  • Effortless Chicken Care
I recently re-purchased the Automatic Chicken Coop Door Solar-Powered model with a remote light sensor mode and anti-pinch function from Amazon, marking my second acquisition of this fantastic product. You can find my original review, along with a build and installation video, on my Amazon profile. My first door served me exceptionally well for over two years, and I was eager to replace it with the same reliable model when the time came. Replacing the old door was a breeze. Since I had already built the original door into my chicken coop, the new installation took mere minutes. The design is straightforward, allowing for easy removal and reinstallation without any cumbersome adjustments. This is a significant advantage for anyone who values efficiency and convenience in maintaining their coop. The automatic opening and closing feature, triggered by sunrise and sunset, is incredibly convenient. No longer do I have to venture out to the coop at dawn and dusk; the door handles it all seamlessly. This convenience not only saves me time but also ensures that my chickens are safely secured without the need for my constant attention. The solar-powered aspect is particularly impressive. It efficiently harnesses sunlight, making it eco-friendly and cost-effective. I've never had issues with power, even on cloudy days, which speaks volumes about its performance. One area for potential improvement is the remote control functionality. While it allows me to turn the door on or off, I wish it included the ability to open and close the door remotely. This added feature would provide even greater flexibility and control, especially during those times when I want to let the chickens out or secure them without physically going to the coop. Overall, I highly recommend the Automatic Chicken Coop Door to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient solution for their poultry management. If it lasts another two-plus years like my previous one, it will undoubtedly prove worth every penny. This product has significantly enhanced my chicken-keeping experience, and I look forward to many more years of effortless cooping! ... show more

  • This chicken door is unreliable.
I put this automatic chicken coop door in at the end of May 2025. At first, I loved it and it worked great. But after a few months the door stopped opening all the way and I would have to open it manually. Then I would have to push the open button several times before it would open fully. I still have to push the open button several time before it will open all the way and now, I have to make sure the door closes all the way at night and manually close the door to keep my chickens safe at night. I have tried everything to fix the problem on my own but nothing I have done works. Tried emailing the company to get help trouble shooting and nothing but crickets. I would not recommend this chicken door because it is unreliable and you can't get help when you have problems.. ... show more

  • Excellent chicken coop door!
This was absolutely worth it! We have had a raccoon problem and had a door the we manually had to close. If we are tired and get home late we would forget and thus lost some chickens. This door is amazing, it opens at sunrise and closes after the sun sets. It is smaller than expected but works great, very quiet and the remote is a nice extra bonus. Highly recommend this item, installation was easy...about 30 minutes start to finish. ... show more

  • Maybe look elsewhere... winter review pending
I'm docking 1 star literally just for the manual, and the remote. Enjoy the read. Other reviews complain about the timer setting - I've not operated in that mode yet. Test it before installing it. To begin, the manually is poorly written English, they could have filtered through AI to clean it up. It also had QR codes going to, I think, one drive, but it asks you to log in. The product itself, I put together (plug cable from solar into door), set it to photosensitizing mode (I think the default mode) then put it outside for about 3 weeks, in the rain/tornado weather here in MO. It's not broken yet. I installed it. My chickens are not dead yet. Time will see how this works when I put it on times mode in the winter. I've installed it in a way that I could remove it. There are close and open buttons on the back of the solar unit for testing or manually over ride. The manual over ride does not change the current setting, which is nice if the chickens fail to get in. (Hasn't happen it, but useful while installing it.) It comes with a useless remote, useless due to range, I have a 12x24 foot chicken run, and can't open the door from the coop to outside the 12 foot side of the run. (Manual says it's a 0.5 meter range, the solar cable is longer than that.) This is by far, the least expensive investment that saves you the most time. An additionally thought for those out there, invest in a camera system to monitor your live stock, don't let the least expensive investment be there end, that's just poor planning. (I use Blink, without subscription, wired cameras outside and will be moving a wireless one in the coop so I can confirm who/what is in the coop - another inexpensive product to protect your love stock.) It is good enough that I am buying another one for my dad's chickens. Edit: Purchased on 4/19/25, original review written on 5/28/25, 6/5/25 edit. Original title: Good product, so far, winter review to come I've decided to drop 2 more stars off the list. I may have installed the solar poorly, hopefully, but the last two days, the door has not opened. Yesterday, it did not open at all. Today, it opened about an inch, maybe two. Pressing the "open" button on the controller did open it each time. We will see if this review eventually becomes 1 star. Edit: Down to 1 star -- officially stopped working entirely by month 3. ... show more

  • Difficult to program
The door operates well and the solar panel has been constantly working. However, we have had trouble with programming the opening time. It’s automatically set to open at sunrise and to close at sunset. We would like to keep our chickens inside the coop until a little later in the day but haven’t been able to figure out how to program for that. We have to manually open the door to let them out each day. The door does close constantly at sunset. The size works well for our fully grown hens, roosters, and guinea fowl. It is one of the cheaper models so I guess you get what you pay for. ... show more
