Works just as described. Opens shortly after daybreak, closes shortly after dark. So easy to install & doesn't require any space above or beside the unit like the ones that simply raise the door via a pulley system. While this unit doesn't lock in the down position, there is quite a bit of resistance if you try to force the door to open. This is installed in a shady area & I was concerned it wouldn't detect the natural lighting properly but it has worked flawlessly since day 1. I installed the door today. It was very easy to install since there are just six screws to install it and I already had the hole cut for the door. I installed it in the inside of my chicken coop as the windows provide more than enough light to operate the sensor.The door is solid and opens and closes fully and easily. This has worked great for my chickens even in below zero weather and snow. I put it on the south side of my building and the chickens adapted well. I can now go on vacation and know that my chickens can free range all day long.
