I have a Timber Creek tent from Academy and don't know if it's difficult to find replacement poles for all tents or just Academy tents, but I didn't want to just throw away a perfectly good tent. Took a chance on these even though the length was about ~4 inches longer... think my original tent poles were 166"....and these are about 3.68" longer. Was really happy when I put them onto the tent and, yes, the tent is certainly more taut, but not to the point of not functioning. I'd say they are good replacement poles and I'll know a bit better after first night out. I think there are 4 additional lengths than my original poles, but each individual length is shorter, so it equals out. So, moral: measure your overall length and see if you can get close. Longer than originals obviously better than shorter.

I use the pole segments to replace or repair poles on other used tents. They work great. They are not compatible with some other UL model pole segments but do seem to be compatible with some SL tent models. I bought the two longer poles and then just disassembled them and cut them to needed lengths with a pipe cutter. They have solved a long running problem that I've had with missing poles. One thing I wish they came with is extra end caps. I've had to innovate and find creative ways to make my own end caps. Drywall hangers seem to do the trick as long as they are the correct diameter.

Purchased to replace a broken 20-foot pole for my 6-person, 2-pole tent. Upon opening, realized that this pole was dramatically thinner in diameter than the original. I worried it wouldn't be sturdy enough to support the tent, but was pleasantly surprised when I was able to set it up. Because of it's lack of rigidity, I had to stake out the corners that this pole supports very well so that some of the structure of the tent resulted from the floor being stretched flat and tightly staked. I have to stand up the other pole in its corner grommets before standing this one up as this one doesn't hold the dome shape on its own while getting the other pole into its grommets. When taking down the tent, I have to PUSH this pole through the pole sleeve, as pulling it just makes the sections come apart. Decent pole in a pinch, but I am looking now for something thicker and sturdier. But at least this will get me through the season, and will serve as a back-up in case I break another pole later on. There is no way that two of this pole could support my tent.

I ordered the poles to replace some fiberglass poles. Saving a pound less in weight and my hands. The fiberglass poles had fibers coming off, causing micro splinters. These poles are excellent in every way. I ordered the next size up in length, then removed one segment to fit the size I need. Now I have an extra two pole segments if ever I need to replace a damaged one. I definitely recommend these poles!
