I’ve bought this because I was going away for a week and I needed to have my chicken in and out without neighbors coming by to help me or friends or family. This is the best thing I have ever purchased in my entire life. This works so perfectly. It lets them out at 9 AM as I set the timer and let them back in at 6 PM. It is the best thing I have ever purchase I cannot say much good thing about this, everybody should get one of these. It’s good for a little dogs good for small animals. It is the best go buy it I promise you it’s good.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money and still have a good automatic coop door, this is an excellent choice. The aluminum door and housing is solid. Installation is easy. I didn't bother with notching as I did not see it worth the effort. All I did was open the door opener and placed it against the coop and ran a pencil in the inside of the open area. Then I drilled the corners with a drill bit wide enough to accommodate my wood cutting jig saw blade and in just a few minutes the hole was cut and the coop door installed. The solar charger and controls are together on one box and the line from this is 72" long and plugs into the coop door opener. There is also a 32" USB cord to charge the control box as well. Programming is a bit tricky but the instructions are pretty good. I have mine set to open and close using the light sensor and it works great. To program the door to open and close at a specific time requires you to work the controller at the time you want it to open or close. So for example, if you want it to open at 7AM, you must program it at 7AM. If you want want it to close at 8PM, you must program it at 8PM. You get the idea and probably understand why I just went with the light sensor.

For the price, it works much better than I expected. It could be a little easier to program timer mode (you have to set the time you want to open by changing it to that mode when it's actually that time, then do the same for close) but so far the light sensor has worked well. The remote doesn't really do anything, but that doesn't really matter for me. I wish the door was a bit taller...like 6 inches or so, but it's still plenty big enough for my chickens to get in and out. But if you have some big honkers or turkeys or some other animals they definitely will not fit.

My initial concern was thie openng was too small for my hens. I have 17 hens. They range from the small - easter egg layers to very large Biff Orphingtons. Since the first evening it was installed all my chickens have passed through it. You can leave the setting to close at dusk or you can program it to close a bit later, simply by holding 2 buttons for 3 seconds. I am so happy I installed this door. I do not have to worry about the coyotes, skunks and raccoons getting in.

The door is solid and well made but the timing system was unreliable and either left my guineas locked in the coop or the door left open when it should be closed. Argh! It has a dawn/dusk timer and a way to program it to open/close at “the same time of day” every day but I found both ways to be VERY unreliable. Also, I am used to setting the time and open/close times and being able to physically see the time/timers…so not being able to see what is going on was a major disadvantage too…but that is my idiosyncrasy not this product’s problem. I can’t recommend this product because of how erratic the timer mechanism acts.
