  • Absolutely worth the money gorgeous product but you better have 2 to 4 strong people
Style: Norwood Size: 20 ft. x 12 ft.
This is definitely a 2 to 4 person build. Much of it can be built by one person but putting up the beams and putting the roof panels up onto it absolutely takes for strong people. This is a big project. We are super happy with it it is beautiful. We would recommend it to anyone. The wood is gorgeous. The engineering is great. We couldn’t be more pleased. ... show more

  • Awesome Quality.
Style: Norwood Size: 20 ft. x 12 ft.
As a general contractor I can be pretty picky about products. I have to say, as long as you follow the very simple and detailed instructions, this is a great product. Heavy, stout and tedious, but the end result speaks for itself. Every hole lined up, I had a few extra nuts and bolts for mistakes or breaks and that was great. As the last roof panel went in, I heard a thump, and poof, everything was perfectly aligned and I could not happier. Some parts came damaged in shipping and they sent me replacements in less than a weeks time with no haggle. You absolutely cannot beat this product at this price point. Worth every penny and then some! ... show more

  • The build.
Style: Norwood Size: 16 ft. x 12 ft.
We love our 12x16 pergola. It has a "state park" type look and feel. We ordered ours in June of '24, so we have seen all seasons. Here are some comments to things we saw in several reviews: 1). Kudos to the husband and wife teams that took on this build! You are amazing. My wife and have done lots of projects together and we took a pass on this one due to the overhead work and weight of structure (1,644lbs total). We hired a carpentry crew (5 man) and it took them a full day. 2.) Delivery: 6+ big boxes and not in your back yard. Delivery to curbside. Empty out 1/2 of your garage and get indoors prior to inclement weather. Furniture dolly or 4 wheel flat cart helpful. 3.) Comments about cedar: this is an engineered cedar product, not actual cedar board from a mill. The 6x6 posts are hollow. If they were not you wouldn't be able to pick them up. A good analogy would be Trex decking or composite patio furniture. The boards are straight, true and will last forever. 4.) We used 5-6 foldable party tables to arrange the hardware and boards adjacent to our build site and at waist height. They are all labeled in a manner such that you use (a) 1st, b 2nd ect. Ideally, your set up area should be 50% larger than the size of what you are building or you will be stepping over, tripping and wasting time. Unboxing and organizing took us 3-4 hours. 5.) Our installation was on an existing concrete patio that we leveled prior to installation. (Mud jacked). Kit includes brackets for tap con installation of 6x6's. We used vinyl planking cut into 6x6" squares to shim. Build must be plum. If installation is adjacent to an existing structure as ours was, account for overhang. 6.) Drip edge was not included and I was a bit surprised by that. I did not notice this until a heavy rain left the facia boards wet in areas. I resolved the issue when I installed gutters with screening. 7.) Cord for power pack is 24". Have a small extension cord at the ready to your outdoor GFI circuit. Some communities may require a permit for backyard construction like this and some HOA'S will not permit so again, research. We added a 42" fan with light kit to 1 of our roof supports upon completion. 8.) We've had 12" snows and several severe storms. No issues or leaks. We had no missing parts to kit. A few extras actually. Hope this helps. I will answer any questions posted to the community promptly. Enjoy! EK. ... show more

  • Follow the instructions and you'll be cooling off in the shade.
Style: Norwood Size: 14x10
My family couldn't be more happy with this purchase. All the materials were maticulously packed. The app that supports the building instructions was great to provide different perspectives. Built this with my father and every time a bolt hole lined up he would compliment the craftsmanship and precision. Now that it is together and provides the shade we need, we'll be happy to enjoy this gazebo for years. This is a solid piece of engineering. The company's follow up support was also very helpful. I'd give it more than 5 stars, but alas I'm limited. Hopefully the review adds the extra. ... show more

  • Building the 10x12 gazebo
Style: Arlington Size: 12 ft. x 10 ft.
fyi, upon the delivery, the box notes that the "cedar wood" is actually chinese cedar which is not as quality as red cedar...not a deal breaker but it would have been nice for that factor to be in the product description. Google Chinese Cedar:Is Chinese cedar real cedar? Inform Yourself! Know the Difference Between Types of Cedar ... Chinese Cedar- Used by many fence companies because of its lower cost, Chinese Cedar is not actually cedar, it is a fir. Its ability to resist decay and weathering is inferior to Western Red Cedar making it less suitable for fences and other outdoor structures. The other thing to then know is that putting a sealant on the wood BEFORE assembly is highly recomended....took the two of us about 3-4 hours to stain (used Red Cedar as pigment which looks outstanding!) Doing so also familiarized us with the all the parts. Apply sealant every two years is recommended. the Gazebo was delivered in 5 separate boxes on a large wooden pallet all of which weighed close to 800 pounds and each box was pretty heavy, esp the box with the metal roofing. The quality of the boxes and way in which everything was packaged was outstanding. Shipping was with some company out of Seattle and only took 3-4 days to get to NH...but then it took another 4-5 days for delivery from Concord, an hour away. Fortunately the delivery was not in the rain...it would be a good idea to have a 10x12 tarp available in case of rain unless you have a garage where the pallet can be rolled into. In our case once they dropped it on driveway, given the weight of the boxes, it was clear that they were not going to physically be able to get the boxes under cover up on our porch. The combination of pape hard copy and app video instructions is also top notch as is their customer service. I wrote to them via email asking about whether applying sealant was necessary and they got back to me within 12 hours. I used a sealant which was cedar in color and it improved the appearance of the wood. All the wooden parts and assorted screws and bolts are well labeled and pre drilled. It is also helpful to roam thru all of the Amazon reviews for pointers and info. What saved us was a great video on youtube...type in this to find it: Backyard Discovery Arlington 12' x 10' Cedar Wood Outdoor Gazebo. It took my wife and I considerable time and effort to put this together and there were occasions when it felt like Mission Impossible. So we would take a break and watch the youtube video more closely. The printed directions and the app give you important info on part #'s and how things go together but it does not for example show you how to go about putting it together...for example, the youtube we found showed how to push the completed roof sections up a 2x4 ramp. Each roof section is very large and very heavy....I could not imagine how my wife and I could have gotten them up on the roof even with the ramp idea. So we paid a carpenter friend and his son to stop by and we managed to get the roof up. For $2000, overall, the gazebo is a great deal and a bit of a marvel of engineering and very attractive to boot. ... show more
