The media could not be loaded. This automatic door was easy to install once I got my chicken coop. The default settings work good for me, but can be customized if you so desire. I will admit, the first week I was checking every evening close to sundown to make sure it closed. It did without issues. The battery always seems full because of the solar panel charger. This item is quite flimsy and works unpredictably. I purchased the automatic door so that I could leave town for four days and my hens could get in and out of their coop independently at night and morning. I tested the automatic coop door prior to installing it. It worked fine and also worked after it was installed when I tested it. This morning however the door had only opened 2 inches and the hens could not get out to their food and water. They were trapped. I have no confidence in this automatic door. Don't trust it.     • Great way to protect your chickens
I have chickens and I have a predator problem. Every few month we have a visit from a fox or bobcat and lose chickens. They are only active nights and early morning - so this keeps the chickens in their coop until 9am. Pros: - solar, so no running electrical wires to the coop - manual mode, so if I get out early and can monitor it's easy to open the gate early / get them in back into the coop early. - no-pinch, so you don't wake up with a surprise stuck chicken. - remote - so that on rainy days I don't even have to go into the coop if I want to open early. - light detection, so I don't have to adjust for time-of-year and daylght savings - I like the horizontal open instead of the guillotiene door. I like to let my chickens free range, but often didn't because I wouldn't think to let them out before leaving for work. Not a problem anymore! I set the timer to let them out in the morning and automatically close at night after they've all put themselves to bed, to keep predators out. The battery life is really good. I didn't even get around connect the solar panel for a week after installing it, and it still had a half charge. So with the panel there to keep it topped up, the battery shouldn't ever be an issue. It has a light sensor mode, and a remote control. I may try the remote control mode to only let them out on the days I want, so they're not out in bad weather, etc. Overall very pleased! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We have been looking for a chicken coop door since experiencing rats in the run and a healthy population of fox and raccoon in our area. The Sun Energise automatic chicken coop door was simple to install with clear directions. The remote works well and there is ample cord between the door and the solar collector, which we mounted on the building outside of the covered run.
