  • Highly recommend.
Color: Black
Love this!! It is indeed “dime sized,” but is a fabulous multi-tool. This was a gift for my husband at Christmas, but I liked it so much that I carry it now! This is very small, but effective! Fits in your pocket very easily. Must have! This would be great for a hiking pack or a purse bc it takes up little room and weighs very little. Gerber products are all quality, and I highly recommend this little guy for anyone that needs a small multi-tool! ... show more

  • Compact, Well-Built, and Super Convenient
Color: Red
I really like this handy little multitool. It feels like it’s built with solid, high-quality materials, and I appreciate that it’s not too bulky. Unlike some multitools that weigh down your keychain, this one is slim and lightweight, so it doesn’t feel like I’m carrying around a heavy chunk of metal. It's also super easy to use. I like that you can simply pick and pull out whichever tool you need at any time. The design is intuitive and convenient, which makes it a great everyday carry item. Overall, it's a great addition to my keychain, practical, durable, and unobtrusive. ... show more

  • Useful multi-tool for the money!
Color: Black
I use the Gerber Dime often. I keep this little multi-tool on my Keychain. It's easy to open and lock. It fits in my pocket and I can barely feel it's there. It's not very thick, but it's heavier than I prefer for such a small tool. I've used every tool on it, but my favorite and most used is the package/box opener. The flathead screwdriver/pry bar is probably my second most used tool, and it's decently functional for it's purpose. The scissors are useful to clip fingernails or small strings from clothing, but that's about it. The knife blade is a sheepfoot shape, and it definitely needs sharpened before use. The nail file/Philip head screwdriver is ok for filing fingernails, but not as a screwdriver. The tweezers are decent as I used them to remove a splinter lol. Then the pliers which I wouldn't recommend using for any large tasks. I've only used the pliers once to loosen a small bolt. I gave 4 stars because of the weight of the tool, and the pliers aren't very useful. Overall it's worth the money for what you get from it, and I'd recommend. ... show more

  • Excellent Everyday Carry Mini Multitool
Color: Red
Needed a replacement for a Leatherman Squirt P4, but that model has been discontinued. Needed one with mini pliers, so enter the Gerber Dime. A bit bulkier and heavier than my old Leatherman, but it is heavy duty, well built and everything I need in an everyday carry mini multitool. The best part, the Gerber Dime is much less expensive, but with the same qualtiy and rock solid warranty. ... show more

  • Durable and useful toolkit
Color: Green
Comparing NexTool EDC keychain and Gerber Dime. I don’t like number rating so it’s all descriptive. Overall differences are more slight than pronounced (except for the scissors) . Both were $29 and arrived within 48 hours. NexTool about 2 5/8” closed. Dime is 2 3/4” closed including projecting bottle opener. Main body closed is about 1/4” less than that. NexTool has a textured handle for good grip. Tool finish is satin which kind of makes the metal feel cheap to me. Overall the blades are bigger than the Dime and seems like you could get a little more done with them beyond bare necessity. Scissors in particular are superior. File grain (coarse and fine) is significantly more pronounced than the Dime. Spring action of the NexTool pliers mildly less than Dime’s. Dime’s pliers are about 1-2mm thicker than NexTool. Overall Gerber feels more solidly built but NexTool’s tools seem more useful. One of these is for the car and one is for a weekend daypack. ... show more

  • Best multitool I own
Color: Red
I've had a Gerber Dime for 8 years, and it still functions perfectly. I've gotten more use out of it than any other multitool I own because it's small and light enough to always have it with me on my keyring.

  • half is great! the other half disappointing
Color: Black
I would have given it 2 stars, except for one redeeming quality (see below and pic) that made me decide to keep it (well, half of it). If Gerber sold only the half I kept, by itself, I'd give it 5! But it's kind of a funny story... Context: After always having a Swiss Army Knife as a kid, I then carried 6 or 8 different multi-tools over the years, mostly Leatherman (wave and juice) and an older version of a Gerber gear mp600 that I modified to add scissors from a broken SAK. I carried that on my belt for years (the sliding pliers are great, though the quality of other tools is mediocre). When I saw the Dime I was hopeful; I've mostly carried the Squirt PS4 for many years now, I like how compact it is and I've left all the others around (car, backpack, office drawer, bike bag) so they are handy but I don't have to fit them in my pocket (I'm tired of the belt sheaths!). I actually had the squirt replaced recently under warranty, after about 10 years a plier jaw broke off and they sent a brand new unit that's even a bit nicer than the old one. So when I got my new Dime, I was not disappointed by the things I was most interested in: the bottle opener is great (that is by far the worst tool on the squirt, it barely works); and I LOVE the package opener on the Dime, and the tweezers. I thought the other tools would be comparable, it's mostly the same list, but after using the Dime for a while I realized that most of its other tools are basically garbage. The pliers are cheaper and thinner, and the pivot has some side play; the wire cutter literally cannot cut, it can only mangle wires of various types (I tried! how can you not cut soft solid copper 14 Ga wire? repeatedly bending the wire back and forth is more effective than this thing!); and the scissors also mangle, rather than cut. The file is way too short to be useful. The knife blade and two screwdrivers are fine, but I already have those on the squirt. After two weeks of using the Dime, I decided to get the squirt back out, but I immediately missed the three things I like most on the Dime (package opener, bottle opener, and tweezers). Then I realized that these tools are all on the same side. So I got a torx set that had a small enough wrench (I already had one that fit, but needed two), and unscrewed the pivot where that side arm meets the pliers, and pulled out the pliers and the other side that is attached to them (see pic). Replaced the pin, and voila! I finally have a new tool I love. I guess it's a half a Dime, so it's a Nickel! The paint got pretty beat up in the process, and actually the first pivot screw head sheared off when I was trying to loosen it, so I had to pull the whole pivot out of the other side. Doing that and reassembling it was kind of arduous, and I can never put it back in original condition. (But why would I want to?). Now it's a narrow tool that I can hang it on the same Nite-ize hook on my belt loop with the squirt, without too much bulk or tool redundancy (carrying both full tools took too much space, and felt stupid). The only thing the two now have in common is the regular knife blade, but the two blades are pretty different designs, so I will save the Nickel blade for careful/sharp tasks and use the squirt blade for more sturdy work - the squirt also has a sharper tip that doubles as an awl. And both knife edges will stay sharp and clean for a long time, because now I have that package opener, which really is amazing; I use that more than anything else! So thanks, Gerber, I guess... despite the disappointment, I now have something I'm really happy with... after a bunch of extra work, and throwing half the tool away.... :( At least it wasn't expensive. But I can't give it more than 2 stars, as a tool, when so much if it is such poor quality. I have to wonder about all the 5 star reviews, these must be people who don't really use tools much, or have very low expectations ... ? ... show more
