  • 8 steps charging stage battery charger, battery maintainer, trickle charger for car and SUV.
AXTRA 3.6 amp and 0.9 amp car battery charger maintainer works great. It automatically detect 12-volt AGM battery and fully charge it. As a rule, it's better for a vehicle's battery to be charged slowly than quickly, if you can spare the time. A jump starts or using a fast charger on modern cars can fry all kinds of delicate electronics, and then you may be looking at some real money. Modern cars are actually computers which just happen to have some wheels attached. You can do thousands of dollars of damage to the electronics if you are careless or sloppy with jump starts or quick chargers. A slow charge can be accomplished with a trickle charger. Trickle chargers come in both automatic and manual varieties, and are designed to recharge batteries slowly, over longer periods of time. AXTRA automatic trickle chargers are effective for vehicles that will go unused for several months at a time, as they can offset the natural rate of self-discharge that the batteries experience. The self-discharge adds up, and can potentially drain your battery entirely by the time you try to use your vehicle again. Since these chargers are automatic, they'll only fill up enough to compensate for the small amount of battery life that's discharged before turning off again. You can leave automatic trickle chargers plugged in, due to their safety features. If the battery charger is plugged into a grounded wall outlet and attached properly, you can leave the charger attached until the battery is fully charged. If you're worried about the cold of a garage affecting the battery's health. if you're storing a vehicle, such as an RV, for the winter, you can also detach the battery and leave it charging indoors. Charging the battery itself is a fairly simple job, but can also be potentially dangerous, so you'll need to make sure you're careful. Any task that involves working with electrical current poses a shock risk, and spilled battery acid is harmful to skin. Your charger will come with detailed instructions that should be followed, but there are a few rules that are more or less universal. To start, you'll always want to make sure that your charger is off otherwise, you'll risk subjecting yourself to an electric shock. Then, you'll connect the charger's positive clamp to the battery's positive terminal and the charger's negative clamp to the battery's negative terminal. Usually, the charger's positive clamp will be red and the negative clamp will be black. After the charger is connected to the battery, individual instructions may vary. Some chargers may have settings to adjust that will determine the rate at which the battery is refilled, while others can just be turned on. Either way, at this point you'll be ready to start charging. The amount of time you'll need to take to fully charge your battery depends on the existing charge level and the rate of your charger. Let's say you have a 12-volt battery that holds about 48 amps of power. If your battery is completely drained and your charger can replenish 3.6 amps per hour, a full charge will take 13.5 hours. If your charger has an adjustable amperage rate, you can determine how long it will take to fully charge. Again, it's better to charge your battery slowly, but in the event that you need a quick charge, you can set your device to a high rate. Just make sure that you keep an eye on it if it's a manual charger in order to prevent overcharging. ... show more

  • Most reliable battery charger maintainer for European and Japanese automotive. Most reliable battery charger maintainer for European and Japanese automotive.
I used AXTRA car battery charger for my BMW 5 series. BMW vehicles are fun to drive but too fancy to keep maintenance regularly. Battery compartment is hiding in the back trunk, unlike my other Honda - the battery is located at the front under the hood, and it was easier to access. My BMW has AGM battery so I switched to 3.6A COLD/AGM mode to maintain the battery while I’m traveling to Europe. The battery charger is great, and it doesn’t get hot. I set it to 0.9A AGM mode to charge overnight. Trickle charge is good to keep the battery fully charge. When it comes to motorcycles, RVs, boats or any other vehicles that are likely to go long periods of time without use, though, drainage is a major concern. Like cars, these vehicles typically use lead-acid batteries, which experience self-discharge when not in use. It's recommended that you charge these batteries every 30 days in order to prevent battery death and preserve overall battery health. Like with stored cars, you can also leave these vehicles' batteries hooked up to automatic chargers or a car battery maintainer. Most likely, the answer is a regular lead-acid battery, but if you drive an RV, it probably has a deep-cycle battery. In any event, you'll have to make sure any charger you consider is compatible with your battery. Automatic chargers are typically easier to use, as they regulate their charge to prevent battery-damaging overcharging, but manual chargers are better for reviving dead batteries. • The best car battery charger, trickle charger and maintainer all in one. The best car battery charger, trickle charger and maintainer all in one.
To maintain your car battery: You can leave it charged the battery connected indefinitely. The battery charger will engage 4 LEDs in the power indicator (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) to maintain the battery. Battery charger may not change to standby mode when it detects a voltage drops on the battery. All 4 LEDs will stay in maintenance mode in step 8 charging stage. The battery charger will continuously monitor the battery voltage to determine if a maintenance charge should be initiated. If the terminal voltage falls below 6.4V (for 6V battery) or 12.8V (for 12V battery), the charger will start the maintenance cycle until voltage reaches to 7.2V (6V battery) or 14.4V (12V battery) and then it discontinues to the charge cycle. The cycle between trickle and maintenance is repeated indefinitely to keep the battery at full charge, without overcharging. The battery charger can be left connected indefinitely for all year round. To change and select mode (Cold/AGM or NORM): There is a 3 to 5 seconds interval to change the mode after you connect the battery clamps to the battery. For the safety feature, mode button will be locked after 5 seconds connecting to the battery. Mode button is for manually select different amperage. Once the clamps is connected and plugged it into the power outlet, the battery charger will automatically detect 6V or 12V depends on the battery voltage for you. Fully-automatic battery charger is the best feature on the market so you do not need to worry about overcharging the battery or manually select the voltage after there is a power outage. I tested for reverse polarity and it worked. The error yellow light came on. Package includes o-ring terminal cable, battery clamps, battery charger and user manual. ERROR light in YELLOW is reverse polarity. Please see pictures. When the car battery maintainer is maintaining a battery, it delivers a continuous 3.6 amps of power until the battery is full, and then it goes into float mode. This means it doesn't deliver any more electricity until the battery drops from full due to standard discharge. When it does, AXTRA battery charger boosts it back up to full, and then goes idle until further discharge occurs. AXTRA battery charger can charge and maintain lead-acid, flooded and sealed maintenance-free batteries, which makes it a versatile choice. While the charging feature is mostly recommended for vehicles with smaller engines such as motorcycles, ATVs, and jet skis, it can maintain cars, SUVs and other larger vehicles. It has built-in protections against overheating, overcharging, short-circuit and open-circuit accidents. It's also spark-proof and has reverse polarity protection, which means that connecting the cables in the incorrect order to the battery terminals won't cause damage. As motorcycle batteries are smaller than car batteries, they require less charging power, so the 0.9A single amp is more than enough to provide maintenance. That said, it can work on larger vehicles as well, just so long as they use lead-acid, flooded or sealed-maintenance batteries. Smart memory effect is the best whenever there is a power outage, I don’t have to worry to reset the voltage to 12v. ... show more

  • Battery charger and maintainer works for Jet ski, lawnmower and my Audi A6.
I have a 2017 Audi A6, I go away for 5 months and when I return to s Florida, the battery is dead, i have bought 3 new batteries in 3 yrs from Audi service and now they want me to buy another battery plus a battery maintainer. Clearly, the main advantage of battery maintainers is that they won’t overcharge the vehicle’s battery. This makes them perfect for keeping car batteries charged up while the vehicle is in storage. After all, leaving a battery charger connected to a car for months will overcharge the battery, but leaving a battery maintainer connected for that long is fine because charging will simply stop once the battery is full. This way, car owners can be sure their battery will be fully charged and ready to start the car even after spending months in storage. Durable and versatile, the AXTRA automatic battery charger is a jack of all trades in the world of maintainers. Ideal for climates where the weather continually impacts battery performance, this model can be used as a trickle charger, desulfator, and battery maintainer. Compatible with 6-volt and 12-volt lead batteries, AGM, and gel cell batteries, this charger is safe to use in just about any situation. To desulfate fix damage from undercharge, it sends a pulsing current to free your plates from the buildup. Fitted with safeguards, after the charge is complete, it returns to float mode. The maintainer prevents issues with overcharge, shorts, and reverse polarity. A simple, plug-and-play design, you attach it to the battery and it goes right to work. With an impressive 8-stages charging approach, it diagnoses, starts slow, moves through the bulk, absorption, and float state. You can use it on batteries of all sizes and types, including those on motorcycles and off-road vehicles. You can easily connect this to any battery with either the clips or the O-ring terminals. This makes it easy to use this tender with several different vehicles. This tender also comes with several safety and battery saving features. These include protections like reverse polarity, overcharging, and short circuiting. ... show more

  • keeps going into standby mode
This thing worked fine twice. After that, every time I hook it up to a low or dead battery it goes into standby mode and wont come out of it. there are no instructions on what to do when this happens. I had to order a larger battery charger that can do everything. I think this was a waste of money. I am editing because the seller contacted me immediately and offered to send a new one to replace the one I found not to work. It came promptly and is working. When it comes to picking the right battery charger, the kind of vehicle you drive typically doesn't play a major role. After all, most cars, motorcycles, SUVs, trucks and other road vehicles use lead-acid batteries, which are relatively resilient and inexpensive to manufacture. I have used it to charge my cruiser bike for a couple hours and it was already full charged. Now the battery charger is on standby mode. The battery charger will automatically reset to the previous voltage after a power outage that it is a great feature. AXTRA battery charger that can power up a 12V lead acid battery in an SUV can do the same for one in a motorcycle for instance. It's an automatic charger, with charge controller which means it will shut down on its own when your battery charge is full, preventing overcharging. It even has a float battery maintainer mode that will keep it at full power during periods of inactivity, compensating for the self-discharge associated with lead-acid batteries. Another feature that makes portable car battery charger useful is the fact that it can charge completely dead batteries above 2-volt. This means that it will deliver a continuous charge that proceeds unabated until you switch it off, and it can be used to resuscitate a battery with 2-volt battery. It's an automatic smart battery charger with charge controller that will fill up your battery and then stop, allowing you to charge it overnight without worrying about damaging the power bank. It keeps the user updated on the progress of the charging process, and the unit also offers an easy-to-select range of battery types that it works on standard lead-acid, sealed lead acid, 6 volt and 12 volt battery, deep-cycle, and AGM battery types and more.
