I was a little skeptical researching different scanners. My check engine light went on and I went to AutoZone to get their free scan. They claim it’s the same as the mechanics use. They came up with no error codes and asked, “are you sure the check engine light was on?” I ordered this one because it seemed to be the most reasonably priced while claiming to check more systems. Using the special vw/audi mode, it found about 10 fault codes and let me reset them. They had a note in the manual that if the light comes back on it can’t be reset until it’s repaired. I reset and no returning light yet. The systems check was very comprehensive and came back with errors as minute as the right button in the multimedia system was malfunctioning to the satellite radio wasn’t receiving a signal. Have a 2010 Volvo XC90 V8, and this is a must have. The information it has for you is invaluable. The OBD2 is useful in and of itself, but having it live stream data while driving let’s you really get to know your vehicle. Can reset airbag warning which is a nice plus. Volvo 2004 S60r model everything stock I tried 2x; returned first one it would show all sensors but wouldn't read sensors for real time data Had a lot of difficulty getting basic info to stay in handheld, when it finally did wouldn't read sensor. The second device I will return Monday wont even see sensors which tells me there's a bug in the machine or code. I too am a fairly decent wrench turner but by no means a pro my expertise is in computer hardware. Slick interface to have but I need specifically a scanner for Volvo's all ready have a multi faceted Ancel OBD2. ... show more

Installed two parts for my Volkswagen Tiguan 1st was, Right Rear ABS sensor that was causing ABS Light,Tire Pressure Light,Parking Brake Light , Air Bag light That part shut down all those systems because of excessive grease and dirt build up on sensor likely blocking signal but I just replaced it. 2nd part was for Check Engine Light, Part replaced was an upstream O2 sensor. Went through each system with this scanner tool and was able to reset all lights after parts replacement! All systems now working! This scanner tool is top quality and I definitely recommend it !     • Does Not Work to Register New Battery in US Specification 2011 Audi S4 or 2013 Audi Allroad

I purchased this scan tool specifically to register my installation of a new battery into my 2011 Audi S4. I purchased the battery at a local Advanced Auto Parts store, which advertised they do installation and registration of the battery, but in fact they do neither, and the store I purchased from recommended that I call another AAP store in my area which I did only to have the person who answered the telephone reply that he didn't know anything about battery registration. So, obviously, I chose not to go there and possibly have them screw up my car completely. I have a Foxwell NT500 scanner that I purchased in 2012 for use with my Audi S4, which can provide a phenomenal amount of data on my Audi vehicles [even percent of ethanol in the fuel!], but it doesn't include all of the functions necessary to register the new battery and update the battery management system. After reviewing several scan tool products online at Amazon, I purchased an Autophix 7610 scan tool which specifically advertises as having among its special functions Battery Registration. WRONG!! It does work to enter the new battery information, but not sufficiently to clear the error code and allow the car to recognize the new battery and reset the battery energy management system. [The replacement battery from AAP was exactly the same size [H9], type[ flooded acid] ,and capacity [110 Ah] and even the same manufacturer [VAO = Varta] as the OEM battery.] On the positive side, the Autophix 7610 display screen is full color, sufficiently bright and very legible. The tool does appear to work to make it easy to reset the on-board computers for an oil change and the general time-dependent maintenance reminders that appear in the dashboard display when you start the car and when you shut off the engine and remove the key. July 25, 2023 and July 26, 2023 I wish to add that Autophix support staff has been very quickly responsive via email and has been trying to resolve my problem -- inability of the 7610 scan tool to reset the 0019 Gateway fault that occurred when the original battery died. I have run the tests again and sent Autophix a bin file with the the data. At first the tool wouldn't communicate with the 0019 Gateway CAN. After downloading the software update for the 7610 tool from Autophix support website, I again entered the new battery registration information and the car accepted that, and then followed the on-screen instructions to cycle the ignition off for 10 seconds then back on, and that did not clear the fault code. I manually cleared the fault code per the screen on the scan tool, but in fact it's still there. After updating the tool again with the same software update I loaded into the tool yesterday, the tool now indicates that my car doesn't have the battery regulation system 0061... but the fault and historical data pertaining to the dead OEM battery are still in the car's system and being read by the scan tool. The car's system appears to think there is still a battery with zero capacity and high internal resistance, and 03041 Energy Management is still active. My primary reason for purchasing this scan tool was to reset the Battery Energy Management System of this Audi vehicle. Surely I'm not the only person who owns an Audi or other VW group vehicle has had to change and register a new battery after the OEM battery failed completely, and had to reset the various systems on these vehicles that manage the battery and electrical charging system. At this point, I'm not sure whether to return this item or not. It's appearing that I'm going to have to pay an Audi dealership to reset the fault codes and return the Battery Energy Management System [BEMS] to normal functioning. As it is, at minimum it's affecting the functioning of the audio system and other accessories if I wish to use them when the engine of the vehicle is not running... they will be shut off in 3 minutes via the Audi BEMS. ... show more
