I'm very happy with this Volvo system analyzer. The instructions manual is lacking info, but I was able to figure it out within a few minutes. After running a full system scan, use arrows to move up or down to select test, click ok then get results of specific test. You then can see results and clear the error. I'm an advanced DIY home mechanic. I bought the 7110 for its Volvo specific capabilities for my 2004 S60. I really wanted to like this scanner and when it powers on it looks nice. The OBD II connection worked every time and I even got live data, but I already have a generic scanner for those functions. Unfortunately, when the special "For Volvo" mode was selected, the 7110 would not communicate with my car. I downloaded three failure traces and sent them to customer support. I updated the device software. The folks at customer support were responsive and I believe they tried, but they were not able to solve the communication problem. We emailed back and forth over three days (and nights). Updating the device software is one of those things that is not hard if you know how and impossible if you don't. You go to their website and find 7110. The key is to know that .7z and .rar files are types of compressed aka "zipped" files and you need to go find and download the magic decoder utility off other websites in order to "unzip" the new software. If you want to send a failure trace, you need to download a software update in order to get a copy of the secret update.exe file. This is completely unclear in the user manual or on their website In summary, if you buy this scanner and it communicates with your car, I think you will be happy. However, if you buy it and have a communication failure, it's probably best to return it. I hope that explains my 3 rating and helps someone in the future. ... show more

Doesn’t do much on my 03 Volvo S60 2.4t bought it to clear airbag warning light but it won’t let me. Used it on a 09 Volvo XC90 and it works for that.

I tried every way that I could think of. Ignition off, ignition on, car running. I waited 1 minute and scanned, I waited 10 minutes and scanned. I tried 1 day later, still says "communication error" and won't scan the car. I check all of the fuses and they are all good.

Have a couple of Volvo's with OBD2 within the model years listed as working with the scanner. This code reader did connect via the Volvo system option on the scanner and did go through various modules. It did give any fault codes in the Volvo modules, but these were only general modules and it did not give any sub-module information and did not provide detailed faults of any parts which it should. As such, its use for troubleshooting was not helpful as the detailed information of sub-module info is needed. It only gave general module info which was not really that useful. Disappointed as I had hoped that this would help so that going to the Volvo dealer or mechanic wouldn't be necessary to get an accurate diagnosis. ... show more
