I did a lot of research before settling on this cover. As with most things, you see people who had problems and people who have had none. Here are my overall observations. * I did get a little water infiltration after a hard rain, but haven't made any adjustments since I installed it, so the leak could be my fault. * Installation is pretty easy. I did it myself in a Ram 1500 crew cab with the 5'7" bed--no RamBox. It maybe took 30 minutes, some of which was spent watching a YouTube installation video. * It looks great. * I love that you can open and close the tailgate with the cover closed. * I've had it in the folded position, going 70mph on the interstate and it held up fine. Only a small bit pokes out from behind the cab of the truck to catch the wind. I will note, though, that had I not had the digital rear view mirror (there's a camera in my third brake light that projects to my mirror) I would not have been able to see through the back window with the cover folded upright. * The cover gets very hot in direct sunlight. I especially found this out during installation. Might want to park in the shade while installing. I can't speak to customer service, etc..., but will try to keep this review updated since this is a high-ticket item and people like me want to get all the information they can before committing. I wasn't sure how to rate the value for the money, but since few of these covers are cheap, it felt like I am getting a well-made product at a cost comparable to other brands. Follow up after several months of use. I've had it parked in and driven during some hard rains and had very minimal to no water infiltration. I will note that when it's parked outside at our house, it is on a slight incline, such that the tailgate is lower than the cab, so that could conceivably make it less likely for water to get into the bed area? The cover continues to perform very well.

Overall, a nice product and I would buy again. As for the question / rating about water resistance - I can't speak to that as of yet, since it is a new install and hasn't been water tested. As for the rest - the installation is fairly simple and the cover is strong and robust. Some things to watch: * Make sure to use the shims if the rails sit at a slight angle, due to some curvature of the bed rails - if they sit at a slight angle, you may have issues with the seal properly contacting the tailgate. There is a supplemental sheet that includes shims and tells you how to use them. Your truck may or may not need them. * They say to install the bulkhead seal as one of the first steps. The install instructions don't clearly specify if the seal should be at the front, rear, or centered on the bulkhead (although the video does say to place it on the edge closes to the rear). I would wait and do this at a later step - for my truck, the bulkhead seal needed to be just a little bit away from the rear edge - meaning I had to remove it and reinstall it (this impacts the adhesive quality!). Its best to fit the cover first, then determine the exact location of the seal. Once the cover is properly fitted and in place, it will be very obvious where the seal needs to be - then you can easily lift off the cover (before securing it) and add the seal. Not having the seal does impact the general install and fitment of the cover - you just need to add the seal before bolting the cover down at the front. * Keep in mind - you don't need the bulkhead seal if you have a drop in bed liner that covers the bulkhead. If the bulkhead surface is painted metal - you need the seal. * While installing the rails, start at the middle (place the first clamp in the middle). I used a vice-grips to initially hold the rail in place - I didn't have a helper and this made it easy for me to keep the rail in place before installing the first clamp. * On the rear panel, I had an issue that required me to remove the latches on both sides of the cover / rear panel, reposition, and reinstall with the sheet metal screws (I used my screw gun for this - but be careful not to strip and over-tighten). The latches were installed with some adjustment capability, but not enough. The latches were sticking out too far and hitting the rails! At first I thought that my rails weren't all the way in - I confirmed this wasn't the issue. A look at the latches on the rear panel compared to the latches on the center latching panel clearly depicted my issue - the latches on the center panel (exact same type of latches) were further in, allowing clearance from the rail. The latches on the rear panel were clearly misadjusted and sticking out too far towards the rails. Again, I didn't have enough adjustment on the latches to compensate. This was fairly simple to do - took an extra 5 or 10 minutes (after figuring out the issue). But this shouldn't have been necessary. If yours sticks - check the rails before moving any latches. You want to make sure the rails are properly seated - otherwise they can interfere with the panels. Overall, nice product and nice look! Hopefully it does a good job repelling water - I have heard feedback both ways. I didn't want to rate that particular function as I haven't tested it. Overall, it took less than an hour to install - even with the minor latch issue. I installed myself without a helper.

Extremely fast shipping, and it arrived a day earlier than it was previously reported. The cover came with a QR code, and an alternative website link for video instructions, which are easy to follow. It took less than an hour to assemble. Clearly a very durable cover, which I had on my previous 2017 Ram 1500 before trading it in, which is why chose the same cover again, as the old cover was still in great condition. I noted that some modifications were made to the newer cover, which I view as a huge win, such as a gutter system on the side rails which ensures the bed compartment won't be compromised with water. Also, better seals were observed on the new cover. Extremely easy to open, and I paid less for this cover than I did in 2017 for my old cover. Finally, the cover fit like a glove on my 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew cab, worth every penny!

When UPS delivered this cover, they set it down on the concrete with the cab corner down. That broke the plastic corner off inside the packaging. I contacted the seller RevPlanet late in the evening on a Wednesday. To my surprise they responded within 30 minutes that evening. They were kind enough to offer to exchange the entire cover. Due to the size, it was not worth shipping for a simple fix with a new corner. They contacted BAK, and had them send out a new one. It took less than two minutes to fix. Product looks great, and fits my Ram 2500 really good. The mat finish looks great and matches the bed rails. Fortunately this install did not need all the rail shims for the clamps on my truck. It looks like they made updates on this cover compared to the one on my brother-in-law's Chevy model from a year ago. They added the front rubber lip and weather strip across the front. I don't know if the shims came later, but his installer did not use those and his rails are terrible and all over the place with the clamps not being straight. I do get condensation on these cool mornings under the cover. My corners stay pretty dry. It's not water tight, but its close. Just a few drops in the corners. The hinges on my old Tundra on the G2 model lasted about 7 years before it fell apart. BAK says this model has updated hinges. I hope they last at least as long. I want to thank RevPlanet for taking care of the little bump in the road. I would definitely purchase from them again. They were awesome!

First of all, I want to say that the problems that I had with the two covers sent to me had nothing to do with the seller or shipping. These covers looked good from a distance and are not hard to install, that's the only positives. Both the original cover and the replacement that I received were scratched. Both boxes contained tiny metal shards. These were likely the cause of the deep. noticeable scratches. See the pictures. Both covers also leaked, not at the fold, but at the interface of the frame and the aluminum sheeting. These are $950 covers. I expected better. OK, now let's assume that there were no scratches or leaks. For a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500, the cover does not extend far enough past the interface between the gate and the bed. This allows water to go freely into the bed and soak everything that is in the last 12-inches or so from the gate (see the pic). The new Dodge Ram owners who gave the cover a good review either sealed the gate with another product or they don't care about their stuff getting soaked. I did finally get a refund, but not after lifting covers on and off of my truck, destroying them and packaging, shipping one of the destroyed covers back to them and disposing of the other one. The purpose for going with the Backflip was to save my bad back by never having to remove the cover. I returned to the Solid Fold cover the I’ve been using for years (yes, I realize these are made by the same company). Lastly, the MX4 truck bed cover is rated for up to 400 lbs. of evenly distributed weight. Before I destroyed one of the covers, I wanted to see if it could hold my 250 lb. body. It could not, as it buckled under my weight. If you do get one of these that is not scratched, do not climb on it, sit on it or set anything on it because it will likely buckle, scratch or dent. These are apparently just for looks (from a distance).

The way this attaches to the truck bed is much more secure. I bought one that was poorly designed I drilled holes and added nuts and bolts. It still blew off at night in the desert. The rails were still there. All the latches snapped, they just were not strong enough. The MX4 has bolt on pressure clamps that fit in slots and stay secure. It also bolts on across the front to the bed lip. Much better thought out!
