I could not open the cover that way. A simple 1-minute adjustment and I still have a solid latch but I can open it with 1 hand. These are great covers, we were in a hail storm in South Dakota last year and my 2500 was exposed, oddly enough the only damage was on the tonneau, the truck took 3 small hits which to me are beauty marks, the tonneau got dimpled quite a bit but didn't' need replacing. This was not monster-sized hail, only pellets but none the less, the BakFlip protected all our camping gear. One question I've been asked a number of times does it leak, the simple answer is a little, it's not a 100% perfect seal, I can take it to the car wash and there will be a little water inside but not a puddle. It does a surprisingly great job of keeping water out so if you're ok with a little and I stress a very small amount, you'll be fine with this cover. ... show more

  • 2025 Ram RHO x4s Revolver
Style: Revolver X4s Size: 5' 7" Bed
The engineering on this thing is amazing. Probably the best tonneau cover I ever had. This is my 3rd cover from Bak, and have never been dissatisfied with quality. Installation is super easy and it looks like it is going to be pretty watertight (no light leaks from inside). The power tailgate functions normally with the cover too. ... show more

  • Awesome cover!
Style: BAKFlip MX4 Size: 5' 7" Bed
Extremely fast shipping, and it arrived a day earlier than it was previously reported. The cover came with a QR code, and an alternative website link for video instructions, which are easy to follow. It took less than an hour to assemble. Clearly a very durable cover, which I had on my previous 2017 Ram 1500 before trading it in, which is why chose the same cover again, as the old cover was still in great condition. I noted that some modifications were made to the newer cover, which I view as a huge win, such as a gutter system on the side rails which ensures the bed compartment won't be compromised with water. Also, better seals were observed on the new cover. Extremely easy to open, and I paid less for this cover than I did in 2017 for my old cover. Finally, the cover fit like a glove on my 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew cab, worth every penny! ... show more

  • A little expensive but good quality
Style: BAKFlip MX4 Size: 5' 7" Bed
Have had this bed cover for a year or so. It’s a solid cover and I have peace of mind that it won’t get broken into while I’m traveling (nothing is 100% secure). It’s not completely waterproof either. I have it on my 2019 Ram and water gets in at the corners near the cab and a little at the tailgate area but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Overall I am very happy with it. ... show more

  • Major QC issues, won't seal on a 2021 Ram 1500, scratches and dents easily, pull cords are awkward.
Style: BAKFlip MX4 Size: 5' 7" Bed
First of all, I want to say that the problems that I had with the two covers sent to me had nothing to do with the seller or shipping. These covers looked good from a distance and are not hard to install, that's the only positives. Both the original cover and the replacement that I received were scratched. Both boxes contained tiny metal shards. These were likely the cause of the deep. noticeable scratches. See the pictures. Both covers also leaked, not at the fold, but at the interface of the frame and the aluminum sheeting. These are $950 covers. I expected better. OK, now let's assume that there were no scratches or leaks. For a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500, the cover does not extend far enough past the interface between the gate and the bed. This allows water to go freely into the bed and soak everything that is in the last 12-inches or so from the gate (see the pic). The new Dodge Ram owners who gave the cover a good review either sealed the gate with another product or they don't care about their stuff getting soaked. I did finally get a refund, but not after lifting covers on and off of my truck, destroying them and packaging, shipping one of the destroyed covers back to them and disposing of the other one. The purpose for going with the Backflip was to save my bad back by never having to remove the cover. I returned to the Solid Fold cover the I’ve been using for years (yes, I realize these are made by the same company). Lastly, the MX4 truck bed cover is rated for up to 400 lbs. of evenly distributed weight. Before I destroyed one of the covers, I wanted to see if it could hold my 250 lb. body. It could not, as it buckled under my weight. If you do get one of these that is not scratched, do not climb on it, sit on it or set anything on it because it will likely buckle, scratch or dent. These are apparently just for looks (from a distance). ... show more
