  • Solid charger, nice features and display.
Works exactly as you'd expect for a J1772 charger. Charges up to 32A, and the unit appears to be well built. The cable is thick, and the control box is a nice distance from the power plug. Comes with a nice case. Well priced. Screen is a nice bonus, with interesting information such as voltage, current, temperature, time charging and total power used to charge. One downside to the screen data is that it resets the instant you press the button on the charge handle. So you have to remember to look before you unplug. Would be great if it remembered this until the next time you plug in. The ability to change current and delay charging is great, but I found the selection buttons for current and delayed charging to be somewhat frustrating. There is a long delay between press and the screen showing a response, which often causes you to press an extra time. This requires you to cycle all the way around to get to the value you wanted, and is time consuming. This does come with a 120V adapter as well, but note that it will only work on 20A outlets (the ones with one of the prongs sideways). I'd love for AWESAFE to come out with a 40A version of this. NMEA 14-50 outlets can support this and most Teslas can charge at 40A or more. The extra charge speed would be nice. (I got this product for free from the vendor) ... show more

  • Significantly faster
I have used the charger a few times now. I can say that I am extremely pleased with this charger. I bought one from Tesla but it requires a new outlet to be installed which I haven't hired an electrician to install in my garage. This charger is plug and play like the free one from Tesla but at least 4 times faster in my limited use. It also uses less energy but charges faster. This charger does not get hot like I have read happens with other chargers. This charger is easy to use and the cord is long enough to reach my car parked outside of my garage. Overall I'm definitely happy with my investment. It comes with an adapter for a regular outlet but one prong is horizontal so I bought a cheap adapter to make it work. ... show more

  • EV charger
This is a good level 1 & 2 EV charger. It comes with a bag and short cord to convert it from 4 prong level 2 to 110v 3 prong outlet for level 1. It connects well. This is reliable and effective and affordable. It's simple and no frills, but has all the functionality you truly need.

  • Works great thus far
First off, I don't have a NEMA 5-20 outlet anywhere on any property I own, so I can't test that. You can't plug that adapter into a NEMA 6-20, which is 220v, because the plug is different and also it's the wrong voltage. I do have NEMA 14-50s all over the place though. The only real problem I have with this is the tiny screen. There's a good bit of information on there if you can see it. The older members of my household can't really make it out, especially the stuff above the line on the screen. It's super tiny. Outside of the tiny screen, this works great. My wife told me that she wanted an EV6 GT, and I figured that meant she'd end up on some wait list. Well, turns out, you can just go out and buy one right now. That's what she did. That car runs this at 32a the whole time it's charging. The charger has had zero problems there. This takes something like 9 hours to charge it. That's a lot longer than the 2.5 hours it takes to charge my RAV4 Prime. The Kia is kind of awful. She took it off the charger, drove it to a shopping center 45 minutes away, went shopping at a few stores, and came home with it on 5% charge. With this, it wasn't going to be fully charged until the next day. That's not the fault of this charger, it's just reality. I guess full EVs are just better served by level 3 stuff. I very much prefer my RAV4 Prime. I also guess that the Kia prefers three phase, 16a chargers since it's 11kwh, which is exactly what a 16a three phase charger is. Yeah, no. I'm not installing three phase for that Kia. Anyway, I like simple things. This is simple. Yes, you can set a charging timer if you have peak rates (which I don't). That's easy, you just press the button marked "delay." You can also change the amperage by going through the very obvious single step of pressing the big old A on the front. Easy. Note that it will forget everything on the screen the second you unplug it, if you can read it anyway. ... show more

  • Simple
This is easy to use and works well. The cord could be longer but since it's not a problem, it's fine.

  • Top quality (small screen)
This EV charger is constructed of top-grade materials and heavy-gauge metal. All touch surfaces are either industrial rubber or hard plastic. The native NEMA 14-50 plug will charge up to 32 amps at 220V, but the included NEMA 5-20 adapter will only do 16 amps at 110V. The digital readout on the charger base is very small but readable up-close. The buttons on the base are a little difficult to work with since they are capacitive only - you have to press slowly and firmly to reliably change settings. However, once you have it setup for a single EV, you should not really have to mess with those buttons much. This unit will last years. ... show more
