The battery would never hold a charge while plugged in. You would have to take it out of the door bring it inside and plug it in. Once it had a full charge it would still only work for three or four days. Door would open and shut on its own at different times of the days or night. Would not recommend

This is a really cool addition to the coop. We like to close the hens in at night to protect them from predators. I would recommend keeping it plugged in all the time but you can still run it if power is out. The night alarm and image capture is great to spot what might be snooping around the coop in the dark. When closing it sometimes makes 2 cycles because it adjusts where it stops if it touches anything. I tested it on a ham sandwich and it barely put a crease on the bread then closed at the top of the sandwich so it's not going to hurt anything while closing. Being able to connect and control via my wireless LAN is nice because I don't need to be near it to operate. The remote has a good range too. Getting intruder alerts at night is a nice bonus. I may put a small mirror in front of a corner of the camera so I can view whether the door is fully open or closed. Overall great way to let them in and out on the cold and stormy days without trekking out to the coop.

I got it because I needed it for a trip. Boy, do I regret procrastination. When it decides to work, it's crap at best. The battery is junk, I charged it to full, put it in and about 3 hours later I got the notification that the battery was dying. Cool, then I hardwired it and it seems to be okay now. It doesn't matter how many times I set the timer- it won't listen. And then there's the camera, that's a joke. I took a screenshot of the angle you get, there is no way to change or redirect it either. Topping all of this off is the fact that it doesn't stay closed, I have to check it throughout the night to ensure my girls are safe and it's closed. Do yourself a favor and go with a less tech one. I've heard great things about the "omelet" brand and will be switching when we get home.

Not happy with this thing, followed instructions, doesn’t work as described. Shows the set open and close time, doesn’t work consistently - alarm stopped working. Wish I had more then 30 days to return- says my window to return closed yesterday- waste of money - still have to manually open door, sometimes remote works - sometimes it doesn’t. Door randomly opens + closes for extended time locking chickens inside

Has own WiFi but you have to be within 50 feet to actually connect to use it and download an app that looks sketchy and has poor reviews. Can’t use for multiple doors fun fact. Door doesn’t actually close at night or close when you press the button for it to close it’ll immediately go right back up even with the time set. Set it to Pacific time and it’s still off an hour. 0/5 stars if I could have given it. Every possible way it could mess up it has.

This would be a cool door but rhe battery will not keep a charge at all rendering it useless. Of course after I went to the trouble of installing it, buying a solar panel, (have tried several panels to ensure it was not thr solar device. Now I have to take it out to return it. Amazon can't offer support because it's a 3rd party vendor.

Awesome concept, poor design. You can only see the camera when within 40ft distance which doesn’t really make sense for why someone would want a camera and when you are this far away the video cuts in and out. Also, the battery hardly lasts 12 hours therefore you have to connect it to a power cord or get a solar panel charger. The alarm is great to deter predators and the camera and set times for the door to open and close are great. Just wish the battery lasted longer and I could check on my chickens when I wasn’t around.
